In the 1970 film version, the Father Mulcahy character was played by Rene Auberjonois, who you may recognize from the later TV series 'Benson' and 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'. Before joining the 'M*A*S*H' cast, Christopher appeared in such films as 'The Fortune Cookie' and 'With Six You Get Eggroll' (apparently he liked Chinese food).

He also did work on various TV series, including 'Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.' and 'Hogan's Heroes'.
