She kidnapped and tied up Dean, planning to open the rift so her mate could possess him. When she told Dean her tale of woe, his sarcastic response was, "Oh my God, that's tragic.

It's like a Hallmark movie. But with tentacles."

Much to Sam's dismay, Dean went without him. He told his brother that if something went wrong, Sam needed to stay behind to rescue him. Since Ketch knew he was being hunted by Asmodeus for stealing the Prince of Hell's prisoner and archangel blade, he decided to get off their world and join Dean. Dean agreed.

Dean and Ketch witnessed angels killing human prisoners. Then, one prisoner was unmasked, and Dean realized it was Charlie - from this other world. Dean and Ketch followed the angels and Charlie back to their camp, in the hopes of saving Charlie and finding Mary and Jack.

Cas read the story to Sam, translating the Enochian. Gabriel had tricked Lucifer into killing a fake Gabriel in season 5. Gabriel next wrote about his capture and endless torture by Asmodeus, who fed on Gabriel's grace.

Asmodeus tracked down Gabriel to the bunker. He first called Sam and demanded Sam return the archangel he'd been feeding on for so long. When Sam refused, he attacked, breaking into the bunker. Sam and Cas attempted to stop him. Then Gabriel, who had gotten some of his grace back when Ketch stole it from Asmodeus and Sam and Cas gave it to him, found the power to fight back and killed Asmodeus.

Rowena and her partner performed a flawless tango - and as she was dipped by her partner, she executed a spell that caused a woman to burst into flames. This scene took place in Portland, Oregon; the same city the brothers were in during season 6's "Like a Virgin."

Jessica told the brothers she had been watching them on Death's orders, ever since Dean almost died in "Advanced Thanatology." They were both clearly uneasy to hear all she had seen. While she mentioned the other three items, she did not mention candy, and it would be unlikely that Sam would stash candy, since he always eats healthy, as was again exhibited in the episode right before "Funeralia," - "Bring 'Em Back Alive." Jessica offered to help stop Rowena, who was killing people before their times - and killing reapers, as well.

Naomi appeared to be killed by Metatron in the season 8 episode "Sacrifice," but she showed up in season 13's "Funeralia." She then explained that there were so few angels left that heaven was running out of power, and she told him they needed Gabriel to keep heaven running. Without him, heaven would crumble and all the souls in heaven would fall to earth and become ghosts.

Rowena told the brothers that Fergus (Crowley) deserved better. Dean told her he was not coming back, and she replied, "Are only Winchesters allowed to come back from the dead? The rest of us just have to accept it? I don't think so. I'm putting Death on notice." She then tried to blackmail Death into bringing back her son by threatening to kill Sam, but Death refused.

Rowena used her power on Death to try to force her to bring Crowley back. It had no impact on Death. Once Death left, and a weeping Rowena was left with Sam and Dean, they told her Crowley's fate was not her fault, and asked her to help them save the world.

They also told her Lucifer was back. She noted that Sam was destined to kill her, but Dean responded with this statement. He then asked her to join them in their efforts to save their family and their world.
