Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is responsible for informing the police of Augustus' whereabouts, thereby leading to his arrest?

Answer: Kevin "Supreme Allah" Ketchum

Augustus was wanted on a drug warrant, and is sold out by fellow drug dealer, Supreme Allah, in return for leniency on his own charges. Augustus is unaware of this until season 4, when Burr Redding is sent to Oz and tells Augustus to be wary of Supreme. Augustus and Supreme have a volatile relationship from this point onwards. Eventually, things escalate to such a point that Augustus arranges for Supreme's food to be spiked with eggs - a food he is deathly allergic to - resulting in his death from anaphylactic shock.
2. Augustus is paralysed from the waist down after an incident during his arrest. What happens to cause his paralysis?

Answer: He is thrown from a rooftop by a police officer.

After receiving information about Augustus' whereabouts, the police burst into his apartment whilst he is making love to his wife. Augustus grabs his gun, then flees - naked - out the window, and is pursued across the nearby rooftops. He fires his gun and hits a police officer.

The other officers retaliate by apprehending him, handcuffing him, then throwing him from the rooftop. As well as receiving life imprisonment, Augustus is also forced to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
3. During the riot, Augustus asks Jackson Vahue to help an injured man. Who is the injured person?

Answer: Eugene Dobbins

Eugene Dobbins is a cellist whom Augustus admires. Jackson Vahue was previously Augustus' hero, and when the famous basketball star was sent to live in Emerald City, Augustus was thrilled. Jackson proves to be a poor role model, however, and ends up getting Augustus to use heroin again. After realising that Jackson is not the idol he perceived him to be, Augustus rejects him. Jackson later destroys Eugene's cello out of jealousy that Eugene is allowed to nurture his talent whilst in prison.

During the riot, Eugene is stabbed and severely injured. Augustus is desperate to save him, but is unable to carry him or get him through the barricade. After using Jackson's guilt to convince him to help, he manages to get Eugene removed from the riot and taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, Eugene still dies of his injuries.
4. Why is Augustus afraid when he is assigned Tobias Beecher as a cellmate?

Answer: He knows that Beecher had attacked a previous cellmate, James Robson.

After the riot, the prisoners from Emerald City are forced into overcrowded cells with the prisoners from Unit B. When James Robson, an Aryan inmate, tries to force Beecher to perform a sexual act, Beecher bites off the tip of his penis. Although this was done in self defence, Augustus is still panicked.

Initially Augustus and Beecher do not get on, fueled by Augustus' hatred of lawyers, but they later form a sort of friendship, and are often seen sitting together in later series'.
5. Which of the following inmates does NOT agree to protect Augustus Hill from Kenny Wangler, after Augustus tells the warden about Malcolm Coyle's crimes?

Answer: Simon Adebisi

Kareem Said sees that Augustus is in danger from Kenny Wangler and his cohorts, so he asks some of the high-ranking prisoners from the other groups to help protect him. Schillinger is the biggest surprise - as the leader of the Aryan brotherhood, it's unexpected for him to agree to protect a black inmate - but he agrees to help because as a father, he is sickened by Coyle's murder of an entire family.

At the time of this incident, Adebisi is in the psych ward, so is never approached to help protect Augustus.
6. Season three ends with Augustus being thrown into the hole after being caught with a contraband item. Which forbidden item does he have?

Answer: An adult magazine

A recent rule had been put into effect, banning pornographic material until the prisoners could learn to keep their cell block clean and tidy. Adebisi gives Augustus a magazine, which the COs then spot. After being thrown into the hole, without his wheelchair, for this seemingly minor infraction, many of the inmates of the prison protest by chanting "Set Hill Free!" over and over again, even after they are locked down.
7. Augustus recognises that his cellmate, Desmond Mobay, is an undercover police officer after two incidents. The first is when Augustus recognises the woman pretending to be Mobay's girlfriend. What is the second?

Answer: Mobay forgets to use his fake accent.

Desmond Mobay is actually an undercover narcotics officer, Johnny Basil. His partner, Kina, was one of the officers on scene after Augustus' arrest, and he recognises her, though it takes him a while to figure out why he knows her. One night, whilst high on heroin, Mobay makes a comment to Augustus, and forgets to use his fake Jamaican accent. Augustus eventually convinces Mobay to admit that he is responsible for the death of Bruno Goergen, and Mobay - or Basil as he is now known - is sent to Unit J for his own protection.
8. Burr Redding casts Augustus out of the Homeboys after he warns the guards of Burr's proposed attack on which groups?

Answer: The Italians and the Latinos

Latino leader Enrique Morales and Italian leader Chucky Pancamo approach Burr and invite him to join them in leading the drug trade. Burr rejects their offer, instead planning to take over the entire trade himself. When he plans to start a war between the groups, Augustus knows that many inmates will lose their lives, so he tells CO Sean Murphy, who puts a stop to things before they can begin. Burr tells Augustus that if anyone else had betrayed him, they would be killed, but as he and Augustus have a history, he will allow him to live, albeit ostracized from the group. Augustus is later allowed back into the fold after killing Supreme Allah, though he refuses to sell drugs.
9. After the death of his mother, Eugenia, Augustus sinks into depression. During this time, he ends up in the hospital wing and nearly dies. Why is he hospitalised?

Answer: He has kidney failure.

The death of Eugenia, as well as the news that Annabella is divorcing him, sends Augustus into a downward spiral. In an attempt to help ease his pain, Poet offers Augustus some heroin, and he soon becomes hooked once again. He spends so much time on heroin, not caring about himself, that he neglects to take care of his catheter and ends up with kidney failure. Both Tim McManus and Burr Redding are furious that someone gave Augustus heroin, and they set about to investigate.
10. Who kills Augustus Hill?

Answer: Frank Urbano

After the investigation into who provided Augustus with the heroin falsely leads Burr to blame the Latinos, the Latinos enlist the Italians to kill Burr. When Frank Urbano attempts to stab Burr, Augustus gets in the way and is stabbed instead. He dies in the arms of Tim McManus, and uses his last breath to tell McManus that he can feel his legs.
