Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Nestled above the fiery pits of the Hellmouth, these characters spent several years fighting evil and trying to keep from being turned evil! On which show did we meet Giles, Willow, Jenny, Xander, Buffy and Joyce?

Answer: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Created by Joss Whedon, "Buffy" was originally displayed to audiences as a feature length film that starred Kristy Swanson as Buffy, and Donald Sutherland as her watcher Merrick. Though Joss was not pleased at the film's portrayal of his heroine, its director Fran Rubel Kuzui was an executive producer for both "Buffy" and "Angel". Buffy came to TV screens in 1997, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar.

She spent seven seasons living and dying on the Sunnydale Hellmouth, before she and Willow unlocked the potential slayer in thousands of women around the world.
2. The opening sequence, before credits, usually ends with Horatio sliding on his sunglasses and quipping a super cool line. Back lit by sunny Florida skies and beautiful Atlantic waters, which show brought us some of our favorite detectives in the forms of Calleigh, Speedle, Delko, Ryan Wolfe, and coroner Alexx Woods?

Answer: CSI: Miami

"CSI: Miami" spun off from the original series in 2002, with David Caruso back to television in a role made for him. Horatio Caine is a super cool police detective with a heart of gold. Despite a violent past, Horatio is considerate, sensitive, and the take charge kind.
Marc D. Alpert is the connection between "Buffy" and "CSI:Miami". He was a producer on the first and a production supervisor on "Miami". In fact, many times on "Buffy" we see an Alpert family crypt!
"Nash Bridges" starred "Miami Vice" alum Don Johnson, but was set in San Francisco.
3. From Sipowicz and John Kelly in the early years, on to Sylvia, Bobby, Diane, and Danny as those seasons wore on, this crime fighting show was set in New York City. It lasted 12 seasons and showed some skin over the years!

Answer: NYPD Blue

This show became an ABC staple for 12 long seasons. Over the years the cast offered glimpses of the more risque parts of their bodies, and actually aired past the censors! Dennis Franz played the gruff Andy Sipowicz and David Caruso ("CSI:Miami") was his partner for that first season. Jimmy Smits came into the picture in season two as Bobby Simone, to replace David.
4. Upon his sudden death, President Teddy Bridges did not want his current vice president to take over. He even tried to talk VP Mackenzie Allen into resigning in the event of his death. But, with hubby Rod Calloway by her side she faced off against her biggest opponent Nathan Templeton. Which show was this that offered us an insight into a female American President?

Answer: Commander in Chief

"Commander in Chief" ties to "NYPD:Blue" via executive producer Steven Bochco. It seemed to win its audience quickly, but upper level management changes seemed to cause the series to falter. The first, and only, season faced two hiatuses, with the final three episodes airing after most series had shown their finales for 2006.
5. Saturday mornings were never the same in America after we were shown the mischievous antics of one Zack Morris. Zack loved Kelly, Screech loved Lisa, and even Slater and Jessie dated for awhile. It was hard not to laugh the morning away as Mr. Belding tried to foil the clever Zack.

Answer: Saved By The Bell

Mark-Paul Gosselaar is the tie to "Commander in Chief", where he played Dickie McDonald opposite Geena Davis' President Allen. But, it was in the 1987 TV series "Good Morning Miss Bliss" that he began his role as Zack Morris. The show lasted just one short season before being changed into "Saved By the Bell" in 1989.

The second show lasted four seasons as is, but gave way to one last season called "Saved by the Bell: The College Years".
6. The scene is sunny California. Three undercover cops work out of a fabulous establishment known as the Candy Store. Billie calls the shots over bad boys Van and Deaq. The series lasted one season, with one of the worst unresolved cliffhangers I've been forced to endure. Billie's iced up on dope and we never know if she made it out of the situation.

Answer: Fastlane

Billie started the Candy Store undercover job with Nick McKussick. That did not end well, and he came back at the end of season one looking for revenge. While Van takes care of Nick, Nick's accomplice Gabriella nabs Billie. The next day, Gabby calls in and demands an exchange of the diamonds she and Nicks stole for Billie.

