The Eleventh Doctor (All Three Series) Part One Quiz

Although I grew up in the eighties I believe Matt Smith is MY Doctor. Even after the series was resurrected I didn't really enjoy it until he became the Doctor. This is a small nod to the time he has spent in the role.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Eleventh Doctor makes his debut in the episode "The Eleventh Hour".

Answer: False

Matt Smith (who plays the Eleventh Doctor) actually appears first at the end of the series 4 episode "The End of Time" when the Tenth Doctor regenerates.
2. The first full episode to feature the Eleventh begins with the Doctor attempting to complete his regeneration and to deal with a malfunctioning TARDIS. He crash lands in a garden and climbs out of the TARDIS meeting a surprisingly unsurprised little girl. What is the name of the little girl?

Answer: Amelia Pond

At the beginning of the scene we see her praying to Santa for a policeman when she hears the noise of the TARDIS landing. The TARDIS looks like a police box.
3. In "The Beast Below" Amy Pond and the Doctor land on a starship. There are odd things happening on board, or rather down below. What creature assists the UK in their evacuation from Earth?

Answer: Star Whale

The sun began to burn so brightly that humans couldn't stand it, the Earth is abandoned but the UK (except Scotland) struggles to escape. A Star Whale comes to the rescue after hearing the children crying. However, the motive isn't suspected by the government who captures the Whale and tortures it to keep them moving through space.
The Doctor struggles to resolve the problem but Amy saves the day by releasing the Star Whale from its bonds. The Star Whale which has the best interests of the children at heart continues to pull the ship without being forced to.
4. In "Victory of the Daleks" the Doctor receives a summons from a British Prime Minister. Which one?

Answer: Winston Churchill

Ian McNeice plays Winston Churchill (not for the last time). This is Amy's first experience with Daleks and she doesn't understand why the Doctor hates them so much.
5. Which previously introduced character makes an impressive entrance in the episode "The Time of Angels"?

Answer: River Song

River Song boards a ship and breaks into the chamber holding the Homing Box (similar to a black box except in homes). She etches co-ordinates in Old High Gallifreyan into it.
12,000 years in the future the Doctor visits a museum and notices them. He programmes the co-ordinates into the TARDIS and they catch River Song flying out of the ship she has just escaped.
6. In the episode "Flesh and Stone" the Angel which crashed in the ship takes over one of the clerics. What is his name?

Answer: Bob

Angel Bob (as he is named by the Doctor) threatens the Doctor which is usually not a good idea. Bob is a cleric who is scared of meeting the Angels so is left behind to guard. Unfortunately he is caught by the Angels and his voice is used to communicate with the Doctor and the team.
7. In the episode "Vampires of Venice" the first scene shows a girl being admitted to a school. What is the name of the mistress of the school?

Answer: Rosanna

Rosanna Calvierri is an alien. She along with her family escaped from her home planet and ended up in 1580s Venice.
Rory Williams is reintroduced in this episode (in a fairly hilarious stag party scene where the Doctor emerges from a cake). Venice is the Doctor's idea of a romantic getaway for Rory and Amy.
8. The episode "Amy's Choice" opens with Amy and Rory living in a small village. What is the name of the village?

Answer: Leadworth

The Dream Lord in the episode forces the Doctor and his companions to decide what is reality, stuck on a freezing TARDIS or five years in the future. In the future Rory and Amy are expecting a baby.
9. In the episode "The Hungry Earth" it opens with a story being read to a little boy. What is the name of the story?

Answer: The Gruffalo

The episode features the Silurians, a race of reptilian humanoids, who after being woken decide to take back the Earth that had been theirs.
10. "Cold Blood" is the second parter to "The Hungry Earth". While not my favourite episode, it raises some ethical questions in part due to the killing of a hostage. What is the name of the murdered hostage?

Answer: Alaya

The Silurians had been buried under the Earth for a very long time. When they are awakened they seek to take back part of the surface of the Earth for themselves. It looked like they might be able to reach a happy compromise however this was not to be.
This episode also continues the season's theme of "a crack in the wall" and features Rory Williams' first death.
