Arthur and Merlin were reunited with Mordred after many years. After Mordred stabbed Morgana, thus saving Arthur's life, Arthur decided to repay him by making him a knight of Camelot. Merlin was wary of this because of a prophecy that a druid would be the cause of Arthur's death.
When this prophecy was first mentioned (in the episode "The Beginning of the End", Mordred's debut appearance), the Great Dragon explicitly stated Mordred would be Arthur's downfall but now it was changed to an unknown druid.

Answer: Morgana

At the end of the fourth season, Aithusa found Morgana and healed her wounds. During the three year time skip that occurred between the previous season and this final season, Aithusa was by Morgana's side. Aithusa may have been hurt (having also been captured and held in the dark like Morgana was) and been unable to speak, but he was loyal to Morgana.

Answer: Arthur

Morgana believed Arthur's bane to be a creature known as the Euchdag. The truth was that it was Arthur himself. It was the Euchdag itself that told Merlin this crucial piece of information. Morgana never did learn it though.

Arthur received the Horn of Cathbad from a sorceress, an object which had the ability to communicate with the dead. Arthur decided to use it to speak with his father; however, the conversation was not what Arthur had in mind.
Uther hated that Arthur allowed commoners to become knights. Arthur replied that it didn't matter; they were fine people who would give their lives for Camelot. Uther believed that only a king who was feared could be respected. Arthur believed he should be a loving king, not a feared one. Uther wanted Arthur's marriage to form an alliance with another kingdom. However, since he married Guinevere, a commoner from Camelot, no such alliance took place.
Arthur ended his discussion with Uther disappointed.

Answer: Mithian

Princess Mithian and her father King Rodor journeyed to Camelot to discuss the attack on their kingdom. Accompanying them was Morgana, disguised as the maidservant Hilda. Morgana and King Odin, the person who attacked Rodor's kingdom, worked together to cause Arthur's death and forced Mithian and Rodor to help them.
Odin came to realize that an alliance between him and Arthur would be better and put his feud with Arthur to rest. Morgana left after she realized her plan had failed. Mithian and Rodor returned to their own land, the kingdom of Nemeth.

Answer: The Dark Tower

Morgana kidnapped Guinevere and took her to the Dark Tower to be tormented, even though Morgana tried to be friendly with her. This included hearing the cry of several mandrakes, most likely illusions since, as previously established, only those with magic could hear the cry of a mandrake. Merlin, Arthur, and the knights were able to rescue her, but not before her brother Elyan died.

In the end, Guinevere had been tormented long enough that she (temporarily) worked with Morgana.

Merlin and Arthur tried to break the spell Guinevere was under, that occurred while she was trapped in the Dark Tower. To do this, Merlin journeyed to the Dochraid who told him that she must go to the Cauldron of Arianrhod and enter its water.
Since a spell needed to be cast, Merlin was the one who performed it. To keep his magic a secret from Arthur, Merlin disguised himself as a woman, Dolma. Normally, Merlin used an old man disguise (Dragoon), but since Arthur's father was believed to be killed by Dragoon, Merlin needed a new disguise upon meeting Arthur.

Kara was a druid who was also Mordred's lover. Mordred begged for Kara's life to be spared but Arthur and Merlin did not do so. Mordred even tried to help Kara escape but this merely resulted in him being put into the dungeons. Mordred found Morgana and told her that the true identity of Emrys, the sorcerer whom Morgana feared, was actually Merlin.

Answer: Balinor, his father

Morgana wanted Merlin out of her way while she was battling Arthur at Camlann. Having already taken away his magic, she decided to trap him in the crystal cave, the birthplace of magic. Merlin tried to escape, but found it difficult and on the verge of giving up, he had a vision of his father Balinor. Merlin's father encouraged him to go to the heart of the cave to regain his magic. Merlin did and emerged from the cave the old wizard Dragoon.

After Arthur was wounded, Merlin took him to Avalon. It was not known what happened to Merlin immediately after that; however, the final scene of the series took place in the present day (noticeable by the vehicles and paved roads). Merlin continued to live as an old man in the present days still waiting for Arthur to return from Avalon.
