Songs Covered by 'Glee' (Season Two) Quiz

Answer: 'Empire State of Mind'

The New Directions perform this song in the first episode of season two, 'Audition'. The song choice was due to the fact that Nationals for show choir were going to be held in New York, and the kids from New Direction were hoping this would encourage more people to join.

Answer: 'Every Rose Has its Thorn'

Sam Evans is a new student who becomes the target of Finn's recruitment of new members for the Glee club. Desperate for new members, Finn tries to encourage his fellow football players to join, and ends up hearing Sam singing 'Every Rose Has its Thorn' in the shower. With a little bending of the truth (Glee club WILL make you cool, if you ask Finn), he convinces Sam to audition for the New Directions.

Answer: 'Me Against the Music'

Although all of these songs appeared in the episode, only 'Me Against the Music' is performed by both Brittany and Santana. Brittany also performs 'I'm a Slave 4 U' while 'Toxic' is performed by the New Directions, with Brittany and Mr Schuester having solos. 'Stronger' appears in Artie's dream sequence, which is set on a football field.

'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' is a duet performed by Finn and Rachel in the episode, 'Duets'.

Quinn sings both 'Lucky' and 'I've Had the Time of My Life' with Sam, in the episode, 'Duets' and 'Special Education', respectively.

The sectionals episode in season two is titled 'Special Education'.

While the Warblers perform 'Hey Soul Sister', the New Directions focus on the minorities in the club, and feature Santana singing 'Valerie', whilst Brittany and Mike perform an elaborate dance routine. Quinn and Sam also perform a duet, 'I've Had the Time of My Life', for Sectionals.

Answer: Brittany and Artie

This original song appears in the season two finale, 'New York'. It is written by Artie and Brittany as a candidate for a song to perform for Nationals. Other original 'Glee' songs include 'Get It Right' and 'Loser Like Me'.

Answer: Songbird

Santana sings the song, originally by Fleetwood Mac, to Brittany to show her how she feels about her. Earlier, in the episode 'Sexy', the pair sung 'Landslide' together, along with the help of Holly Holiday, for the same purpose.

Answer: 'One of Us'

All of these songs are sung in the religion-based episode, 'Grilled Cheesus', however, only 'One of Us' is performed by the entire 'New Directions'.

'I Look to You' is sung by Mercedes, while 'Papa, Can You Hear Me?' is sung by Rachel. Kurt sings 'I Want to Hold Your Hand', originally by The Beatles, to his dad, Burt, who is comatose at the time.

'Science Fiction/Double Feature' opens both the episode, and the original 1975 movie, and plays while the opening credits are being shown. The video consists of bright red lips against a black background. In the 'Glee' episode, Santana Lopez performs the song, whilst Riff Raff sings in the original movie.

'Hot Patootie - Bless My Soul' is performed by Eddie, who is played by Carl in 'Glee' and Meat Loaf in 'Rocky Horror Picture Show'. 'Dammit Janet' is sung by Brad and Janet, who are portrayed by Finn and Rachel in the 'Glee' episode.

In 'Rocky Horror Picture Show', Dr Frank'n'Furter, played by Tim Curry, sings the song, 'I Can Make You a Man'. Although Frank'n'Furter is played by Mercedes Jones in the 'Glee' version, this song is not performed.

Answer: Heads will roll

'Sue Sylvester Shuffle', also known as the Superbowl episode, premiered in 2011 after the Superbowl, to one of the largest audiences in 'Glee' history. The main number in the episode was a mash-up of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 'Heads Will Roll'. It was performed by the New Directions as well as the McKinley High football team.
