Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Addams Family
Answer: Uncle Fester
Uncle Fester was part of the extremely strange and wealthy Addams family. He pretty much was a copy of Curly from "The Three Stooges", but he was electrically charged. He commonly put a light bulb in his mouth, making it glow, and he spent time blowing things up. This was loosely based on cartoons drawn by Charles Addams.
2. Petticoat Junction
Answer: Uncle Joe
The song said, "Old Uncle Joe, he's moving kind of slow at the junction." This series was sort of a spin-off of "The Beverly Hillbillies" about friends of Granny. A woman with three grown daughters ran a hotel so far out in the woods that customers could only get there by train. Kate's Uncle Joe became manager after she died.
3. My Three Sons
Answer: Uncle Charlie
Uncle Charlie, a merchant seaman, moved into widower Steve's house to help him raise three sons. Charlie had been a cook on ships and did the laundry, cleaning, and cooking.
4. Family Affair
Answer: Uncle Bill
Three children lived with their single Uncle Bill after their parents died. This was much like "My Three Sons", with Mr. French running things while Bill was at work. However, this time they were one boy and two girls, and they lived in a fancy apartment.
5. Bewitched
Answer: Uncle Arthur
"Bewitched" involved a woman with magic powers who lived with a mortal man. The problems came when her relatives visited. Uncle Arthur liked to use his powers to play pranks on people, especially Samantha's husband, Darren.
6. The Andy Griffith Show
Answer: Aunt Bee
In the first episode of "The Andy Griffith Show", Aunt Bee moved in to help raise Opie for her nephew Andy, who was a widower. She did the cooking and cleaning. She was a single older woman who fixed food for the prisoners of Sheriff Andy Taylor.
7. Murder, She Wrote
Answer: Aunt Jessica
In early episodes of "Murder, She Wrote" Grady encouraged his Aunt Jessica to write murder mysteries and to solve real life cases. Jessica Fletcher traveled all over the world. Wherever she went, there happened to be a murder that she would solve.
8. Sanford and Son
Answer: Aunt Esther
Aunt Esther was the sister of Fred Sanford's dead wife. Sometimes she came over to Fred's junkyard to visit her nephew Lamont and find out about the latest scheme Fred was up to. She always held a Bible and called Fred a heathen.
9. Mama's Family
Answer: Aunt Fran
Aunt Fran lived with her sister Thelma Harper when Thelma's grown son and his two teenage children moved into the house. After the first season Aunt Fran was said to have died, so she wasn't on the show anymore.
10. Batman
Answer: Aunt Harriet
Bruce Wayne and his ward Dick lived in a mansion with Aunt Harriet and Alfred, the butler. She did not know that Bruce and Dick wore costumes and fought crime as Batman and Robin.
