Michonne first appears in season 2, episode 13, when Andrea is rescued from pursuing walkers by a mysterious, hooded figure. The character became a series regular in season 3, but the actress who plays Michonne, Danai Gurira, announced the tenth season would be her last.

Michonne exited the show after discovering evidence that Rick Grimes might still be alive. The character set off in search of her presumed-dead husband, leaving the door open for a possible future return or spin-off television movie.

"Someone asked me if I was disappointed that I didn't get to be a walker," Danai told "The Hollywood Reporter." Her response? "I don't think so."

Answer: A Soviet Union satellite crashes to the earth, starting a fire

The tenth season of "The Walking Dead" premiered on AMC in the United States on October 6, 2019. Postproduction on the season finale was delayed by the outbreak of COVID-19, so the penultimate episode 15 served as a temporary season ender when it aired on April 5, 2020.

When season 10 opens on a training day at Oceanside, some time has passed and the communities have been at peace. They've been avoiding crossing Alpha's borders so as not to incite a war. But when a Whisperer mask washes up on shore, to be discovered by Judith, fear that the Whisperers have returned whips through the communities. Then a Soviet Union satellite crashes to the earth, starting a fire near Oceanside. Members of the alliance must cross Alpha's borders to fight the fire.

In episode 2, "We Are the End of the World," Beta discovers the shrine Alpha dedicated to Lydia, and Alpha reveals she didn't kill her daughter. She then destroys the shrine, indicating that Lydia is metaphorically dead to her.

In episode 3, "Ghosts," Negan saves Aaron from walkers when the hogweed they are covered in makes it difficult to see.

In episode 4, "Silence the Whisperers," Michonne interrupts Ezekiel as he is contemplating suicide. The two end up sharing a kiss and then talking, which gives Ezekiel a renewed sense of hope and purpose.

Answer: Gamma

A Whisperer was forced to abandon her crying child in season 9, and she harbors resentment against Alpha for that. Eventually, she attacks Alpha. The woman's sister proves her loyalty by pushing the grieving mother into a group of walkers to save Alpha.

Alpha rewards the sister-killer for her loyalty by anointing her third in command - Gamma. Gamma, whose real name we later learn is Mary, is played by Thora Birch and first appears in season 10, episode 2, "We Are the End of the World." Gamma is the third letter of the Greek alphabet, after Alpha and Beta.

Answer: Carol

In episode 3, "Ghosts," Gamma comes to Alexandria to tell them to meet Alpha at the border. Alpha insists she will take more land as a punishment for the group crossing into her territory to fight the forest fire after the satellite landed. Carol brings a gun to the meeting, and when Alpha taunts her regarding her son Henry's death, Carol attempts to kill Alpha, but Michonne knocks the gun out of her hand, afraid her actions will ignite a war they may not win.

Answer: Negan

Resentment against the Whisperers breeds, and some in the community take their anger out on Lydia, because she used to be one. In episode 4, "Silence the Whisperers," a group of Alexandrians attack her. Negan comes to her rescue and accidentally kills one of them in the process.

This results in calls for Negan's execution. But before the Council can decide his fate, Negan escapes because someone lets him out.

Answer: "Took you long enough."

In episode 12, "Walk with Us," Alpha thinks Negan is leading her to a shack where her daughter Lydia has been captured and bound, but when she opens the door, the shack is empty. She turns around and Negan slashes her throat. When he later delivers her head to Carol by throwing it at her feet, Carol replies, "Took you long enough."

In episode 14, the audience learns through a flashback that it was Carol who freed Negan from his cell under the condition that he infiltrate the Whisperers and kill Alpha.

Answer: Attacks Lydia with a two-by-four from behind

Brandon grew up in Alexandria after his parents, former Saviors, were killed. He harbored resentment against Rick for their deaths and admired Negan, who he was sometimes put in charge of watching while Negan worked. Brandon catches up with Negan after he escapes and loyally follows him. He tries to mimic the Saviors' whistling as he follows Negan.

While Negan is fighting off walkers, Brandon makes him a wire-wrapped bat that resembles Lucille. When they meet up with a mother and her daughter, Brandon suggests robbing them, but Negan insists Brandon return to Alexandria. Negan then develops a fondness for mother and son, but Brandon believes Negan is testing him. Believing it will impress Negan, Brandon murders them. Negan then kills Brandon.

Answer: Thyroid cancer

In episode 5, "What It Always Is," Ezekiel reveals his condition to Siddiq. Ezekiel says his father and grandfather both also had thyroid cancer and were able to survive it thanks to modern medical technology, but he doesn't hope to be able to. Ezekiel is initially unable to bring himself to tell his ex-wife Carol about his condition.

Answer: Siddiq

At some point, a Whisperer who goes by the name of Dante infiltrated Alexandria and became a doctor there. Siddiq, whose memory of the night Alpha decapitated his friends and put their heads on pikes is faulty, eventually recognizes Dante as one of the Whisperers. When he does, Dante strangles him to death. Siddiq's death occurs in season 10, episode 7, "Open Your Eyes."

Answer: Father Gabriel

In episode 8, "The World Before," Dante attacks Rosita when it appears she might learn the truth about Dante killing Siddiq. Dante is put in the jail cell, and Rosita vents her anger at Siddiq's death by killing walkers. Father Gabriel, however, vents his anger in another way: he visits Dante in his cell and passionately stabs him to death.

