Shane berates Andrea for letting her emotions affect her aim. When he tries to provoke her by mentioning Amy she storms off.

Answer: Rick is not meant for the world as it is

Shane tells Lori he was upset because Rick was not meant for the post-apocalyptic world and Shane would have to watch his best friend die again. Shane goes on to tell Lori that he saved her life four times whereas Rick has not managed to do so even once.

Answer: "I don't think you can keep them safe."

After learning that Randall knows where the farm is and could possibly lead members of his group there, Rick decides not to kill Randall and to bring him back to the farm until he can decide what to do. Shane objects to keeping a dangerous man where Lori and Carl sleep.

Answer: Women never turn off lights

Leading up to a conversation about difficulties in his marriage, Rick asks his best friend what the difference is between men and women. "Reverend" Shane tries to cheer Rick up by launching into a sermon about how no woman he's ever given a house key has turned off the lights.

He speculates that global warming might not be a problem if women would learn that the light switch goes both ways.

Answer: Lori admitted that she was an active participant in their affair and that the baby might be Shane's

Shane seemed to have accepted Rick's condition that he forget about Lori until Lori admitted to Shane that she also had feelings for him and that the baby might be his. Jon Bernthal has speculated that Shane was somewhat suicidal and simply wanted to end his life. In letting Rick do it, he led Rick to become the man Shane believed he needed to be in order to protect his family.

Answer: He's a danger to the group because he drew down on Rick when his back was turned

"You had him in your sights and you held him there," Dale tells Shane of the scene he witnessed when Shane briefly considered shooting Rick at the original camp.

"That's the man I love, I love him like he's my brother. What do you think I'd do to a man I don't even like when he starts throwing accusations my way?" Shane taunts before walking away.

When he realized that they will not both make it out of the school and that he has the best chance to return with the medical equipment to save Carl, Shane apologizes and shoots Otis, leaving him as a distraction for the Walkers. Otis manages to grab Shane's hair. Later, Shane shaves his head when he finds a small bald spot that could lead to questions from the group.

Teenaged Shane stole the school guidance counsellor's car, drove it to a chicken farm, spread chicken feed on the seats, and opened the windows. He then ran all the way back to school and was back in time to finish his lunch before the bell rang. Rick tells Lori this oft-repeated tale while they wait for him to return with the medical equipment to save Carl's life, as proof of Shane's determination and athleticism.

In "Chupacabra" Rick coaxes Shane to open up by getting him to brag about girls he slept with in high school. Shane reckons that he's a prodigy. "Is prodigy what you call a young high school stud bangs thirty-year-olds on the regular?" he teases. This also marks the final exchange the two share as best friends.
