Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does Zach call the bone storage portion of the Jeffersonian?

Answer: limbo

Dr. Goodman did not like his use of the word limbo to describe their long term storage for bones. But, Zach said that is exactly what it is, a place for the bones to wait indefinitely to be identified.
2. What was the first title of Brennan's new book?

Answer: Bone Free

When Boothe saw the title, he thought it was awful. Brennan would not let him get past the title, though, and it peeked his curiosity even more. He was even more bewildered and curious when he found out that Brennan's male friend, David, had been allowed to read it.
3. After the bones are identified as Christine Brennan, Booth drops by Temperance's place after midnight with what kind of food?

Answer: Chinese

He said it was from Wong Fu's, but I could not locate one in either Washington DC or Virgina. While they ate, Booth told Brennan he'd done some research on her parents after they first met. Now, with the identification official, he could legally look into it. He'd found their old family car in an impound facility in New Jersey, and it was on its way to them so they could look it over.
4. Brennan believed her mother to be a bookkeeper and her father to be a high-school Science teacher. But, upon investigation they found out that Christine Brennan did not even exist before 1978. What was her name before that year?

Answer: Ruth

Max and Ruth Kennan were her parents' real names. They'd lead a life of crime, and changed their names to avoid a gang they'd been involved with.
5. Jack found a movie ticket inside the clothing with Christine Brennan's body. It was from 1993, almost two years after her initial disappearance. What movie was the ticket admission for?

Answer: The Fugitive

Brennan did not want to believe her mother had died almost two years after her initial disappearance. That would have meant she left her and never came back, which was the truth. But, Brennan did find out why she never came back. Christine left her daughter to try and throw the trail off for McVicar.
All of the movie choices listed were released in 1993.
6. Brennan and her brother Russ used to have a code word game. What words did they say to each other?

Answer: Marco Polo

She said that she would sometimes hear him say "Marco" from outside her classroom and she would answer "Polo". Brennan admitted it was sometimes the only thing she ever said all day. She felt like Russ had abandoned her after their parents had disappeared, but he explained that everyone told him it was the right thing to do.

He'd also made a promise to their father to never reveal their true identities. Russ pointed out to Temperance he had tried to maintain contact with her, by calling her every year on her birthday.
7. Russ revealed the real names he and his sister had before they became the Brennans. His name was Kyle, what was Temperance's name?

Answer: Joy

Booth told her it was all in the file, but she wanted to hear it from Russ. Russ admitted a man (McVicar) had scared their father, and after that day they became the Brennan family. For awhile after hearing this news, Temperance felt a loss of her identity. Russ called his sister Tempe through most of the show.
8. Booth found McVicar living on a pig farm. How did he introduce himself to Booth and Brennan when they arrived?

Answer: Steve Beers

McVicar had ratted out his gang of armed robbers and received a new identity. But, Booth rattled some cages and found out how to find this man. Brennan needed more answers to how her mother died and where her father ended up. McVicar spun a tale about how Ruth Keenan and he had been in love and how Temperance's father had murdered Ruth in a jealous rage.

He showed a scar on his own head, to prove he'd barely escaped. The truth was that he'd killed Ruth, who was Christine Brennan at the time of her death.

They found the murder weapon on his pig farm, even thirteen years after the murder. Steve Beers is one of the executive producers on "Bones". This title is one he carried on "Prison Break", "Dead Like Me", "Taken", and the "21 Jumpstreet" spin-off "Booker".
9. At the end of the episode, Booth saw Brennan's manuscript again. This time the old title was crossed out. When he opened the title page, whom did he see that the book was dedicated to?

Answer: himself

She dedicated it to her good friend and partner, special agent Seeley Booth, and had changed the name to "Cross Bones". This title is the real name of one of Kathy Reichs' novels.
10. Did Temperance's father leave her a phone message at the end of the episode?

Answer: Yes

She'd presumed him dead along with her mother, but had no idea when or where it had happened. McVicar had been no help in that department. He'd tried to bribe her to get rid of the murder weapon used on Christine, in exchange for info on her father. When she refused, he told her she would never know what happened to him. But, alas he was still alive.

She, Booth and Russ were all in her home when she played the message back. She and Russ both confirmed that the voice was that of their father. The season ended with their father warning Temperance to back off for her own safety.
