Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Though he loves logic And abhors his emotions, Why is his blood green?

Answer: Spock

Mr. Spock is a native of the planet Vulcan and the son of a Vulcan father and a human mother. He was played by Leonard Nimoy in every episode of "Star Trek" including the first pilot, "The Cage". Vulcans, as a species, emphasize logic and downplay their emotions. In the series, Vulcans are said to have green blood due to it containing copper.
2. While I hail that ship And I have a kingly fan, Why wear a short skirt?

Answer: Uhura

Lt. Uhura was the ship's communications officer and was often seen at her post opening contact with other ships, both friendly and hostile. She was portrayed by Nichelle Nichols, who has described wanting to leave the show but being encouraged to stay when Martin Luther King, Jr., told her that "Star Trek" was one of the few television shows that he and his wife allowed their children to watch. Lt. Uhura, like the other female crew members on the Enterprise wore a one piece uniform that ended in a short skirt, perhaps reflecting in part fashions of the 1960s (even though the show was set in the 23rd century).
3. Why can't you accept I'm a doctor, not a blank, When I'm in Sickbay?

Answer: McCoy

Dr. McCoy, or "Bones", appeared in 78 of the episodes of the original series, only omitting the two pilots. The character was portrayed by DeForest Kelley. McCoy was known for several variations of the line "I'm a doctor, not a _____". My personal favorite is when he needs to heal the Horta and says, "I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer".

Many of McCoy's scenes would take place in sickbay.
4. Though I'm Russian and Look like Davy Jones, why do I want the "wess-els"?

Answer: Chekov

Ensign Chekov did not appear until the second season of the original series and appeared in only about half of the episodes. The character was of Russian descent and was played by Walter Koenig. Chekov was added to the cast to have a younger cast member that would be popular among younger viewers like one of the Monkees or Beatles.

In "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home", Chekov asks several people where is the naval base that has the "nuclear wessels".
5. I made up "Fizzbin" And married Miramanee. So...why...speak...like...this?

Answer: Kirk

Captain Kirk was portrayed by William Shatner. In the mobster-themed episode, "A Piece of the Action", he and Spock were able to escape their captors when Kirk confused them with a made-up card game called "Fizzbin". In the episode "The Paradise Syndrome", Kirk, while suffering memory loss, marries a woman named Miramanee, who dies at the end of the episode. Over the years, William Shatner has a reputation for sometimes delivering his lines in an over-dramatic fashion complete with plenty of pauses even within sentences.
6. Is she the nurse who Sounds like the ship's computer And loves a Vulcan?

Answer: Chapel

Nurse Chapel was portrayed by Majel Barrett, who would become the wife of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry. In the first pilot, "The Cage", she portrayed Number One, Captain Pike's first officer on the Enterprise. In the series proper, she played Nurse Chapel who assisted Dr. McCoy in Sickbay.

She was often shown to care deeply for Mr. Spock in a way that he did not or could not reciprocate. Majel Barrett also provided the speaking voice for the Enterprise in the original series and several other shows.
7. Once a physicist, Then a swashbuckling fellow, Do I steer the ship?

Answer: Sulu

Lt. Sulu was portrayed by George Takei. In the second pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before", his character was a physicist, although in most other appearances he was the helmsman of the Enterprise. He occasionally described an interest in ancient weapons and once, while under the influence of an alcohol-like disease, wielded a fencing sword in the corridors of the ship.
8. Why--if I annoy Charlie And really like the Captain-- Am I a Yeoman?

Answer: Rand

Yeoman Rand was portrayed by Grace Lee Whitney. She appeared in a handful of episodes, mostly in the first season, although she made appearances in several of the movies. She served essentially as Captain Kirk's secretary although it was strongly suggested that she would rather be more to him than that.

In the episode "Charlie X", the teen-aged Charlie X has a crush on Yeoman Rand that turns sour when she does not reciprocate his interest.
9. Oh, why can't I change The doggone laws of physics If I love the ship?

Answer: Scott

Lt. Commander Scott or "Scotty" was portrayed by James Doohan. He is the chief engineer of the Enterprise and the third in command. Scotty was known for describing limitations of what he or the ship could do by saying "You cannot change the laws of physics" before seemingly accomplishing the goal anyway. Appearing in several movies, Scotty also appeared in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Relics".
10. Why-can you tell me-- If I was in many episodes Was I seldom named?

Answer: Leslie

Lt. Leslie was played by Eddie Paskey. According to IMDb, the Lt. Leslie character appeared in more episodes than Sulu, Chekov, or Nurse Chapel, if without as many lines. On a few occasions, he was left in command of the Enterprise when Kirk, Spock, and Scotty were all on an away mission. At different times he worked in Security, Engineering, and Sickbay.
