Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Sayid's first flashback, he recalls being led as a prisoner through a large building. According to a large sign on the wall, where was this building located?

Answer: England

As Sayid was led by the CIA officials through the building, a large green sign on a wall they passed read, "Heathrow Express, The Faster Way To Central London".
The Heathrow Express runs between the Heathrow Airport and London Paddington station. It is suggested that the three were at the Heathrow Airport and "snatched Sayid up" as a possible terrorist. When being interrogated, Sayid simply told the officials, "I am an Iraqi. I am not a terrorist." It was later revealed that the CIA wanted to work with him to catch a terrorist... and a former friend of Sayid.
2. "Seven years since you left Iraq. Six months here, three months there. Always moving. There are only two reasons why a man would do that, Sayid. Either he's running away from something, or he's looking for something." What was the name of the woman who said this?

Answer: Alyssa Cole

After entering the "office", the woman introduces herself as Alyssa Cole from Central Intelligence and her partner as Robert Hewitt from ASIS (most likely the Australian Secret Intelligence Service).
The two agents mention that Sayid had been in a holding cell for eighteen hours and explain that they believe he knows something about a terrorist plot and 300 pounds of stolen explosives. Sayid refuses to acknowledge them, until Agent Cole says, "We know where she is." And so, Sayid found himself in Sydney, Australia.
3. When Kate found Jack wandering through the jungle in circles, she insisted that he needed to go back. Jack replied, "Not without _______."

Answer: Locke

Jack was utterly exhausted, but refused to stop searching for Locke even when Kate and Sun insisted that he needed rest. Jack was determined not to rest until Locke (Boone's "murderer") was found. He knew Locke had lied about the accident, and Jack had based his medical treatment on the lie.
Luckily Jack did not have to keep searching, because Locke made a reappearance at Boone's funeral.
4. When Locke reappeared at Boone's funeral, everyone who had gathered turned to stare. As he stammered for words to explain the accident which led to Boone's death, Locke was noticeably doing what while speaking?

Answer: Squinting his eyes

Locke appeared before the group, still in his blood-stained shirt, and said, "It was my fault". While every survivor glared accusingly, Locke spoke with fumbled words and broken sentences in a futile attempt to explain the plane accident.
While speaking, Locke was noticeably squinting his eyes (particularly his right eye, which still wore traces of the scar) and facing the bright sun. (Another "light" symbol?)
However, he was walking fine and excused the leg incident as a cramp. Locke told the truth about everything except the hatch, which he denied, but was called a liar and tackled by Jack.
5. After attacking Locke, Jack became exhausted, had difficulty breathing, and collapsed onto the sand. Who called out for water for him?

Answer: Sawyer

When finally confronted with Locke, Jack approached and demanded to know where he was. He tackled Locke to the ground, and was pulled back by Charlie, Sawyer and Kate. Jack continued to shout angrily, until he began breathing hard and fell down.
Surprisingly, it was Sawyer who yelled out for water.
It seemed there was quite a bit of Sawyer's unknown character which was revealed in this episode.
All that Locke could reply was, "It was an accident!"
6. Did Sun appear in this episode?

Answer: Yes

Sun appeared briefly on several occasions in this episode. First, telling Jack (with Kate) that he needed to rest and later telling Claire (with Charlie) that she needed to rest. Charlie offered to care for the baby, whom he nicknamed "Turnip Head", after Sun told Claire that in the hospital the nurses watch the baby.
Sun also appeared at Boone's funeral, comforting Kate.
7. Locke told Shannon about Boone, "I should've said no. First time he offered to __________ with me, I should've said no."

Answer: Hunt

Shannon replied, "He would have gone anyway."
Locke also mentioned the storm which was moving in (weather has excellent timing on this island, it seems), which peaked when Shannon was attempting to take her revenge.
Shannon was elusive and eerily calm throughout the first part of the episode, showing what seemed to be a lack of grief, which exploded into a quest for instant revenge against Locke.
8. In this episode, it is discovered that Shannon carried a photo of Boone and herself in her wallet.

Answer: False

Locke had given Shannon Boone's backpack, which he swore he hadn't opened. Later, she is seen looking through his checkbook and finds a photo of Boone and herself in a side pocket. (Also in the side pocket is the end of Boone's driver's license, on which red numbers can be read beneath the photo as 10/81- most likely, his birthday.)
It was revealed in "Hearts And Minds" how Boone would feel (hypothetically) about Shannon's death, yet Shannon showed little emotion throughout the funeral. When Jack asked if she'd like to say something about her brother, she simply replied, "No".
9. After hearing from Kate that she put sleeping pills in his juice, Jack mumbled what word before falling asleep?

