Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the designation number for the Starship Enterprise, under the command of Chris Pike?

Answer: NCC 1701

NX-1 is the original Enterprise under the command of Jonathan Archer.
2. Why was Walter Koenig specifically brought on board to play Chekov?

Answer: Because he looked like David Jones

Walter Koenig's character was created to appeal to young teenage girls, because of his similar appearance to David Jones from 'the Monkees.' To confirm this answer, please check out 'Inside Star Trek The Real Story' by Solow and Justman Page 343. It is rumored that Roddenberry wanted a Russian on the bridge crew due to criticism the show received from Pravda (the official Soviet Newspaper.)
3. On 'This Side of Paradise,' what planet did this episode revolve around?

Answer: Omicron Ceti III

Psi MM was the planet in the 'Naked Time' - Talos IV was the planet in 'The Cage' (Pilot), later 'The Menagerie.'
4. Bones is diagnosed with a rare disease for which there is no cure. During the mission, he falls in love and decides to leave the Enterprise. Kirk and Spock find the cure and save McCoy: Name this episode.

Answer: For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky

The old man in the episode had the titular line, just before he died. He realizes that they aren't on a planet, but a spaceship or asteroid if you will.
5. Which bridge officer accuses Spock of being a possible spy for the Romulans in the Episode 'Balance of Terror'?

Answer: Lt. Stiles

Lt. Stiles lost several members of his family in a battle against the Romulans almost a century before the encounter depicted in this episode.
6. 'Space Seed' was continued in which feature film?

Answer: "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"

For those of you that chose "Star Trek II", This is quite incorrect as the working title of the film was "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan" without the II

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_II

For those of you that chose "Star Trek II: The Undiscovered Country", this was a working title, but the subtitle was actually used for the 6th film in the series.

Many fans started to call the movie Chekov Screams Again because of the scene where Khan put the eels in his and Capt. Terrell's ears. Chekov screamed in Star Trek: The Motion Picture when his hand got in the way of V'gers probe as it scanned his console.

7. In 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture,' what is the entity that is trying to contact Earth?

Answer: V'Ger

V'Ger was actually Voyager 6, which was launched from Earth in the 1970's.
8. In the episode 'Whom Gods Destroy' - What is the response to the 2 part security code that the landing party (Away Team for all you TNGers) must give to request beam up?

Answer: 'Queen to King's Level 1'

'Queen to Queen's Level 3' is the password given by Scotty. Now...does anyone have the rules to 3D Chess?
9. In what movie is the fight scene in 'Amok Time' semi recreated?

Answer: 'Cable Guy'

Jim Carrey's character was singing the incidental music while he and Matt Broderick were fighting in the arena at Medieval Times, a medieval period based dinner theatre. Matt and Jim recreated some of the same choreography as well.
10. Complete the phrase: '______________ ____ ____ ________, yea brother!'

Answer: 'Steppin' in to Eden'

Adam sings this with vigor with the other space hippies at 41:10 into the episode...right after the crew is knocked out by the ultrasonic weapon. At 37:57 Adam Sings Headin' Out to Eden, before Kirk tried to enter auxiliary control. Headin' Out To Eden was not a provided choice to avoid confusion with Steppin' In To Eden.

'We reach!' Spock jams with the Space Hippies on the Vulcan Harp. Live long and prosper. (Vulcan salute)
