Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the pilot episode, what nation do the casualties come from?

Answer: Canada

Hawkeye finds this out right before the party and uses it so that he and Trapper won't be taken in by the MPs, because he has to help patch the boys up.
2. In "Henry Come Home" someone fakes an illness so that Henry will come back from Tokyo. Who fakes the illness?

Answer: Radar

I can't remember what he fakes. I think it might have been appendicitis, but whatever it was got Henry to come home!
3. In "Dr. Pierce and Mr. Hyde," what part of the camp does Hawkeye try to send to the North Koreans?

Answer: The latrine

This is from season 2. Hawkeye works for three straight days with no sleep. Everybody tries to get him to go to bed but the wounded keep coming and he won't sleep while there are wounded.
4. In season 3, what city does Hawkeye order the ribs from?

Answer: Chicago

This is where we hear one of Alan Alda's most famous quotes, "I've eaten a river of liver and an ocean of fish! I've eaten so much fish, I'm ready to grow gills! I've eaten so much liver, I can only make love if I'm smothered in bacon and onions!" So he decides to order from Adam's Ribs in Chicago, a favorite restaurant of his.
5. What is the title of the episode in which Henry leaves?

Answer: "Abyssinia, Henry"

This episode was filmed with only the producers and Alan Alda knowing the ending so that the reactions could be real.
6. In "The Gun", who steals the Colonel's gun?

Answer: Frank

This is from season 4. Frank wants to impress Hot Lips, but eventually he returns it.
7. In "Post Op" a troop comes to donate blood, saving the day. What country do they come from?

Answer: Turkey

Apparently the 4077th had helped one of their troop members to get better and they wanted to return the favor. This was from season 5.
8. Which doctor comes on to the show at the beginning of season 6?

Answer: Charles

This episode was an hour long as Frank goes crazy on R-and-R and Charles takes his place because the head doctor at Tokyo General had a huge cribbage debt.
9. In "The Party" BJ plans a M*A*S*H reunion for the folks back home as the camp is bugging out.

Answer: True

I thought is was cool how they took a picture and they pretended to be at Fort Dix just for Klinger's mother.
10. In "Life Time" from season 8, how much extra time was taken to finish the surgery?

Answer: Three and a half minutes

The doctors only had twenty minutes before he would be paralysed but luckily they had him in ice which helped to save him. This show was also filmed with a clock in the corner so that you could see how much time had passed. It is scary how it matched up with the time I was watching.
11. In "Letters" Hawkeye receives letters from school children back home. What grade are the children in?

Answer: Fourth

Charles doesn't want to participate until he opens one letter, and it reminds him of New England in the Fall.
12. In "Communication Breakdown" from season 10 Charles loses a newspaper. What happened to that paper?

Answer: There was a strike

It was Colonel Potter that informed Charles that he should have just kept reading and he would have known that that day was not printed. Col. Potter had taken the next day's copy and found out about the strike.
13. In "As Time Goes By" Hawkeye and Margaret bury a time capsule. What is put into it?

Answer: All of these

This was the second to last episode of the series, and I think this is where we first meet Soon-Lee, Klinger's future wife.
14. At the beginning of "Goodbye, Farewell, Amen" we find Hawkeye in the psychiatric hospital with Sidney Freedman. What memory has he repressed that Sidney finally pulls out of him?

Answer: A mother killing her child

This is what Sydney slowly makes him remember. It starts with a day at the beach and soon turns into the real thing of a mother killing her child because it was crying.
15. In "Goodbye, Farewell, Amen," how does BJ tell Hawkeye goodbye?

Answer: He spells it with rocks
