Which class has access to all four weapon talents?
Hint

Question 3 of 15
3. While most talents have twelve levels, your class talent will only have six. Once you reach level 20, you will be informed of a particular mission by Admiral Hackett. Once you complete this mission, you will be able to unlock one of two specialization classes. The specialization class will unlock levels seven to twelve of your class talent. There are six specialization classes, so each one is shared by two base classes.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. There are three skill areas (combat, tech, biotics) that classes can have variable strength in. Three of the classes are specialist classes, and concentrate only on one skill area. The other three are hybrid classes, and split their focus across two skill areas. What are the three specialist classes?

Answer: Adept, Engineer, and Soldier

The Adept is the biotic specialist, the Engineer is the tech specialist, and the Soldier is the combat specialist. Each of these classes are superb in their own fields, but their lack of diversity means they have to use the same tactics for every situation. This can be a problem, especially on higher difficulties. To counter this problem, players of these classes should choose squad members that cover the other skill areas so you can easily take on any scenario.

Of the hybrid classes, the Sentinel is the biotic/tech hybrid, the Infiltrator is the combat/tech hybrid, and the Vanguard is the biotic/combat hybrid. These classes can generally tackle situations with a larger variety of methods, but they don't have access to the best talents of their skill areas, such as the Engineer's Hacking, or the Soldier's ability to wear heavy armor.
2. Each class has a set of talents associated with it. Most can train with one or two different weapon types, but one can train in all four weapon types. Which class has access to all four weapon talents?

Answer: Soldier

The Soldier has no access to biotics or tech abilities, and makes up for it by being able to dish out damage at any range. The Soldier has access to the Pistols, Shotguns, Assault Rifles, and Sniper Rifles talents. They are the only class that has access to the Assault Rifles talent.

Shotguns are great for short-range, and can take down most enemies in one or two shots. Assault rifles are great for medium-short ranges, where the shotgun's spread would be too wide to accurately hit anything. Pistols cover medium-long-range, especially if the Assault Rifles talent has not been leveled up very far, making the assault rifle's accuracy degenerate quickly. Sniper rifles cover long-range fights of up to 400 meters (or at least that's how far the rangefinder works).

The Infiltrator only has access to the Pistols and Sniper Rifles talents, and the Adept has access to only the Pistols talent. The Sentinel has no weapon talents, but is given Marksman (for pistols) at level six of its class talent.
Which specialization class is shared by the Adept and Vanguard?

Answer: Nemesis

The Adept and the Vanguard both have access to offensive biotic abilities, and the Nemesis serves to enhance those. The Nemesis grants major increases in the effectiveness of Warp and Lift, allowing you to thoroughly control the battlefield.

Bastion is shared by the Adept and the Sentinel, and focuses on improving the defensive biotic abilities that they share. The Operative, for the Engineer and Infiltrator, focuses on offensive tech abilities, and the Commando, for the Infiltrator and Soldier, focuses on long-range weapon usage.
4. Each specialization class can come from two of the base classes. If you are a Shock Trooper, what was one possibility for your original class?

Answer: Vanguard

Shock Troopers can be made from Vanguards or Soldiers. Shock Troopers have heightened defensive capabilities (improved Barrier/Immunity), allowing them to run into situations focusing on dealing as much damage as possible, while not necessarily worrying about personal health. This is especially useful for people who focus on Shotguns and close-range fighting.
5. While every class can equip armor and each of the four weapon types, only some classes can equip omni-tools, and only some can equip bio-amps. Which class can equip both an omni-tool and a bio-amp?

Answer: Sentinel

Omni-tools are generally associated with tech abilities, and grant tech-specific bonuses. Bio-amps, similarly, are associated with biotics. The Sentinel is the biotic/tech hybrid, and therefore has a reason to equip both. Engineers and Infiltrators can only equip omni-tools, and Adepts and Vanguards can only equip bio-amps. Soldiers can equip neither.
6. Each class can choose one of two specialization classes later in the game. Which class can become a Commando or an Operative?

Answer: Infiltrator

The Commando and the Operative are the two options given to the Infiltrator as specialization classes. The Commando improves the Infiltrator's combat abilities, increasing weapon damage, and decreasing the cooldown times for Marksman and Assassination.

The Operative augments the Infiltrator's tech side, reducing cooldown times for tech abilities, and greatly improving Overload and Sabotage.
7. The Mechanic is a specialization class in "Mass Effect".

Answer: False

The Mechanic is one of the level 4 specializations of the Tech Mastery power in "Mass Effect 2", available to the Engineer. It decreases power recharge time, and increases duration. Tech powers in "Mass Effect 2" are more offensive and damaging than those found in "Mass Effect".

They are geared to different types of defenses, freezing enemies in place, and summoning combat drones. "Mass Effect" tech powers generally focus on disabling an enemy by overheating weapons and removing the ability to use biotics and tech attacks against your own squad.