After she hangs up, Gabby shoots up a bound Billie with heroin and the scene fades out. Billie had become addicted to heroin in the recent past, while she was working undercover. We never do find out what happened to Billie, as season two was never made. Tiffani Thiessen played Billie in "Fastlane" and Kelly on "Saved By the Bell". Van was played by Peter Facinelli, who married Tiffani's "90210" co-star Jenny Garth in 2001.
7. We met the class of 1993 in 1990, when the Walshes moved from the extreme Minnesota climates to the year round warmth of Beverly Hills. Brandon soon hit it off with Steve, Brenda clicked with Kelly and Donna, and Andrea silently wondered if Brandon would ever notice her. We laughed and cried through their high school, college, and young adulthood years. We watched Dylan save the Pit, David become a drug addict, Kelly join a cult, Jim and Cindy move to China, and Brenda leave for acting school. After ten long seasons, we said goodbye to our favorite zip code away from home on "Beverly Hills, ______".

Answer: 90210

Tiffani Thiessen joined the show after Shannen Doherty left at the end of season four. Tiffani played Valerie Malone, a mixed up young woman that the Walshes had known in Minnesota. Valerie was romantically linked to Dylan, David, Steve and Brandon, but her attachments to Dylan and David lasted the longest and Brandon's was a passing brain freeze on his part. Thiessen left "90210" after four seasons, and went on to spend time on "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place", "Fastlane" and "Good Morning, Miami".
8. If you don't like, cut it off. Ah, it's the American way to alter our appearance, or so it seems. You can head back down to Miami, where crimes are solved and surgeries make dreams come true. Once there, you'll find McNamara Troy, plastics specialists. Surgeons Sean and Christian can make your nose smaller, you tummy tucked, and wile away the after hours with tales of adultery, false identities, and who the real father of Julia's children is. You may even feel satisfied about yourself, until Christian Troy convinces you he can make you even better. Don't believe me? Just ask poor Kimber, who allowed him to redo her image and make her the victim of the Carver. Which controversial TV series made you wonder what was in the water down in Miami?

Answer: Nip/Tuck

Mark D. Espinoza played Andrea's husband Jesse on "90210" and had a one episode role on "Nip/Tuck" in 2003. This is a smaller connections than most in the quiz, but still a connection. He played Ron in the episode "Sofia Lopez". "Nip/Tuck" was the second huge break out series on the FX Network, after its success with "The Shield". Sean, played by Dylan Walsh, married Julia in college.

They welcomed their first child less than nine months later, but it turned out Matt was really the biological son of Sean's friend and business partner Christian Troy.

Not only does "Nip/Tuck" deliver a bounty of graphic surgical procedures, but a fair amount of 'behind' can be seen throughout the seasons!
9. Sam, a forensic psychologist, is called out of self imposed seclusion to help her old friend Bailey. She joins forces with John, Bailey and Grace to solve murders, despite her fears of the man who'd murdered her husband. Sam is able to sort of recreate the murders, as she walks through the scenes, by vividly visualizing what happened. Sam hangs in to fight the good fight, until she is kidnapped and tortured by serial killer Jack of all Trades. After this ordeal, Sam hangs up her forensic boots and allows Rachel Burke to take her place.

Answer: Profiler

Both Roma Mafia and Julian McMahon tie "Nip/Tuck" to "Profiler". Julian played John Grant and Roma was Grace Alvarez for the entire series run, even after Ally Walker left. Ally's character, Sam Waters, did appear on a 1999 episode of "The Pretender". Michael T. Weiss' "Pretender" character, Jarod, appeared on three episodes of "Profiler", and both series ran from 1996-2000.
10. Six seasons were spent in San Francisco with the post-parental passing of the Salinger clan. Nick and Diane owned a successful local restaurant, and after they died their oldest child had to step in and run the family. Charlie was suddenly an adult as he took on responsibility for Bailey, Julia, Claudia, and Owen. Even in the face of a possibly fatal illness, Charlie did the right thing. The series ended with the entire clan selling their family home and leaving the hills of San Francisco.

Answer: Party of Five

Matthew Fox played the role of Charlie Salinger. He ran the family restaurant, took care of baby Owen, saved his brother from alcohol addiction, believed he fathered a baby with Daphne, and finally ended up married to Kirsten. Matthew began another high profile job in 2004, playing Jack Shepherd on "Lost".
Heather McComb was Frances Malone on "Profiler" and Maggie on "Party of Five". Heather married "Dawson's Creek" star James Van Der Beek in 2003.
