Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Bob Rebadow is arrested in 1965 after stabbing a business associate in the neck with a fork, during a lunchtime meeting. What is Bob's profession?

Answer: Architect

Bob meets a business contact for a meeting at a restaurant. When Bob produces his latest blueprints, the business associate derides the drawings and screws them up. In a fit of rage, Bob grabs a fork and stabs the man in the neck before rescuing his blueprints and trying to smooth them back out.
2. Rebadow is initially sentenced to execution by which method?

Answer: Electrocution

Rebadow is sentenced to die in the electric chair but just as his execution begins, a massive blackout cuts all power to the prison, saving his life. He is sent to hospital for treatment for the injuries he has sustained during the failed attempt and by the time he is recovered, the death penalty has been abolished.

His sentence is commuted to life imprisonment, with no possibility of parole.
3. In season 1, Rebadow is violently attacked by another inmate, landing him in the hospital wing. Who attacks him?

Answer: Kenny Wangler

Wangler is only 16 years old when he arrives in Emerald City and has no respect for the other inmates. He attacks Rebadow savagely, making him terrified to return to the cell block. McManus is shocked that Wangler would stoop so low as to attack an elderly man and the incident prompts the staff to consider making a cell block exclusively for the older inmates.

The idea is ultimately rejected on grounds of the cost.
4. Rebadow has a son, Alex, and a grandson, Alex Jr., who have never met him and aren't even aware of his existence for a long time - they believe he is dead rather than in prison. They come back into Rebadow's life after he discovers that Alex Jr. is suffering from which condition?

Answer: Leukemia

Rebadow's fiance was pregnant when he was sent to prison and she died whilst giving birth to Alex. Rebadow makes his mother agree to tell Alex that he is dead because he can't bear the shame of his son knowing he is in prison. The other prisoners, on the suggestion of Jaz Hoyt, raise money to send Alex Jr. to a theme park, but even then Rebadow sends the money anonymously. Later, Rebadow agrees to meet his son and grandson for the first time and they remain in contact.
5. Rebadow is introduced to a new cell mate, Agamemnon "The Mole" Busmalis, who quickly starts digging an escape tunnel with Rebadow's help. When the Aryans discover the tunnel and demand to switch cells with Rebadow and Busmalis, how does Rebadow respond?

Answer: He calmly agrees to switch cells.

Busmalis is stunned by Rebadow's compliance but Rebadow explains that he has learnt during his many years in Oz that sometimes it's safer just to accept the hand you have been dealt. He does, however, get Busmalis to agree to loosen the support beams inside the tunnel, so that it collapses when the Aryans try to travel through it, killing them.

They avoid being convicted for the deaths by claiming that the Aryans forced them to build the tunnel.
6. During season 3, Rebadow passes out in the cafeteria, leading him to discover that he has which medical condition?

Answer: Diabetes

Rebadow finds that he has developed diabetes and will require regular treatment at the hospital as well as changing his diet. He does later develop a brain tumour, but this happens during season 4 and he collapses in his cell. Both hypertension and Alzheimer's do also make an appearance in "Oz" - Kareem Said is diagnosed with hypertension in season 1 and in the same season, Miguel Alvarez's grandfather, Ricardo, develops Alzheimer's.
7. Who does Rebadow stab, on orders from Enrique Morales?

Answer: Raoul Hernandez

Morales decides Hernandez needs to go so that he can take over leadership of the Latinos. Hernandez has become so paranoid that Morales can't get near enough to do the deed, so he decides that he must pick a murderer who Hernandez will not see as a threat - Rebadow.

After Morales arranges for Rebadow to be moved into Hernandez's cell, Rebadow stabs Hernandez in the neck and later claims it was self defence. The murder seems to spark a personality change in Rebadow and he becomes more confident and aggressive.

He later attempts to stab Busmalis, but this appears to be a result of his brain tumour.
8. When Rebadow believes that God has told him the winning lottery numbers, who does he ask to buy a ticket on his behalf?

Answer: Dave Brass

Rebadow wants to use the winnings to put towards treatment for Alex Jr.'s leukemia, so he asks Officer Brass to buy a ticket with the numbers that God has revealed to him. Officer Brass buys the ticket, but when he sees that it has won, he takes the money and disappears.

He later feels guilty and returns, offering Rebadow the remainder of the money, but it is too late - Alex Jr. has died.
9. In season 6, Rebadow is reassigned to work in the library. Where does he work prior to this?

Answer: Dress factory

Rebadow's work assignment is never really focused on until Busmalis suggests the change of scenery as an attempt to alleviate his depression. It is whilst working in the library that he meets new librarian Stella Coffo, who he feels a strong connection with.
10. Why does Rebadow try to distance himself from Stella?

Answer: He discovers that she has cancer

Stella is diagnosed with breast cancer and Rebadow has trouble dealing with this; after the death of Alex Jr, he is afraid to get close to Stella knowing that there's a possibility that she might die too. Stella has an operation, which is successful, and Rebadow begins to open up to her once more.
