Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the first half of Leg 7 (in Czech Republic), teams needed to get a goal in which sport?

Answer: Ice hockey

Early in the morning, teams commenced Leg 7 in front of Prague Castle in the Czech capital. From here, teams needed to make their way through the city to find the Dancing House. Once here, teams needed to look around the riverside for their vehicles for this leg, a series of old Czech sedans, some in lesser states of repair than others. Opening their clues inside, teams were told to head to the Zimni Ice Hockey Rink where they had to wear jerseys, skates, and gear before scoring a single goal on a local goalie.
2. Which team photographed the correct man from the cathedral tower in the first half of Leg 7 (in Prague)?

Answer: Dave and Kelly

After their ice hockey task, teams needed to drive themselves to St. Nicholas Cathedral Tower in Prague and ascend to the top of the building (which was once used as a spy post). At the top they had thirty seconds to locate and snap a picture of a man waving a race flag using a provided camera. If they were able to do this, they would receive their clue. If they took a picture of the wrong man or ran out of time they would need to return to the bottom of the tower and count all three hundred and four stairs to receive their next clue. Sam and Renae and Dave and Kelly were the only ones to pass the challenge.
3. In the Detour task in the Czech brewery in Leg 7 (the first half) all six teams completed which task?

Answer: 'Stack Up'

For the Detour in this half of the leg, teams needed to head to a Pilsner Brewery outside Prague to choose either 'Stack Up' or 'Stack In'. In 'Stack Up', teams needed to head into the product lines of the factory to stack two pallets-worth of boxes of beer, forty-five boxes each. All six teams completed this task.

In 'Stack In', teams would've needed to go to the brewery's restaurant to eat a combined total of eighteen Czech sausages made with pig heads, tongues, hearts, and livers. None of the teams could stomach this one.
4. During the Road Block in the first half of Leg 7 (in Czech Republic), team members abseiled in which of these structures?

Answer: Church

After completing the Detour teams were instructed to drive themselves to the town of Kutna Hora to find the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady and Saint John the Baptist. Here, one member of each team needed to complete a Road Block asking them to 'scale the heavenly heights'. For this task, the selected members needed to climb to the top floor of the church, harness themselves in, and abseil down to the sounds of a heavenly chorus below. Anastasia, Nathan, and Luke were the only ones confirmed to have completed the task.
5. Which team was first to arrive at the mid-way point of Leg 7 at the Bone Church in the Czech Republic?

Answer: Chris and Anastasia

After the Road Block, teams needed to make their way on foot to Grant and the mat located in the Church of Bones in the town of Kutna Hora. This structure containing over seven thousand human skeletons was not told to be a Pit Stop and when teams arrived they were presented with another clue and were told to keep going on the second half of Leg 7. Chris and Anastasia were the first team to arrive on the mat.

Despite this they were not given a prize for their victory.
6. In the second half of Leg 7, teams took a train to which country?

Answer: Poland

Continuing on from the Bone Church Pit Stop, teams were told to head to the nearby train station to secure tickets on a ride to Krakow, Poland departing from Kutna Hora. This lengthy ride forced teams to arrive in the early morning hours. En route, Nathan and Tyler's race pouch went missing only to be found in the next car.

While their passports were still present, their money was gone. Upon arrival in Krakow, teams needed to find their next clues in the car awaiting them.
7. In the second half of Leg 7, teams visited a salt mine for the Road Block. What did team members need to dig for?

Answer: Keys

Upon arriving in Krakow, teams received a Road Block asking 'when push comes to shove-- who digs adventure?' Heading to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, both members suited up in miner outfits and descended into a shaft. Here, the participating member needed to push a mine cart down a tunnel then search inside it for a crystal key needed to open a stone case.

The cart would contain many keys though only one would work. Luke, Nathan, Renae, Chris, Dave, and Matt completed this task. After this, teams obtained a Detour.
8. All six remaining teams completed which Detour task from the second half of Leg 7?

Answer: 'Herd'

In the Detour for this half of the leg, teams needed to drive into the Polish countryside and choose either 'Herd' or 'Hoe Down'. The former task, completed by all six teams, involved heading to a sheep field and herding three particular sheep into their own enclosure.

In 'Hoe Down', teams would've needed to dress in highland costumes and learn a traditional Polish axe dance. Once properly executed, teams would've received their next clue. After the Detour teams were told to drive to Cape Stylchen.
9. Which of the following Intersection pairings from the second half of Leg 7 is incorrect?

Answer: None of these are incorrect

At Cape Stylchen, teams found the second Intersection of the race. For this task, two teams needed to band together to use a tandem saw to cut slices of wood off a thick piece of timber. Each two person team to cut the log needed to switch out after their sawing to form a new combination.

After four slices were cut, teams could receive their next clue and they were no longer Intersected. Because of the difficulty of the task, two teams were forced to forfeit and head to the Pit Stop with extensive time penalties.
10. Which team was eliminated from the race at the end of Leg 7?

Answer: Chris and Anastasia

After the Intersection task, teams were told to drive to their next Pit Stop at Dunajec Castle, the first team to hit the mat was Jeff and Luke who placed first for the first time. They won a $10,000 prized from NAB. Sam and Renae, who took a two hour penalty for sawing only one piece of wood during the Intersection, landed on the mat in third while Chris and Anastasia, coming off a first place finish in the Czech Republic, waited out a four hour penalty for not finishing the timber task.

They became the sixth team eliminated from the race.
