In episode 2, Doctor Song Won-kyung, the elder sister of Doctor Song Ji-an, says (in a flashback) that a dark spot on the surface of the moon, visible from where they are sitting together on Earth, is "the silent sea." The spot to which the deceased elder sister refers in the Sea of Tranquility.

Answer: the promise of healing his sick daughter

Han Yun-Jae, played by Gong Yoo, is a career soldier in the Korean Space Agency. His daughter suffers from a disease which will cause her to lose her legs if she does not have a higher allocation of water. The Space Agency promises him such a ration if he successfully completes this mission.

Answer: her sister was killed on the first mission

Song Ji-an, played by Bae Doona, an astrobiologist. Her sister, Song Won-kyung, died in an "accident" five years previously on the moon. The official explanation of a "radiation leak" does not satisfy the facts and turns out to be false.

Answer: Balhae Station

Balhae Station was first built as a research facility by the Republic of Korea government. Its mission was scientific. The name Balhae relates to the Balhae Kingdom, a 7-10th century kingdom which comprised Manchuria, Korean and part of Russia. Balhae appears in the 2006 Korean television series "Shadowless Sword" which is set in that period.

Luna 073, played by Kim Si-a, was the 73rd clone created by the scientists on the moon base; all the others died. Luna 073 was not only immune to the lunar water but thrived on it. It gave her great strength and healing powers. The research records, hidden in Song Won-kyung's room, reveal that the genetically-modified clones were created in an attempt to use lunar water.

Answer: green growing plants

Lunar water had the property of rapidly multiplying when it contacted any living form. When some was spilled on growing plants, they grew vigorously and filled whole compartments of the moon base.

Answer: he was a spy and double agent

Lieutenant Ryu Tae-seok, played by Lee Joon, was a spy. He was the head engineer with an impressive record with the Ministry of National Defense. He apparently sold out to corporate interests who wished to exploit lunar water for profit. Thus, in episode 6, he steals the sample capsules, kills a crew member, and plans for kill the rest. Ryu ends up exposed to the lunar water, which is a poetic end for him.

Answer: she remained on the lunar surface

In episode 8, the survivors (Song and Hong) discovered that Luna 073 could exist on the lunar surface without oxygen or a space suit. Faced with the prospect of being essentially a laboratory animal for the rest of her life, Luna 073 remained on the moon while Song and Hong were taken into the rescue ship.
