Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Adding a new darker edge to police dramas, "The Shield" was set in which U.S. city?

Answer: Los Angeles

Vic Mackey & his co-workers prowled the Rampart area of Los Angeles for seven seasons on the F/X Network. Many of their activites though made us wonder who were the real criminals!
2. "Barney Miller" brought laughs to the 1970s police show landscape. In what city did Barney and his fellow cops protect the public?

Answer: New York

The Big Apple, New York, was served by Barney, Wojo, Harris, Fish, and the gang from the 12th precinct.
3. The 1980's detective show Simon & Simon was based in what city?

Answer: San Diego

Brothers Rick & A.J. Simon helped clients in sunny San Diego as private investigators. The series ran on CBS from November 1981 to January 1989. Gerald McRaney (Rick) would go on to star in the popular sit-com "Major Dad" the following year. A co-star in later years of the show was Tim Reid as police lieutenant "Downtown" Brown. Reid had earlier played the outrageous "Venus Flytrap" on the sitcom "WKRP in Cincinatti".
4. "Nash Bridges" was a CBS hit for six seasons. In what seaside city did it take place?

Answer: San Francisco

The Golden Gate bridge & other wonders of beautiful San Francisco served as a backdrop for Don Johnson (Nash) and Cheech Marin (Dominguez) to catch the bad guys.
5. The NBC drama "Third Watch" profiled the lives & careers of what major city's police & firefighters?

Answer: New York City

The fire and police stations were located across from each other at the fictional corner of King and Arthur streets in NYC, thus the precinct was known as Camelot.
6. Robert Urich starred in "Spenser: For Hire" on ABC Network for 3 seasons. What town was its setting?

Answer: Boston

Spenser and his shaven-head friend Hawk (Avery Brooks) worked the historic Boston area. Brooks next big role would be far, far away in space as Captain Benjamin Sisko on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". 7. "Homicide: Life on the Street" featured cops like Bayliss, Pembleton and Giardello solving murders in which 'charming' American city?

Answer: Baltimore

Baltimore, nicknamed "Charm City", was the setting for the first tv drama to ever win three Peabody Awards (1993, 1995, 1997). Cast member Richard Belzer would reprise his role as Detective John Munch in a different police drama, "Law & Order: SVU", a rare occurence in television.
