The irony of course is that robots in "Futurama" (and Bender in particular) are usually more human than the humans! Bender drinks a lot, loves to party, and experiences a whole range of emotions in almost every episode. And he's about to get an upgrade...

Bender is very excited about his body, and immediately begins doing everything he couldn't do as a robot. He even wiggles his "little bender" thinking that it would improve his reception. From that moment on he goes on a rampage of trashing his body with... well... everything he did when he was a robot. Except now, it's bad for him.

Zoidberg declares this after giving Bender a check-up with what seems to be a Star-Trek tricorder. It's actually amazing; not the cholesterol level in Bender's body (which was to be expected with all the stuff he's been eating), but rather that Zoidberg made a medical analysis that doesn't sound completely wrong!

Actually, the above description fits Leela's Tale of Interest, later in this episode. Fry asks to see what life would be like if it was more like a videogame. To activate the machine, the Professor lights a stick of incense and prays to it.

Nixon is signing a peace treaty with the planet Nintendoo 64 (sic), but Kong makes a surprise attack, which is followed by an invasion of video game aliens. Mario, by the way, appears to be an ambassador for Italy at the United Nations.

Video games often feature areas that cannot be entered without specific keys, and there's a common convention of color-coding the keys for your convenience. When Fry is invited to the Milatari HQ (sic) as an expert on video games, the officer showing him into the war room pulls out an actual (and oversized) blue key which he uses to open the door.

The gang are running through Pac-Man's escape tunnels, and Zoidberg discovers that the "dots" collected in a "Pac-Man" game are actually quite delicious. He starts gorging them down, and accidentally eats Fry as well. Fortunately, Fry's ok - he had another "guy"!

The Nintendians desperately need to wash their clothes - apparently, Donkey Kong has been wearing the same loincloth for years. Fortunately, they decide on a compromise: Earth will throw the Nintendians' dirty laundry in with theirs! Hurray, the world is saved at last!

The Professor has an invention for every occasion. It makes one wonder where he keeps all the ones he's not currently using. The machine picks Amy, but then changes its mind to Leela. It's probably better that way.

Fry plays the Scarecrow, trying to scare away birds by reciting lines from a Stephen King novel. Bender (like all other robots in "Futurama") runs on alcohol, so he asks for beer. Zoidberg arrives late in a taxi cab and says he needs courage because he hasn't got enough of it. Maybe he thinks it's some kind of food?

The Wicked Witch of the West kidnapped Leela because she wants a daughter and apprentice. Leela agrees happily, on condition that she can hurt anyone she wants and never has to dance naked at the equinox. Unfortunately for her, Bender opens a champagne bottle to celebrate the occasion, and accidentally hits the Witch with a spurt of champagne, killing her.

He immediately pulls out a straw, so as not to let her "go to waste".

The Professor turns out to be... a professor! With a gigantic head! Zoidberg wants Courage, but the Professor gives him a gun instead. He gives Bender 5,000 Professorland Fun-Bucks. He gives Fry a brain, because he obviously needs one. He tells Leela she can use her ruby boots to wish to go back home, but instead she wishes to become a witch and turns everyone into frogs!

The professor rushes into the room with a Styrofoam box and a pair of tongs, and is disappointed to see she's still alive. Hermes comforts him, saying "there's always next year, Professor".
