Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these New Direction members did not perform 'Good Vibrations'?

Answer: Quinn

This song is covered in the episode 'Funk' by Mercedes, Puck and Finn as part of Mr Schue's assignment. Quinn also performed a song for the assignment by doing a cover of 'It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World'. Originally, 'Good Vibrations' was sung by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
2. Which of these 'Journey' songs was not covered by 'Glee' in season one?

Answer: 'Open Arms'

All the other options were performed by the New Directions at their Regionals competition. 'Don't Stop Believing', another song by Journey, was also sung at Regionals, as well as in the pilot episode.
3. Which member of the New Directions sung Katy Perry's 'I Kissed a Girl' for their audition piece?

Answer: Tina

Tina's audition is featured in the first episode, 'Pilot'. Other audition pieces included Mercedes' cover of Aretha Franklin's 'Respect', Kurt's cover of 'Mr. Cellophane', and Rachel singing 'On My Own'.
4. Which of these songs do both Rachel and Kurt sing?

Answer: 'Defying Gravity'

'Defying Gravity' is originally from the Broadway musical, 'Wicked'. On 'Glee', the song is sung by Rachel and Kurt as they battle for the lead solo. However, after his father receives a hurtful anonymous phone call regarding Kurt's decision to try out for a traditionally female role, Kurt purposely misses the high F, throwing the competition and allowing Rachel to win.
5. Which of these songs was not sung by members of the New Directions?

Answer: 'You Raise Me Up/Magic'

The mash-up of Josh Groban's 'You Raise Me Up' and Olivia Newton-John's 'Magic', was sung by Aural Intensity at Regionals. Their song selection was evidently engineered to appeal to the celebrity judges, Josh Groban and Olivia Newton-John, granting them an unfair advantage in the competition. Aural Intensity placed second at that year's Regionals, losing to Carmel's Vocal Adrenaline.
6. Whose idea was it originally to sing 'Don't Stop Believin'' in the 'Pilot'?

Answer: Finn's

Finn hears the song playing on the radio of his mother's old fling as he sprays the school's grass green, and decides the New Directions should perform it. As they perform, Mr. Schuester, who had decided to quit teaching to become an accountant, sees, and decides he cannot leave his passion for teaching.

'Don't Stop Believin'', originally sung by Journey, was the first song to be released from the 'Glee' soundtrack as a single.
7. Which of these is the first song performed by Vocal Adrenaline on 'Glee'?

Answer: 'Rehab'

Vocal Adrenaline performed Amy Winehouse's 'Rehab' at an invitational in the episode 'Showmance'. They also performed 'Bohemian Rhapsody', by Queen, but it was not until the season one finale, 'Journey to Regionals'.

'Bootylicious', originally sung by Destiny's Child, is performed by the Jane Adams' Girls Choir, while 'Imagine', originally by John Lennon, is performed by Haverbrook School for the Deaf. Both of these two songs appear in the episode 'Hairography'.
8. Which member of the Glee club sings the Pretenders' 'I'll Stand by You'?

Answer: Finn Hudson

As suggested by Kurt, Finn decides to sing this song to Quinn's child, who he believes he has fathered. As he sings to a sonogram, his mother walks in, and he is forced to confess about Quinn's pregnancy.
9. Which two members of the New Directions sing 'The Boy is Mine'?

Answer: Santana and Mercedes

This song is sung in the episode, 'Laryngitis', by Santana and Mercedes as they fight over Puck. The song was originally sung by Brandy and Monica.
10. Which of these Madonna songs was NOT featured in the episode, 'The Power of Madonna'?

Answer: 'Papa Don't Preach'

Although 'Papa Don't Preach' is covered by the 'Glee' cast, more specifically Quinn, it appears in the episode, 'Hairography', not 'The Power of Madonna'. Quinn performs this song, accompanied by Puck on guitar, while babysitting Terri Schuester's sister, Kendra's sons.
