A woman drove around in a parking garage and then headed to an elevator. She heard a few gun shots and went into the elevator. However, the shooter, who was wearing a ski mask, got into the elevator and pointed a gun at her.

At the crime scene, the team learned that the victim was Justin Fletcher and that he was shot twice. Lanie mentioned that the murder occurred in the morning.

As Mia reported the murder, Kevin and Javier went to her apartment to ask her some questions. She told them that she did not wish to answer questions since she made the call anonymously. However, Kevin and Javier dragged her to the station.

Kate questioned Mia to see what she learned and she stated that the killer had a weird smell to him. She claimed that the smell reminded her of gunpowder or puppies. Prior to questioning, she made bad remarks on how Kevin and Javier smelled.

Castle went to the elevator and spoke with the witness, who claimed that she realized how Kate had the hots for Castle. She then mentioned how she could smell that Castle washed his hair with shaving cream. She also knew that he did not brush his teeth and ate day old tacos for the morning.

The team discussed what they learned about the case and they realized that the victim was carrying a piece of art in the briefcase. Hayley arrived and stated that the insurance company she worked for wanted her to retrieve the painting. She claimed it was a piece done by famed artist Vincent Van Gogh.

Javier and Kevin went looking for someone named Liam since they thought might be the killer, as he was the original person transporting the painting. As they chased him, Kevin fired off a few shots and accidentally hit Javier. Per Kevin, Javier would need a few stitches but would otherwise be okay.

The team learned that there was a hedge fund billionaire named Hawthorne Carter and one of his hobbies was art collecting. They questioned him and mentioned that he bid on a Van Gogh painting a few weeks ago but did not get it. Carter said he was not interested in Van Gogh's paintings at that time since he just got a painting done by Jackson Pollock.

Liam was a suspect in Justin's murder so he was questioned midway through the show. Liam stated that he wanted to get the painting from Justin so he confronted him the day Justin was murdered. He swore that he was innocent.
