As the brothers were searching for Gabriel to try to convince him to help them, the Archangel showed up at their hotel room door, injured. Haggis is a Scottish dish made of sheep's heart, liver, lungs and stomach, with onion, oatmeal, suet and spices. Rowena, like Crowley, was from Scotland.

Gabriel referred to Loki as "the man with the plan," "the architect of my torture, and my own personal numero uno." Loki was, of course, the demigod Gabriel used as his disguise all those years when he was in "witness protection." Ganesh, Kali, and Bladur were gods from the season 5 episode, "Hammer of the Gods." This was also the episode where it appeared that Lucifer had killed Gabriel.

It turned out that the reason Loki betrayed Gabriel was to get revenge because Gabriel's brother Lucifer killed Loki's father Odin in - you guessed it - "Hammer of the Gods."

Michael's angels left their camp and leaked word to the resistance fighters, including Jack and Mary, that they were gone. Mary was cautious, wanting to wait for the group led by Bobby to return and join them before they went there. But Jack was confident he could protect his friends, and insisted they go. Once there, they found Kevin locked up. Kevin told them that Michael was planning to invade Mary's world.

Then, he revealed that he was a suicide bomber, detonating his bomb and killing the resistance fighters with Jack and Mary.

Sam called his brother out for leaving him behind when he went to Apocalypse World with Ketch and when he went after Loki. Dean told him he was trying to protect Sam, since the last time they "had front row tickets to the Lucifer/Michael Show . . . You died and went to Hell." He continued, telling his brother, "This time, the Apocalypse isn't looking for us. We're actually looking for it. I don't care what happens to me. I never really have.

But I do care about what happens to my brother." The above quote was Sam's response.

"Cat's in the Cradle" was playing as the brothers and their allies began to implement Sam's plan. As he served him drinks, the bartender listened to Lucifer's self pitying rants. Lucifer slowly realized he had been drugged, and that the bartender was Gabriel, who had used a "magical roofie" on his brother.

The team then used the captured Devil as "grace on tap," draining him and keeping the rift open while they went on a rescue mission to Apocalypse World.

Lucifer was tormenting Rowena, reminding her of when he killed her. To stop him, she attempted to turn the tables by telling him that Jack was in Apocalypse World with the Winchesters and Castiel, and the boy considered them his fathers, not Lucifer. That made Lucifer angry, and gave him the strength to break his supernatural bonds.

He attacked Rowena, choking her, and when she hurled him off her, she accidentally flung him right through the rift.

The group was on the way to Dayton to find Jack and Mary when they were attacked by vampires. Sam was killed, and Dean was unable to save him. Cas told Dean they did not have time to stop. Dean left with the group, mourning his brother, while intending to retrieve his body later. Fortunately for Sam, Lucifer tracked him to the tunnel and brought him back to life, hoping that saving Sam would convince Jack to give him a chance.

The expert was Apocalypse World Castiel. As he started to torture Charlie, the other Castiel was back at camp with the Winchesters, using a similar technique on a spy who had set up Charlie and Ketch to be ambushed. That Castiel was successful, and the humans, with help from Jack and Castiel, were able to save Charlie and Ketch. And Castiel killed his Apocalypse World double.

Sam's plan was to bring the resistance fighters back to the Winchesters' world so they could use the lore and weapons there to find a way to return to Apocalypse World and defeat Michael. They brought back most of the rebels, although a few were killed. Gabriel stopped to fight Michael so the brothers could escape, though, and he was killed by Michael. And, Sam left an injured Lucifer with Michael, as well.

Sam gave the resistance fighters a crash course on his world. Bobby responded, saying, "Let me get this straight." He then listed the "icecaps are melting," the film "where a girl goes all the way with a fish" winning the Academy Award, and the "idiot from 'The Apprentice' is President." He then asked, "And you call where we come from Apocalypse World?" Sam laughingly acknowledged that he had made a "good point."

Dean told Sam that he thought they may be able to rid the world of monsters, with Jack on their side. Sam asked what they would do then, and Dean relayed his vision of retirement for the brothers and Castiel.

Jack confided in Dean about his nightmares and insecurities in "Let the Good Times Roll." Dean reassured him that everyone has them, and everyone makes mistakes and "every day we can get better." He then told him, "So whatever you do, whatever comes at us, we'll figure out a way to deal with it together. You are family, kid, and we look after our own."

Lucifer and Michael teamed up to open a rift and escape Apocalypse World. Lucifer then killed Maggie (causing Jack to feel guilty for not protecting her) and then attempted to gain Jack's trust. He told him that, "Even though the three amigos - Sam, Dean, and the other one - won't admit it, you need me, you do, because we're blood. And we're not human, no matter how much we pretend to be." He then brought Maggie back, temporarily earning the boy's trust - until Jack found out Lucifer was the one who killed her in the first place.

Lucifer slit Jack's throat and took his power. Sam tried to save Jack, and the three of them disappeared from the bunker. Michael told Dean and Cas that the Devil had won. Michael told Dean this was "the end of everything." Dean then asked, "What if you had your sword?" Long time viewers knew that Dean was the Michael Sword, and had refused to say yes to Michael in season 5.

Dean had made a deal with a Michael that he would be in charge and once Lucifer was defeated, Michael would leave his vessel. But, once they killed Lucifer, Michael broke the deal and disappeared in Dean's vessel. The episode ended with a shot of Castiel indicating to Mary that he still could not find her eldest son, and then a shot of Dean/Michael walking down the street.
