Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle", Puck and Rachel sing Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" in the choir room. Who watches their performance?

Answer: The football team

The original version of "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum received great success in 2011, winning four Grammys. Upon its release in 2009 on the album of the same name, it advanced up the Billboard charts to number one, peaking at the top on three of them (and showing on six total).

It reached number two on the Hot 100 and ended up on eight Billboard year-end charts and went four times platinum. The "Glee" version, appearing on "Glee: The Music, Volume 5", reached number sixty-two on the Billboard Hot 100. In this particular episode, Puck plays guitar and duets with Rachel in the choir room.

The song was performed to show the guys' football team how to perform together. Of course, due to rising tensions, everyone ended up brawling after the song was done.
2. Dressed up as zombies, the male Glee Club members and the football team perform which classic song by The Zombies in "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle"?

Answer: She's Not There

Finally able to work together, the Glee guys and the football team combined their efforts to sing and dance to The Zombies' "She's Not There" on stage for the other members of the club. Finn leads the vocals while they shuffle around in full zombie make-up. Of course, this excitement and camaraderie is short-lived after the hockey team slushies the football guys. The original version of the song by The Zombies was a classic from 1964.

Their first single, it reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100; the "Glee" version peaked at number eighty-seven and appeared on "Glee: The Music, Volume 5".
3. "Bills Bills Bills" is performed in "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" by which of these options?

Answer: The Dalton Academy Warblers

Originally by Destiny's Child, "Bills Bills Bills" was first released in 1999 (on the album "The Writing's on the Wall"). Hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100, it was also nominated for two Grammy Awards and became one of the group's first major hits.

This, of course, was back when the group had four members. The "Glee" version showed up on "Glee: The Music, Presents the Warblers" and peaked at number forty-four. In this episode, the Warblers don't appear too much. Blaine leads the club into this particular song while at Dalton Academy in preparation for Regionals. Kurt and Blaine are later seen at the big football game.
4. In "The Sue Sylvester Shuffle", New Directions and the football team combine The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Heads Will Roll" with what Michael Jackson song?

Answer: Thriller

For the McKinley football halftime show, New Directions and the football team join together to perform this particular mash-up dressed entirely in zombie garb. Their gathering together inevitably gives them the motivation they need to beat the opposing team after a miserable first half (during which most of the team was purposely absent). The "Glee" mash-up of "Thriller" and "Heads Will Roll" reached number thirty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and it appeared on "Glee: The Music, Volume 5". The original "Thriller", by Michael Jackson, was the title track on the world's top-selling record (of all time!) while The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Heads Will Roll", from their 2009 album, "It's Blitz!" didn't chart in the U.S.
5. To whom is the "Fat Bottomed Girls" rendition found in "Silly Love Songs" directed?

Answer: Lauren

The original "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen was one of the band's many hits. It appeared on the group's 1978 album, "Jazz", and hit number twenty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100. The "Glee" version peaked at number fifty-six and showed on "Glee: The Music, Volume 5".
In "Silly Love Songs", Puck works to earn the attention of Lauren Zizes by any means. In order to comply to that week's theme of love, he decides to sing a love song to her and he chooses Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls". At the end of the song, she says that no one has ever sung a song for her but she found it insulting.
6. In "Silly Love Songs", Kurt sings "When I Get You Alone" to Blaine.

Answer: False

Blaine is actually the one to sing this particular song in "Silly Love Songs". When he announces his plan to the Warblers, they all follow him along to the GAP to back him up in a musical love letter to an employee named Jeremiah. The song thrills the customers in the store, but it gets Jeremiah fired from his job. Soon after, Kurt expresses his true feelings for Blaine. "When I Get You Alone" was originally performed by Robin Thicke on his 2002 album, "A Beautiful World".

The disc reached number four on the Billboard Heatseekers chart while the single hit number twenty-nine on the Hot 100. Blaine's rendition reached number forty-seven on the Hot 100 and appeared on "Glee: The Music, Presents the Warblers".
7. A certain Katy Perry song is performed by Rachel in "Silly Love Songs". Which song is it?

Answer: Firework

"Firework" was the highest-charting single from "Silly Love Songs"; it peaked at number thirty-four and appeared on "Glee: The Music, Volume 5". The original version of the song by Katy Perry appeared on her third album, "Teenage Dream", where it reached number one on five different Billboard charts and went four times Platinum in the United States. In the episode, "Firework" is performed by Rachel as her contribution to the club's theme-of-the-week.

Her version spurs from Finn's comment that he saw fireworks when he kissed Quinn again.

This allows her to move on from her and Finn's ended relationship.
8. During her "I Know What Boys Like" solo in "Comeback", Lauren is convinced by Puck to do which of these?

Answer: Picture everyone in their underwear

"Comeback" marks the first episode in which Lauren Zizes performs a solo for New Directions. In order to step up and break out of her shell, she decides to sing her own anthem, "I Know What Boys Like" by The Waitresses, and she has Puck play guitar while she sings.

The reason she pictures the class in their underwear is because she's nervous; Puck suggests this standard vulnerability trick because it's worked for him in the past. The original "I Know What Boys Like" (by The Waitresses) reached a peak of number sixty-two on the Billboard Hot 100; the "Glee" version failed to chart and it did not appear on "Glee: The Music, Volume 5".
9. Which New Directions member is the only one to sing both "Baby" and "Somebody to Love" (both by Justin Bieber) in "Comeback"?

Answer: Sam

The two songs by Bieber to crop up in "Comeback" are "Baby" and "Somebody to Love" and both are spearheaded by Sam who uses Bieber's charm to win over the girls of New Directions, most specifically Quinn. The first is sung solo by Sam while the second is performed by Sam, Mike, Artie, and Puck under the moniker 'The Justin Bieber Experience'. Both are cited by Sam as classic anthems of their generation; Finn would beg to differ. The "Glee" version of "Baby" reached number forty-seven on the Billboard Hot 100 while 'Somebody to Love' hit number sixty-two. Both appeared on "Glee: The Music, Volume 5". Bieber's original versions of these songs (appearing on "My World" and "My World 2.0" respectively) reached number five and number fifteen on the Hot 100.
10. In "Comeback", the song "Take Me or Leave Me" is performed as which of these?

Answer: A duet

"Take Me or Leave Me" was originally a song from "Rent" sung by Maureen and Joanne in Act 2. These roles are taken on by Rachel and Mercedes during a diva-off in "Comeback". The two of them initially sing to one-up each other in the choir room, but they find more respect for each other having matched up so well.
The "Glee" version of the song clocked in at number fifty-one on the Billboard Hot 100 and found its way onto "Glee: The Music, Volume 5". It was the only Broadway song to be featured on the album.
