Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 633 Stag Trail Road, North Caldwell, New Jersey

Answer: The Sopranos

"The Sopranos" was a TV series about an American-Italian family headed by mobster Tony Soprano. The idea originally conceived by David Chase was planned as a movie but he was dissuaded from this idea by his manager who suggested it would fit better as a TV series.

The filming of the original pilot episode was completed in 1997 but was rejected by all of the major networks before being taken up by HBO. The series ran from January 1999 until June 2007 with a total of six series and 86 episodes.
2. 1313 Mockingbird Lane, Mockingbird Heights

Answer: The Munsters

The Munsters of 1313 Mockingbird Lane consisted of father Herman, mother Lily, Grandpa, cousin Marilyn and only child Eddie.
The series premiered in September 1964 on the CBS network and ran for only two series with a total of 70 episodes. The original pilot for the show was made and screened in colour but all further episodes were filmed in black and white. Whilst the use of black and white might be seen as a ploy to make the series appear more spooky or atmospheric, it was in fact used to reduce costs of production.
3. 698 Sycamore Road, San Pueblo, California

Answer: The Partridge Family

The television show "The Partridge Family" was a manufactured singing group which was loosely based on the real family group The Cowsills who were having reasonable success in the pop charts during the late 60's. It was originally planned that The Cowsills would play the family roles themselves but due to the limited acting skills of the children and the producers having already signed Shirley Jones to replace the mother, which was unacceptable to the group, this idea was shelved and young actors were employed to take the roles instead. The show originally aired on the ABC network from September 1970 to March 1974.
4. 565 North Clinton Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Answer: Happy Days

"Happy Days" was a very popular sitcom which reflected life in the U.S. Midwest during the 1950's and 60's.
There were two main sets which were used for filming, Arnold's/Al's Drive-in and the Cunningham home. The series given address of the Cunningham home was 565 North Clinton Drive, Wisconsin but the actual property used for filming was located at North Cahuenga Boulevard, Los Angeles, not far from the Paramount Studios.
"Happy Days", which ran from January 1974 to September 1984 on the ABC Network, gave rise to several spin off sitcoms, the most successful of these being "Laverne and Shirley."
5. 255 East 73rd Street, New York

Answer: Sex and the City

This was the address of the character Carrie Bradshaw in the sitcom "Sex and the City."
The 94 episodes of "Sex and the City" aired on the HBO network from 1998 to 2004.
The series was loosely based on the weekly column and book of the same name by Candace Bushnell.
The plot follows the lives of four professional women in their 30's and 40's who confide in each other on modern social issues such as sexuality, safe sex, promiscuity and femininity. The series saw spin-off films in 2008 and in 2010.
6. Elliot Bay Towers, Apt 1901, Seattle, Washington

Answer: Frasier

"Frasier" was the spin-off show following the demise of the popular sitcom "Cheers" and focused on the character of Dr Frasier Crane, psychiatrist. The show is set in Seattle rather than Boston which was the location for "Cheers." Seattle is the home town of Frasier Crane and he is returning there to care for his father who has become ill, and to take up the post of host on a call-in psychiatry show on the radio station KACL.
The show was screened on the NBC network and ran for 11 seasons from September 1993 to May 2004.
7. Southfork, Braddock County, Texas

Answer: Dallas

The oil-rich Ewing family made their home at Southfork ranch, Texas. The actual property used for the programme was the actual home of the Duncan family and was called Duncan Acres and located in the state of Texas. Following the growing popularity of the programme, the ranch was bombarded by tourists from around the world.

The family finally sold the house and it is now a museum devoted to the show "Dallas."
8. 320 Fowler Street, Lynbrook, Long Island, New York

Answer: Everybody Loves Raymond

The show "Everybody Loves Raymond" was conceived by Phil Rosenthal after seeing Ray Romano performing a stand up routine on "The David Letterman Show." The title of the show was originally only a working title and was disliked by Romano. The source of the name was from a sarcastic comment made by his brother, who was a policeman. "Look what I do for a living and look at Raymond, yeah, everybody loves Raymond"
The show, mostly performed in front of a live audience, began in September 1996 and ended in May 2005 with 9 seasons and 210 episodes.
9. 6151 Richmond Street, Miami, Florida

Answer: The Golden Girls

"The Golden Girls" was a sitcom about four older women sharing a house in Miami, Florida. The series ran from September 1985 to May 1992.
One of the biggest fans of the show was the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and in 1988 the cast of the show were invited to do a live performance on stage at the annual Royal Variety Show.
10. 9114 South Central Avenue, Los Angeles, California

Answer: Sanford and Son

"Sanford and Son" was based on the successful U.K. comedy "Steptoe and Son" who were the notorious junk dealers plying their trade in London. The U.K. concept was adapted for the U.S. audience by Norman Lear who was the creator of the already popular show on CBS "All in the Family." The series was shown for six seasons on the NBC network from January 1972 to March 1977.
There had been an earlier attempt to bring "Steptoe and Son" to the American audience in the 1960's and a pilot for the show was produced although never shown or a series considered at that time.
