Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Scavengers appear in only three episodes of "The Walking Dead."

Answer: false

The Scavengers were originally slated to appear in only three episodes, but they ended up appearing in a total of ten episodes in Seasons 7 and 8. The last appearance of the Scavengers occurs in season 8, episode 14 during a flashback. It can be surmised that the group had at one time as many as 120 people based on the number of guns they suggested they needed to supply everyone.
2. When does a member of the Scavengers first spy Rick?

Answer: When Rick and Aaron are salvaging supplies from a houseboat

In season 7, episode 8, "Hearts Still Beating," a Scavenger follows Aaron and Rick back to Alexandria after they recover supplies from a houseboat situated in walker-infested waters.

In season 7, episode 16, "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life," Maggie refers to this group as "those Scavengers." The Scavengers live in a junkyard piled with old debris and have a dirty appearance. The junkyard is located in Virginia and is known as "the Heaps."
3. The leader of the Scavengers goes by the name of Jadis. What is her real name?

Answer: Anne

The actress who played Jadis, Pollyanna McIntosh, has said the Scavengers are also called "the Heapsters." This group is not the same as the Scavengers group in the comic book series, however, which raids and plunders other groups rather than staying hidden away. Arat was a Savior, and Lori and Carol were members of Rick's group.
4. The Scavengers trade with a mysterious community that has helicopters. What do they trade in exchange for supplies?

Answer: People

Jadis refers to the people they trade as As and Bs when communicating with the mysterious group by walkie talkie. It is implied the Scavengers may have traded Heath, the Alexandria supply runner who became separated from Tara on a supply run. Jadis contemplates trading Father Gabriel.

After Rick is injured, Jadis calls the mysterious group to recover him, saying he's a "B," and they swoop down with a helicopter. He may have been considered a "B" because of his injury, as he was previously held in the junkyard in a container marked "A." Furthermore, the helicopter that arrived to pick him up had a letter "A" painted on the door.
5. The Scavengers betray Alexandria to side with which group?

Answer: The Saviors

While the Scavengers agree to fight for Alexandria in exchange for guns, they secretly inform Negan of Rick's plans and turn on the Alexandrians in the heat of battle. In return, Negan offered her twelve survivors, which it is implied she traded to another community for supplies.
6. Which of the following was never a member of the Scavengers?

Answer: Beta

Beta is a member of The Whisperers. Tamiel is the one who follows Aaron and Rick back to Alexandria after they recover supplies from the houseboat. Brion first appears in season 7, episode 10, "New Best Friends." Farron appears in season 7, episode 16, "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life," where she tells Michonne, "We win" when the Scavengers betray Alexandria by siding with Negan and turning on the people they were supposed to support.
7. Who do the Scavengers make fight a walker pierced with spikes for their own entertainment?

Answer: Rick

The walker is a former member of the Scavengers named Winslow. In season 7, episode 10, "New Best Friends," Rick and some other members of his group are apprehended and taken back to the junkyard. After Rick fights off the walker, he strikes a deal with the group to aid them in their fight against the Saviors.
8. How do the Scavengers speak?

Answer: In succinct, broken English

The Scavengers have their own culture and unique manner of speaking. They communicate with one another in a succinct, broken English, frequently using incomplete sentences. It's unclear whether this is a show for others or if this is how they speak to one another all the time, but when Anne (Jadis) is no longer with the Scavengers, she speaks normally.
9. How are all but one of the Scavengers destroyed?

Answer: Simon orders them to be gunned down

In season 8, episode 10, "The Lost and the Plunderers," Simon and some Saviors go to the junkyard and insists that if the Scavengers hand over their weapons, they can make amends with the Saviors. But once they are disarmed, Simon orders them all gunned down.

In a flashback in Season 8, episode 14, "Still Gotta Mean Something," audiences see Jadis playing dead while the Saviors slaughter all of her people under Simon's command. Negan later strangles Simon to death for going against his orders and committing that brutality.
10. Who lives alone in the Scavenger's abandoned junkyard for awhile before eventually leaving Virginia, leaving the show, and joining the companion series "Fear the Walking Dead"?

Answer: Morgan

Morgan, who was introduced in the very first episode of season one of "The Walking Dead," decides to spend some time living alone in the junkyard. In some flashback scenes in the companion series "Fear the Walking Dead," Jesus, Carol, and Rick all visit him in the junkyard and try to talk him into rejoining one of their communities.
