Monica Hunter's show had great ratings but it lacked credibility amongst true journalists. The team's plan of attack involved convincing Monica to take a fake story public, thereby destroying her credibility all together.

In the previous episode Sophie was dumped by her boyfriend for being withholding about herself and her identity. She asked Nate to be the lead on this job and it was a foreshadowing of Sophie's existentialist crisis that worsened in the following episodes.

When the team approached Monica the first time, she was told a story about how the government was building secret underground prisons to domestically house terrorist threats and other criminals. Monica believed their story but decided at the last minute that the story wasn't going to excite viewers or gain high ratings, so she chose to go in a different direction.

Once the team realized that Monica would need a story that fit her core ratings demographic, they altered their previous story. Nate told her that the secret underground prisons were, in fact, fall-out bunkers for the political elite to reside in, as a result of a massive toxic water contamination that is top secret.

The reason the crew knew that they could con Monica Hunter was because she was desperate for the respect and approval of legitimate news professionals. The titled of these stories reflect her preference for salacious stories and her pursuit of the fake story showed how merciless she could be when it came to getting her ratings and her story.

Answer: Destiny

After Monica was given the information about "Project Destiny," she proceeded to contact her most reputable sources. Since the team saw this coming, they directed her to the source they wanted her to go to for answers about Destiny. After she asked Congressman Calloway about "Project Destiny" he denied any knowledge of it, became highly flustered and then fled the scene.

It is then revealed that the congressman was having an affair with a stripper named Destiny and it that it was presumably that secret that he did not want to be released to the public.

Answer: Abbott

Lieutenant Abbott was shown telling Captain Carpenter that Hardison was "freaking him right out," since Hardison had recited his entire military file to him word for word. Fortunately, Nate appeared soon after this conversation and was able to break Monica and Hardison free from the base, but not without a fast getaway.

Answer: Kennedy assassination

Most of the discussions about conspiracies and phenomena were started by Parker and generally debunked by Eliot and/or Hardison. According to them, the Loch Ness monster was just submarine testing and UFOs could be found in Area 52, but not Area 51.

It was just after Monica found and grabbed the red file from the apartment that Eliot emerged with a rubber apron on and a murderous look in his eyes. Eliot laughed after Nate was pepper sprayed until he realized that the real pepper spray would soon be affecting him as well.

Monica was so determined to make it to the studio that she never even bothered to look at the actual content of the red file. While the red file had been shown several times throughout the episode as having been an integral piece of the story/puzzle, the documents inside were never shown until just before Monica was handcuffed and tackled by the police while on camera.
