Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This Side of Paradise:

This planet was inhabited by colonists for about three years. It was believed that they had all died due to constant exposure to Berthold radiation, but mysterious spores prevented their deaths.
2. Bread and Circuses:

Answer: 892-IV

Planet 892-IV was so similar to Earth, the only difference was the shapes of the continental land masses! The inhabitants of this planet were very human-like and their society was a modern-day version of ancient Rome.
3. The Savage Curtain:

Answer: Excalbia

The surface of Excalbia was believed to be nothing but lava, until a small patch of Class-M atmosphere appeared, along with...President Abraham Lincoln?
4. The Empath:

Answer: Minara II

Minara II was a planet whose star was about to go nova. Kirk, Spock and McCoy went down to retrieve an expedition team, only to find them gone. Suddenly, they were subjected to cruel experiments by a race known as the Vians.
5. The Enemy Within:

Answer: Alpha 177

A landing party led by Sulu nearly froze to death on this planet, due to a transporter malfunction that had separated Kirk into two parts, "evil" and "good."
SIDE NOTE: When this early episode was filmed, shuttlecraft had not been developed yet!
6. The Galileo Seven

Answer: Taurus II

The shuttlecraft Galileo was stranded on this planet and Spock, who was in command of the craft, struggled with himself and the others on board in his attempts to come up with a means of escape.
7. Who Mourns for Adonais?:

Answer: Pollux IV

Pollux IV was the home of a humanoid who identified himself as the ancient Greek god Apollo.
8. The Apple:

Answer: Gamma Trianguli VI

This planet was inhabited by a primitive race of humanoids that had no concept of reproduction, love, or anything else of a sexual nature. This episode features David Soul (of "Starsky and Hutch" fame).
9. The Conscience of the King:

Answer: Benecia Colony

The Benecia Colony was the destination of the Karidian acting troupe when the Enterprise allowed them on board after their normal transport was conveniently delayed.
10. Wink Of an Eye:

Answer: Scalos

On this planet, Kirk was "accellerated" by its inhabitants, so that it appeared to him that everyone else was frozen in time.
11. Patterns of Force:

Answer: Ekos

The inhabitants of Ekos modeled their society after Nazi Germany, thanks to their leader, a Federation observer named John Gill. Professor Gill believed that if certain Nazi principles were applied benevolently, the society would truly prosper. Unfortunately, Deputy Führer Melakon had other plans and, using Gill as a puppet leader, declared war on the neighboring planet Zeon.
FAST FACT: The true irony about this episode is seeing Kirk and Spock dressed as Nazis, because both William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy are Jewish!
12. Let That Be Your Last Battlefield:

Answer: Cheron

Cheron was the home world of Lokai and Bele, two rivals who had been fighting each other for centuries. But when they finally reached their planet, they discovered that civil war had decimated the population. Their fight ended on Cheron; it is not known who was the victor.
FACT: Frank Gorshin (Bele) played the first Riddler on the "Batman" TV series in the 1960s.
13. A Piece Of the Action:

Answer: Sigma Iotia II

The Iotians were a highly-imitative people who had modeled their society after a book about 1920s gangsters. "The Book," as it became known, was left behind by a previous Starfleet ship prior to the enforcement of the Prime Directive.
FACT: This episode guest stars Vic Tayback, who went on to star in the movie "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore", and it's TV spinoff "Alice", as Mel (of Mel's Diner).
14. Wolf In the Fold:

Answer: Argelius II

The Argelians were a hedonistic race who had opened their planet as a shore leave facility. While visiting Argelius II, Scotty became the prime suspect for the murder of several people, including a member of the Enterprise crew and the Argelian Prefect's wife, Sybo.
15. The Deadly Years:

Answer: Gamma Hydra IV

Gamma Hydra IV was home to a Starfleet science team, each of whom were under 30 years of age, who mysteriously died of what appeared to be old age. The ailment was discovered to have been caused by radiation.
