Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "The Walking Dead" season 11, episode 11 was directed by Michael Cudlitz. Cudlitz formerly played what "Walking Dead" character, who met his fate at Negan's hands?

Answer: Abraham

Michael Cudlitz played Abraham Ford in thirty episodes of "The Walking Dead" beginning in season four. He also directed four episodes of the show between season 9 and season 11, episode 11. In addition, Cudlitz directed two episodes of "The Walking Dead: World Beyond" in 2020. The character of Abraham was beaten to death by Negan using his baseball bat, Lucille.
2. In "Rogue Element" (11.11), Lance Hornsby takes Carol to some fields outside of the Commonwealth. What is being grown and produced there?

Answer: Opium

Season 11, episode 11, "Rouge Element," aired on March 6, 2022. It was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Hornsby takes Carol to the opium fields, which are used to supply the hospital. Carol resolves a strike by deducing that the foreman is abusing the workers and by talking to one of the female workers. She reports her intel to Hornsby.
3. Eugene finally meets the woman he was actually talking to on the radio--Max. What powerful Commonwealth man is Max's brother?

Answer: General Mercer

"Stephanie" turns out to be a plant named Shira who has been using Eugene to obtain information about Alexandria. The woman he was actually talking to on the radio is Max, who had been using the name "Stephanie," which was her mother's name, as a codename. Max is the sister of General Mercer, who heads the Commonwealth's army. Because talking with Eugene was a breach in protocol, Mercer covered up her communication when he discovered it.
4. In "The Lucky Ones" (11.12), because the Hilltop is faltering, Maggie reluctantly accepts aid from the Commonwealth.

Answer: false

Maggie is suspicious of the Commonwealth and refuses to accept their aid. Alexandria has accepted the aid and is being rebuilt as a consequence. Some at the Hilltop disagree with Maggie's decision and go off to join the Commonwealth. Governor Milton is frustrated by Maggie's refusal.
5. Aaron and Gabriel are recruited by Toby Carlson to reach out to a camp discovered living in a foreboding apartment complex. Their mission, Toby says, is to make peace and offer them membership in the Commonwealth. What was Toby Carlson's job in the old world?

Answer: C.I.A. operative

This occurs in episode 13, "Warlords." Toby Carlson was a former CIA operative who apparently did some dirty things in the old world. He's glad to be out of the profession, but Lance Hornsby sucks him back in, because he believes this camp has stolen Commonwealth weapons.

When Carlson goes undercover to pretend to offer membership to the camp, the beast is unleashed, and he ends up torturing them for information.
6. When Father Gabriel accompanies Toby Carlson to negotiate with the cult leader, Ian, who is he surprised to find living in the camp?

Answer: Negan

Negan left the group in an earlier episode, and during the time jump he ended up settling in this apartment complex camp, which is somewhat of a religious cult. He even got married to a woman while there, and the couple is expecting a child. Negan manages to send a message with a fleeing member of the camp to recruit the Hilltop to help defeat Carlson, who begins shooting and torturing people for information.
7. How does Sebastian Milton persuade Daryl and Rosita to attempt to collect cash from a walker-infested house for him?

Answer: He threatens their children

This occurs in season 11, episode 14, "The Rotten Core." The Commonwealth uses American dollars as currency, but the money supply is strictly controlled. Sebastian has had his allowance cut off by his mother, the governor, and wants to get at a safe full of money in a walker-infested house.

He's been sending in people from the Commonwealth Army who have died trying to get it for him. He threatens Rosita and Daryl's children to get them to go in. Rosita's child is Coco, and Daryl's are Judith and RJ, for whom he has served as guardian in Michonne and Rick's absence.
8. When Rosita and Daryl become trapped in a walker-infested house while trying to recover money, Carol and Mercer rescue them. Why does Carol go looking for Daryl in the first place?

Answer: He didn't show up for their lunch date

When Daryl doesn't show up for his lunch date with Carol, she gets concerned and goes straight to General Mercer to help her find him. She assumes he must be in some kind of trouble. Mercer and Carol show up and rescue Rosita and Daryl form the house. Mercer then shoots two soldiers who were loyal to Sebastian, but insists Daryl and Rosita deliver the money from the safe anyway, for fear of repercussions from Sebastian.
9. Who pulls a gun on Negan and forces him to confess to Glenn's murder in "The Rotten Core" (11.14)?

Answer: Hershel

"The Rotten Core" aired March 27, 2022 and was directed by Marcus Stokes. The script was written by Erik Mountain and Jim Barnes. Hershel has been told his father Glenn was killed by a bad man, and, putting two and two together, realizes that man was Negan.

He is rescued by Negan after stowing away on Maggie's truck, but then pulls a gun on him and forces his confession. He almost kills Negan, but eventually lowers his handgun after being talked down.
10. At the end of "The Rotten Core" (11.14), who is revealed to have raided the Commonwealth's caravan and stolen their weapons?

Answer: Leah

Daryl's former girlfriend, Leah, whom he encountered living in a remote cabin years ago, later joined the Reapers and warred against Daryl's people. After Maggie and Daryl defeated the Reapers, Daryl let Leah go. At the end of this episode, it is revealed she was the one who, on her own, raided the caravan and stole all the weapons. Hornsby seeks to recruit her when he finds out.
