"RuPaul's Drag Race" - Season 5 Quiz

This fifth season brought out the fishiest queens yet with contestants ranging from pageant queens to Miss Gay America contestants to Puerto Rican and Panamanian representatives and more. In addition to thirteen hand-selected by RuPaul to jump into the thick of things, one queen-- Penny Tration-- was brought into the competition by online fan voting.

But being a fan favourite couldn't save her from being cut in the first week. After a water-logged photo shoot with Mike Ruiz and a dumpster-diving challenge that culminated in a red carpet trash-for-fashion runway walk, Penny was asked to lipsynch for her life and was sent packing.

As the queens got more comfortable with the show, Ru inevitably gave them a more complicated acting task. While week two asked the queens to lipsynch past scenes involving queens from other seasons, week three sent them to the set of a children's show where they needed to script and act the entire thing in large groups (led by Alaska and Lineysha Sparx).

The queens were all judged individually and in the end, Monica Beverly Hillz's two-episode arc revealing her status as a transgendered woman came to an end, leaving eleven in the competition.

After a week of learning ballet and performing RuPaul's personal story on the main stage via the medium of dance, the queens were brought before Ru, Michelle, Santino, and guest judges Travis Wall and Chaz Bono for their critiques. What followed was a lipsynch between Honey Mahogany and Vivienne Pinay wherein they had to perform the Britney classic "Oops... I Did It Again" to stay in the competition. To the others' shock and dismay, Ru sent both queens home, claiming that neither of them had the fire they needed to become the next Drag Superstar.

It was the first double elimination in the show's history.

Answer: Beyonce

Snatch Game always brings out the best and worst of drag queen performances, and this season, the queens either knocked it out of the park or fell flat. In this case, the ones who fell flat were most definitely those portraying singers. Detox and Lineysha Sparx went into the lipsynch in this episode and the latter went home. Following this, more music was made when the queens had to sing a charity single with RuPaul called 'Can I Get an Amen?'. Following this, Jade Jolie was sent home and only seven queens remained in the race.

In the seventh week of the competition, the queens were told, after a quick 'Reading is Fundamental' mini-challenge, that they would need to prepare jokes for a Roast of RuPaul, and after some training from writer Bruce Vilanch, they would take to the stage in front of a live audience and give their jokes to the judging panel.

After this, Roxxxy Andrews and Alyssa Edwards were deemed the worst of the week and forced to lipsynch to "Whip My Hair" by Willow Smith. Both showed enough determination to give Ru no other choice; both remained in the competition in a surprise twist.

The rivalry ended up playing out not only throughout the regular episodes, but almost weekly in the "Untucked" mini-episodes chronicling the backstage antics of the queens during their runway and judging sessions. Since day one, Alyssa and Coco battled it out because of their sordid history involving a Miss Gay America pageant the previous year. Ultimately, Alyssa and Coco saw the most lipsynchs in this season (Alyssa had three and Coco had four), but in week nine they went head-to-head singing Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted". Alyssa went home and Coco left the week after.

Answer: Sweet Emotions

To lead the final four to their semifinal runway, RuPaul ended up forcing the queens to make outfits inspired by and utilizing candy. Each queen made three outfits, the first being a youthful Sweet 16, the second being a high-powered business outfit, and the third being haute couture-inspired.

In the end, the final lipsynch was between Jinkx Monsoon and Detox with the former finally sending one of the 'Rolaskatox' trifecta out of the competition.

Answer: Alaska

In the queens' final week of competition, Alaska, Jinkx, and Roxxxy had to take on more than they ever had to in the previous weeks. To begin, the three of them needed to learn choreography and act for RuPaul's official music video for "The Beginning". Following this, all three met with famous prosecutor Gloria Allred and had lunch with RuPaul herself. And then, as if that weren't enough, all three had to learn a dramatic courtroom scene, but from three different roles (defendant, defence attorney, and prosecuting attorney). And, of course, the three had a final runway.

By the end of the competition, Alaska was the only queen not to have to lipsynchs; Roxy had one and Jinkx had one.

Answer: Ivy Winters

During the Reunion special for the season, it was seventh-place contestant Ivy Winters who ended up getting crowned Miss Congeniality for the competition. After spending the season making each and every one of her costumes by hand, her tendency to play without throwing shade or forming rivalries worked in her favour. Latrice Royale, the previous season's Miss Congeniality, handed the sash off to the new winner after the fan vote was tallied.

She also won a trip for two.

Answer: Jinkx Monsoon

After a final runway, RuPaul waited until the Reunion show to bring together all of the queens from the season and crown the winner with the help of fans of the show. In the end, Ru gave the prize to Seattle-based queen Jinkx Monsoon, giving her the title of "America's Next Drag Superstar" over Alaska and Roxxxy Andrews, both of whom would return to compete in the "All-Stars" season.

In addition to the title, Jinkx ended up winning the $100,000 grand prize, a lifetime supply of cosmetics, a headline position on Logo's Drag Race Tour, and a trip from Al and Chuck Travel.