Answer: "Okay."

Kate was so convinced that Jack needed sleep that she admitted to crushing up sleeping pills and secretly putting them in his juice. When Jack awoke and Kate offered him soup, he asked sarcastically, "What's in it, chloroform?" He then felt his neck in a panic and demanded to know who had been in the tent. The key to the gun case, he discovered, was gone.
The main questions are, how did Shannon get the key, how did Shannon find the case, and how did Shannon learn how to use a gun?
10. While Locke was washing his bloody shirt near the waterfall, Sayid approached and noticed the scar on Locke's back. Sayid identified it as a surgical scar, but what did Locke refer to it as?

Answer: War wound

As Locke was washing the shirt by himself, Walt walked by first. Locke waved, but Walt took one glance at the red water wringing from the cloth and quickly left without a word.
Sayid entered next and asked Locke, "How did you get that?" about the scar where the kidney transplant had taken place. Locke replied that it was a war wound, and Sayid argued that it looked more like a surgical scar. Later in the episode, when Locke was caring for his injured head, Sayid said, "Another war wound."
11. As Sayid stood with the two CIA agents on a dock in Sydney, a wide yellow sign along the edge had four clearly identifiable words. Which was NOT one of them?

Answer: No

The four words clearly in the camera's sight were "Caution: Fall Explosion Injury". Here, Sayid nearly quit working for the CIA agents and even challenged them to arrest him. Instead, Agent Cole threatened to arrest "her". This forced Sayid to make a very difficult decision, especially when told that his friend Essam was to be convinced to go through with a suicide bombing.
12. As Sayid and Essam sat in the truck filled with explosives, they were wearing uniforms as disguises. What name did the tag on Sayid's uniform have?

Answer: Steve

This was interesting, because it is also the name of one of the other survivors.
Sayid, unable to allow himself to go through with it, admitted to a devastated Essam that he was working for the CIA.
As Sayid later told Kate, after she told him that he'd had no choice, "there is always a choice". In this case, Sayid gave up a ticket for the day Essam died so that he could be buried and thus took the next day instead- which landed him on Flight 815. (This also explained why, for religious reasons, he had not wanted the bodies in the fuselage burned.)
Since Sayid was planning to find Nadia in Los Angeles, several questions remain; why did he tell Danielle that Nadia was dead? And if Nadia was the love of his life, why did Sayid pair up with Shannon?
13. While watching Michael's and Jin's second raft successfully nearing completion, Walt began questioning his father about possible problems that might occur. Which was NOT mentioned?

Answer: "What if we drown?"

From previous knowledge that Walt had burned the first raft in "In Translation", he seemed anxious- and desperate- as the second neared completion. He asked Michael about the raft tipping and shark attack, both of which Michael dismissed with confidence. When Walt asked, "What if we die?" and Michael replied that they would not, Walt replied, "Boone died".
It seemed since he could not burn raft number two, he might find another way to stay on the island which harbored the many secrets.
Meanwhile, Michael and Jin communicated two new Korean/English translations of "good" and "tighter".
14. After many attempts to calm Claire's baby, Charlie discovered that Sawyers voice seemed to work. As Sawyer read an auto report magazine, a highway in which state was described?

Answer: Vermont

After Charlie's and Hurley's hilarious duets at "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "I Feel Good", Charlie finally found a surprising solution when Sawyer walked by. Charlie literally chased him with the baby "Turnip Head", and at the end Sawyer was reading away in his Harry Potter-like glasses.

He mentioned "crisp fall air" and a "flash of red down a maple-dappled Vermont highway" before going on about V-8 engines and transmissions. Somehow, it worked!
15. Locke refused to acknowledge any comments about a hatch in this episode.

Answer: False

Locke told the truth about everything to Sayid in this episode: the truth about the plane, Boone's accident, and even that he had destroyed Sayid's transceiver on the sixth day. His logic was that leading the people to a signal about people being killed was irrational and not logical.

He told everything, that is, except about the hatch. Instead, although he acknowledged the idea, he simply referred to the two hatches on the plane. Locke told Sayid that he had been called a liar by Jack in front of everyone he had come to know over the past month, and Sayid agreed that Locke was not to be trusted.

Instead, he remembered Essam's words about the "greater good" and told Locke, "Take me to the hatch."
