Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What tool is Professor Farnsworth using to fix his What-If Machine at the beginning of the episode?

Answer: A hammer

He's "fine-tuning" the machine with some hefty hammer strikes. It's amazing the thing still works!
2. Complete this quote by Bender: "Being a robot is great, but we don't have emotions, and sometimes that makes me very ______".

Answer: Sad

Bender asks the What-If machine to show him what would happen if he were to become human. The irony of course is that robots in "Futurama" (and Bender in particular) are usually more human than the humans! Bender drinks a lot, loves to party, and experiences a whole range of emotions in almost every episode. And he's about to get an upgrade...
3. Bender's anxious to test his new human body. Which of the following things does Bender NOT do with his body within the first five minutes of getting it?

Answer: Rub tanning lotion all over himself

Bender is very excited about his body, and immediately begins doing everything he couldn't do as a robot. He even wiggles his "little bender" thinking that it would improve his reception. From that moment on he goes on a rampage of trashing his body with... well... everything he did when he was a robot. Except now, it's bad for him.
4. How much cholesterol does Bender have in his body when he is presented to the Nobel Prize committee?

Answer: 40 lbs.

Zoidberg declares this after giving Bender a check-up with what seems to be a Star-Trek tricorder. It's actually amazing; not the cholesterol level in Bender's body (which was to be expected with all the stuff he's been eating), but rather that Zoidberg made a medical analysis that doesn't sound completely wrong!
5. At the end of the party, Fry discovers that Bender has died. How long has he been dead?

Answer: 12 hours

Bender instigates a party at the Academy of Science, but fails to partake - partly because he's become a gigantic ball of human fat, and partly because he's plain dead. That'll teach him not to party that hard. No wait, it's Bender we're talking about, he'll party to death anytime!
6. Fry doesn't get to watch his What-If question come true, because the Professor knocks him out with the machine's handle. So what we're watching is actually Fry hallucinating the answer to his What-If question.

Answer: False

Actually, the above description fits Leela's Tale of Interest, later in this episode. Fry asks to see what life would be like if it was more like a videogame. To activate the machine, the Professor lights a stick of incense and prays to it.
7. Who attacks Nixon at the beginning of Fry's Tale of Interest?

Answer: Donkey Kong

Nixon is signing a peace treaty with the planet Nintendoo 64 (sic), but Kong makes a surprise attack, which is followed by an invasion of video game aliens. Mario, by the way, appears to be an ambassador for Italy at the United Nations.
8. What is required to enter the war room?

Answer: A blue key

Video games often feature areas that cannot be entered without specific keys, and there's a common convention of color-coding the keys for your convenience. When Fry is invited to the Milatari HQ (sic) as an expert on video games, the officer showing him into the war room pulls out an actual (and oversized) blue key which he uses to open the door.
9. Who eats Fry during the escape from the Milatari HQ?

Answer: Zoidberg

The gang are running through Pac-Man's escape tunnels, and Zoidberg discovers that the "dots" collected in a "Pac-Man" game are actually quite delicious. He starts gorging them down, and accidentally eats Fry as well. Fortunately, Fry's ok - he had another "guy"!
10. Why do the Nintendians need a million allowances-worth of quarters?

Answer: To do their laundry

The Nintendians desperately need to wash their clothes - apparently, Donkey Kong has been wearing the same loincloth for years. Fortunately, they decide on a compromise: Earth will throw the Nintendians' dirty laundry in with theirs! Hurray, the world is saved at last!
11. How does Professor Farnsworth decide who'll be the last person to ask the What-If machine a question?

Answer: He uses a Who-Ask machine

The Professor has an invention for every occasion. It makes one wonder where he keeps all the ones he's not currently using. The machine picks Amy, but then changes its mind to Leela. It's probably better that way.
12. In Leela's version of the Wizard of Oz, what liquid does the Tin Man (Bender) ask for when Leela meets him?

Answer: Beer

Fry plays the Scarecrow, trying to scare away birds by reciting lines from a Stephen King novel. Bender (like all other robots in "Futurama") runs on alcohol, so he asks for beer. Zoidberg arrives late in a taxi cab and says he needs courage because he hasn't got enough of it. Maybe he thinks it's some kind of food?
13. What does Bender do after the Wicked Witch of the West melts down?

Answer: Drinks her up with a straw

The Wicked Witch of the West kidnapped Leela because she wants a daughter and apprentice. Leela agrees happily, on condition that she can hurt anyone she wants and never has to dance naked at the equinox. Unfortunately for her, Bender opens a champagne bottle to celebrate the occasion, and accidentally hits the Witch with a spurt of champagne, killing her.

He immediately pulls out a straw, so as not to let her "go to waste".
14. Complete this quote: "I am The Professor: Great and... um... ________!"

Answer: Forgetful

The Professor turns out to be... a professor! With a gigantic head! Zoidberg wants Courage, but the Professor gives him a gun instead. He gives Bender 5,000 Professorland Fun-Bucks. He gives Fry a brain, because he obviously needs one. He tells Leela she can use her ruby boots to wish to go back home, but instead she wishes to become a witch and turns everyone into frogs!
15. What was the Professor going to do before Leela woke up from her dream?

Answer: Harvest her organs

The professor rushes into the room with a Styrofoam box and a pair of tongs, and is disappointed to see she's still alive. Hermes comforts him, saying "there's always next year, Professor".
