"The Walking Dead" S1E02: "Guts" Quiz

Glenn advises Rick through the radio to get out of the tank and make a run for an alley. Rick uses his remaining bullets to keep the walkers at bay and is ushered into an alley by Glenn (Steven Yeun). The two climb up a ladder on the side of a building and escape the walkers, but Glenn is not happy that Rick fired the shots and attracted more walkers. Noticing Rick's Sheriff's uniform, he says "nice moves there, Clint Eastwood". Rick apologises and thanks Glenn for his help, the two exchange names and so starts one of the strongest friendships in "The Walking Dead".

Though 'walkers' is the term used most frequently throughout the show, Glenn and his friends do refer to them a few times as 'geeks', in reference to the walkers' lack of intelligence. Despite the pejorative name, the group appears to be quite frightened of the walkers.

Rick's earlier gunshots attracted a large number of walkers around the building where the group is hiding, making escape all but impossible. Andrea, played by Laurie Holden, is angry at Rick and aims a gun at him as soon as they meet, but the others manage to calm her down.

For reasons known only to him, Merle (Michael Rooker) decides to start shooting walkers from the rooftop. Some civilians didn't realise that a crew was filming and thought that Rooker was an actual sniper, which caused S.W.A.T. to be called in. Back in the TV show though, when the group rushes to stop Merle, he beats T-Dog, who is black, and uses some racial slur. Rick catches him unaware and handcuffs him.

After introducing himself as Officer Friendly, he reminds Merle that there is "only white meat and dark meat", since walkers are equally fast to attack anyone. Ah, words to live by when the zombie apocalypse strikes.

In his previous excursions to Atlanta for supplies, Glenn has always gone alone and returned with no trouble. That's why when Andrea and Rick offer to go with him to scout the sewers, Glenn rejects their offer because they will complicate things. Instead he asks them to be on guard against the walkers. Glenn only takes Morales with him, but soon they run into a dead-end with a walker beyond and they forced to turn back.

Answer: Mermaid

Andrea notices the necklace and mentions that her younger sister Amy is into dragons and unicorns, but mostly loves mermaids. She is unsure whether to take the necklace because it would be looting, but Rick comments that those rules don't apply anymore and Andrea pockets the necklace.

The walkers, who have been waiting patiently for the two to finish their conversation, finally break through the first set of doors and are one more set away from entering the building.

Just because he's a good leader, it doesn't mean Rick is good at comforting others. In one of the most gory scenes ever in "The Walking Dead", the group are smearing Rick and Glenn with what used to be a walker, so the pair of them can cross the crowd of walkers undetected. Everyone is visibly disturbed, so Rick tells them to think of puppies and kittens.

His attempt does not have the desired effect however, as Glenn proceeds to vomit and Andrea summarises everyone's feelings by asking Rick "What is wrong with you?"

Amy (Emma Bell) is distraught when she hears that Andrea and the others are unable to return. She wants to send more people after them, but Shane, who has established himself as the leader of the camp, refuses to risk any more people. His attempt to make Amy see the practical side fails, and just like Lori in the previous episode, Amy storms off the camp after confronting Shane, who goes two for two at making women run away from him.

Answer: T-Dog drops the key down a drain.

When Rick and Glenn finally return, the group rush down the stairs to reach the ground floor. Merle yells, asking not to be left behind. T-Dog (IronE Singleton), who was given the key from Rick, returns to free Merle. As he is running, he stumbles and the key flies off his hand and into a drain. T-Dog is forced to retreat, but before leaving he puts a padlock on the roof door to prevent walkers from getting there.

While the others get in the van, which is being driven by Rick, Glenn drives a Dodge Challenger and uses the car alarm to draw the walkers away. As the rest of the group settle in the van with a mixture of relief and weariness, Glenn is seen speeding away in the Challenger with gleeful exclamations.
