1. "After the Fall": How did Aunt Effie get hurt?

Answer: Fell off her roof

Aunt Effie fell off her roof and was mute until the last few minutes of the show. Vint and the others told Thelma she should take Effie back to the hospital since she wasn't getting any better. Meanwhile Vint, Naomi, Bubba and Iola were in the midst of putting together a 2,000 piece puzzle of two Civil War-era ships.

While Thelma was arguing with them about Effie, Effie found the missing 2,000th piece and finally spoke.

A storm was brewing in Raytown on Thanksgiving despite Thelma's words that: "It never rains in Raytown. The sun always shine." Vint made it home with Effie with a tin of her rum balls. When a tree branch broke through the dining room window, the family high tailed to the basement. Effie brought her rum balls with her which they used as poker chips. Iola said, "My these kick right in. What's your secret ingredient?" Effie responded, "Booze."

Ed and Eunice up and left Raytown for Florida leaving their son Bubba behind. Ellen, even though she was in town, claimed it clashed with her social calendar and didn't go.
Eric Brown, who played Buzz, and Karen Argoud, who played Sonja, weren't included in season three and for the remainder of the series. Although no there was no mention of why they missed the funeral, Buzz and Sonja missed the funeral. This was the last mention of their characters.

Vint received a letter in the mail written by a woman addressing herself as his true mother in which she said to call her "mommy". She had hoped she would find a wealthy many with his own house. Instead she found out that Thelma owned the house and he rented the basement and was late with the rent.
5. "Buck Private Bubba": Bubba: "I got a date with Melanie." Thelma: "Yeah where you taking her? The mess hall or the PX?" Bubba: "Oh no I'm in ____________."

Answer: The Army

Vint's commander of his army unit arrived for a reunion with Vint and the other men. Melanie's dad refused to let her date a criminal so Bubba joined the Army. When Melanie showed up at the Harper house saying her dad changed his mind, they decided to go out on a date. Thelma then asked him that question.

Midnight was a terrible cat. Hissing, clawing, scratching at everyone - even Iola. When he died, Iola had him freeze dried and a built in "meow" when you stroked him and it made Thelma scream in terror.

Knowing she needed someone and seeing how Thelma had a husband and children, Vint's married and Bubba is so outgoing. Mrs. Boylen didn't like the idea of Iola going on a date and grounded her. It didn't matter because Iola was so scared she hid behind curtains most of the time.

Billy Bob Conroy was a neighbor of the Harper family for many years and was played by Brent Spiner. He played the same type of character on his appearances on "Night Court" and of course he played Lt. Commander Data on the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D.

Bubba entered Thelma in a grandma beauty contest using Naomi's photo in her place. At first Thelma was against it but after hearing the grand prize was a self-cleaning oven she relented.

The church was sponsoring a trip to Hawaii costing $900 and Thelma knew she couldn't afford it. That is until McRay's hired her and Bubba. She was to be paid $3.55 an hour with 30 hours giving her a possible $106.50. She could earn the money for Hawaii in a little over two months.
13. "It Takes Two to Watusi": Where did the double date take place?

Answer: Mini-golf course

Vint and Naomi arranged to go on a double date with Naomi's friend, Luann Fayette, and her date at a miniature golf course. When Luann's date cancels, Bubba takes his place.

After having no "fun" in the bedroom Naomi called a Raytown morning show that happened to have Dr. Joyce Brothers as a guest. Naomi called Vint "Clint" to hide his identity but the jig was up when she blabbed his line of work and her own.

Thelma was losing the strength in her arm so Vint and Naomi said they bet their whole life savings on her. If she lost, they would have to live with her forever. Like that she won! When Thelma, Vint, Naomi, Bubba, and Iola returned home Thelma offered to split her winnings with them and said Vint and Naomi should split their winnings too. Only come to find out they had no savings.

Thelma gave them each $1.00 as a prize.
