Answer: The Scarlet Letter

Many years ago when Thelma was in school the teacher assigned "The Scarlet Letter" but Thelma couldn't get through it. After being humiliated by her teacher she left school and didn't go back. At night school the teacher assigned "The Scarlet Letter" and she was the only one who actually read the book while everyone else read the Raytown version of "Cliff Notes" called "Ray Notes".

Answer: Rolled up newspapers

Thelma bought hundreds of items via KRAY's Home Shopping Network and didn't think of the bill. It came with several pages and totaling nearly $1,000. To cure her of shopping, every time she picked up the phone Vint, Naomi, Bubba and Iola bopped her on the head with rolled up newspapers.

Answer: A fishing pole

He was supposed to buy a round shaped bed for their basement in the hopes of making a baby. She called for Bubba to help Vint carry the bed inside only to find out Vint bought a fishing pole instead. Vint and Naomi refused to sit at the dinner table so Vint took a spot at the desk while Naomi sat on the couch. Vint asked for the salt which Thelma was forced to bring to him and she went back to her seat.

Then Naomi asked for the same salt and Thelma reluctantly brought it. Then Vint asked for tartar sauce and on her way back to her seat she stopped by Naomi's spot offering tartar sauce.

Then Vint asked for rolls causing Thelma to lose her cool and throw dinner rolls at them to make them see the light.

Answer: Her house

After lightning struck the clock in town, its hand fell down and singed Thelma's backside of her dress. She turned over a new helping leaf by loaning/giving away things. Naomi wanted to use Thelma's sewing machine to make a dress only for it to catch on the material and ruin the dress. Vint wanted money to join a gym but Thelma couldn't afford that much money so she gave him money to buy those rubber exercise straps, only to get tangled up in them. Bubba got the use of Thelma's car only for it to die during his date and he came home soaked. Iola asked for her recipe for fudge and she came over angry and dropped a piece of the fudge on the coffee table and it hit like a rock. Thinking a piece of white was a marshmallow, Iola said, "It's Mother's teeth."

Answer: An apple dessert

She had a crush on the night school teacher and made him an apple dessert only to find out he was allergic. It was all well in the end; they ended up being friends anyway.

Answer: The Meechums

Eugene Meechum was the grandson of Reverend and Alberta Meechum and he was quite the unruly child. Thelma woke up gagged and tied to her chair. When Alberta untied her, she unfairly blamed the Harpers. After Eugene kicked his grandfather's leg which was in a cast, the Reverend had enough and finally spanked him.

Answer: A VCR

Vint and Naomi were watching their show when Thelma wanted to watch her own show and Vint suggested buying a VCR by having a garage sale. The only items that didn't sell were Iola's handicrafts. Like idiots, they hid the money from the yard sale inside one of Iola's handicrafts. So when Iola took them all home she found the money and secretly bought them the VCR they wanted.

Answer: He fainted

Thelma brought his hideous lunch pail Binky, causing Vint to have a panic attack. He barely scraped his finger on the key grinder, causing a teeny drop of blood to appear. When Thelma pointed this out he fainted, hit his head and his arm was in a sling.

Answer: Frying pan

After Vint and Naomi switched to Bubba's room and he to theirs, Bubba had Duane and T-Boy downstairs for a band rehearsal. To stop them, Thelma simply showed him a frying pan right in front of his face and that made him stop.

Answer: Iola

After Bubba came home drunk, Thelma grounded him for four weeks. When Iola came over, she mentioned the loud honking and talking having the neighborhood up in arms. Thelma then said, "That's it Mister! Six weeks!" Iola then explained Eunice went on a picnic with her crush Duke Reeves and his friends.

She was dropped off at the church-sponsored Mother's Day banquet drunk as a skunk. The drunk Eunice blamed Thelma for Duke Reeves leaving. Bubba apologized to Thelma and said as he hugged Thelma, "You're the last person I'd want to hurt."