Answer: Covers herself in blood and guts and merges with the horde

Carol chases Alpha into the cave where Alpha has hidden her horde, and several survivors follow her there. They're temporarily trapped, but they find an exit. Unfortunately, Carol detonates dynamite to destroy Alpha's horde, and the exit collapses before Connie and Magna can get out. This causes a rift in Carol's relationship with Daryl, who has developed a fondness for Connie.

Magna later reappears when Alpha's horde is set loose on the Hilltop. It turns out she disguised herself as a walker, merged with the horde, and filtered out with them when they were led out through another exit. However, she became separated from Connie.

In a later emotional scene, Kelly forgives Carol for her actions in the cave and expresses that she still believes Connie is alive.

Answer: Lydia

In episode 10, "Stalker," Lydia rescues Daryl but cannot bring herself to kill her mother Alpha. She patches Daryl up and looks out for him while he is passed out for hours. When he asks her if he killed Alpha, she asks him if he could bring himself to kill his own father.

Answer: Judith

Beta sneaks into Alexandria through a secret tunnel created by Dante and the Whsiperers. Using Rick's old revolver, Judith shoots Beta through a door, but he turns out to be wearing body armor and doesn't die - especially since Judith flees rather than checking and putting a second bullet in his head. Thus, Beta lives to regather another horde of walkers.

Answer: Pine sap

The audience sees Beta hacking into a tree to gather pine sap in the opening scenes of season 10, episode 11, "Morning Star." The Whisperers use the bladders of walkers to store the flammable sap and then use the intestines of the monsters to catapult the bags at the Hilltop, where they burst and drench the fence and the soldiers.

The Whisperers follow up by shooting flaming arrows into the Hilltop, and the sap, which is highly flammable, ignites.

Answer: Eugene

Eugene says this to Rosita in season 10, episode 11, "Morning Star." Eugene has been talking to a woman on the radio and developing a fondness for her. The two agree to meet, but then the attack on the Hilltop occurs. Rosita teases Eugene about the woman and encourages him to take the risk of meeting her in person.

Answer: Murders his wife and child

Virgil, played by Kevin Carroll, first appears in season 10, episode 8, "The World Before," when he saves Luke from a couple of walkers in the library and then runs off. He's later captured by Oceanside for tampering with their security system. Judith slashes him in the leg to keep him from escaping.

Virgil offers to trade Michonne weapons if she will help him get back to his family, but when they arrive on the island where he lives, Michonne learns his family has turned to walkers after dying of disease. Virgil has not been able to bring himself to slay their walker forms and bury them. He leads Michonne into a room and locks her inside. Virgil drugs her, which causes her to hallucinate what her life might be like if she had never met Andrea or joined Rick's group and had ended up, instead, with the Saviors.

Answer: Impales himself on a railroad spike

Daryl and Ezekiel make a pact that one of them will get the children out of the Hilltop if it becomes necessary, but it is actually the blacksmith Earl Sutton who leads them to safety. In the process, he is bitten by a walker and forced to kill himself, but only after he leaves the children in the charge of Judith. Earl drives a railroad spike into a table and impales himself on it. Judith is then forced to put down his walker corpse.

She's sitting slumped against a wall when Daryl later finds her. Daryl sits beside her and silently hugs her to himself.

Answer: Country singer

In season 10, epsiode 14, "Look at the Flowers," Beta visits a hotel room where there are guitars and vinyl records strewn about. He is shown looking at an album, titled "Half Moon," with his own face on the cover. He plays the record in order to begin drawing a new herd of walkers to lead.

In the comic book series on which the television series is based, Beta is revealed, instead, to have been a famous basketball player before the apocalypse.

A record with Beta's face on it also makes an appearance in the series "Fear the Walking Dead," on season 5, episode 14.

Answer: Daryl

In season 10, episode 15, "The Tower," Judith demands to accompany Daryl as he walks the perimeter of their temporary camp to work security, and he reluctantly allows her to. Daryl ends up killing a Whisperer and leaving her in a ditch. Judith protests, saying, "I can't believe we just left her in a ditch. What if you were lost and no one could find you? Where RJ was or mom?" When Daryl asks her where this is coming from, Judith admits she's worried her own mother Michonne won't come home.

Judith didn't tell Daryl where Michonne had gone, because she was afraid maybe he'd leave in pursuit of Rick, too. He says, "I won't." Judith asks him to promise, and he replies, "I can't lie to you. I don't know what's gonna happen. There ain't no one that can tell you they do. There's one thing I know, there's a whole bunch of people back there that would do anything for you. One day, when you're older, they're going to need you to do anything for them. You got a whole lot of family. Nothing can take the place of someone you love being gone. That doesn't mean that everything that follows is going to break your heart."

Answer: Princess

Princess is a quirky, flamboyant, and lonely survivor introduced in episode 15, "The Tower." Yukimo, Ezekiel, and Eugene encounter her on their journey to allow Eugene to meet up with a woman he met on the radio. She seems a bit scatterbrained, and leads them through a minefield. Eventually, they agree to take her with them. Princess, whose real name is Juanita Sanchez, is played by actress Paola Lázaro.