Some abilities, like Overload and AI Hacking, are used in both games, and have similar effects.
8. Which class, provided it chooses the correct specialization class, can revive squad members with Medi-gel?

Answer: Engineer

The Medic (as implied by its name) is very focused on keeping the squad alive and functioning. The Engineer can become a Medic (or an Operative) along with the Sentinel.

Usually to revive fallen squad members you have to wait until the fight is over, or use Unity, provided by the Spectre Training talent. A Medic that has fully leveled up its class talent, however, gets the unique ability to revive squad members using mere Medi-gel. The Medic talent also lowers the cooldown times on medical abilities (Medi-gel and Neural Shock), similarly to the Medicine talent. The First Aid talent increases the amount of health recovered by each use of Medi-gel. Combine all three of these, and using Medi-gel will not only revive fallen squad members, but will actually heal them better than Unity, and you will be able to do so more often. This can be very useful on harder difficulties, especially if you are working with squad members with low defensive capabilities (Tali, Liara, Kaidan, Garrus).
9. Each class has its own set of talents that lend themselves to certain play styles, such as short-range and aggressive, or defensive and thorough, or crowd control. Which class naturally has access to the Sniper Rifles talent? (Note: All classes can get access to the Sniper Rifles talent. Two classes have natural access to it, while the other four have to select it as a bonus talent at the beginning of the game.)

Answer: Infiltrator

The Infiltrator is one of two classes with natural access to Sniper Rifles (the other being the Soldier). The Infiltrator uses tech talents to disable the shields and weapons of enemies, and then uses sniper rifles to place clean, killing shots on disabled targets.
10. Specialization classes usually focus on improving specific parts of gameplay, or even specific abilities by increasing their effectiveness or decreasing their cooldown times. Which specialization class lets you damage enemies while they are in a Stasis field?

Answer: Bastion

The Bastion is generally associated with the improvement of defensive biotic abilities. It is ironic that a fully leveled Bastion makes Stasis any enemy's worst nightmare.

Stasis usually immobilizes an enemy. It cannot move, attack, or be damaged. It is just temporarily removed from the fight while you focus on other problems. Bastion, however, removes that last part. An enemy in a Bastion's Stasis field will not be able to move or attack, but it will still take damage. A full level Stasis will last 21 seconds, and even longer depending on which bio-amp you have equipped. This is more than enough time to take out almost any enemy.
11. Most talents fall into one of the three skill areas (combat, tech, biotics). Usually a class will not have talents from a skill area that it does not focus on (there are exceptions). Which class has no naturally available tech talents?

Answer: Vanguard

The three incorrect answers all focus, at least in part, on tech. The Infiltrator is the combat/tech hybrid, the Sentinel is the biotic/tech hybrid, and the Engineer is the tech specialist. As a result, each has access to tech talents.

The Vanguard is the biotic/combat hybrid, and focuses on combat (armor and weapons) and biotic talents.
12. Which specialization classes are not available to classes with biotic talents?

Answer: Commando and Operative

There are three classes that focus on biotics, and by extension, have biotic talents. They are the Sentinel (biotic/tech), the Adept (biotic), and the Vanguard (biotic/combat). Across these three classes are four specialization classes: the Medic, the Bastion, the Nemesis, and the Shock Trooper.

The only two specialization classes left are the Commando (from Infiltrator/Soldier) and the Operative (Engineer/Infiltrator).
13. Because there are six specialization classes, each one can come from one of two original classes. Which two classes can become the Bastion specialization class?

Answer: Adept and Sentinel

The Bastion specialization class augments defensive biotic abilities, which the Sentinel and Adept share. This is a breakdown of all the specialization classes and their base classes:

Bastion (improves defensive biotics) - Adept/Sentinel
Medic (improves medical tech) - Engineer/Sentinel
Operative (improves offensive tech) - Engineer/Infiltrator
Commando (improves long-range combat) - Infiltrator/Soldier
Shock Trooper (improves short-range combat) - Soldier/Vanguard
Nemesis (improves offensive biotics) - Adept/Vanguard
14. Which class has natural access to Singularity? (Note: All classes can get access to the Singularity talent. One class has natural access to it, while the other five have to select it as a bonus talent at the beginning of the game.)

Answer: Adept

Singularity is one of the best abilities in "Mass Effect", and thus is only offered to the biotic specialist. Whatever gets too close to the singularity will be picked up and will start orbiting it. It is not uncommon to see many enemies all helplessly flying around while you have your squad deploy tech powers or just damage the easy targets with your weapons.
15. Which class appears in both "Mass Effect" and Bioware's previous RPG title "Knights of the Old Republic"?

Answer: Sentinel

There are actually two classes that share the same name between "Knights of the Old Republic" and "Mass Effect".

One is the Soldier, which is similar in both games: heavily weapon and armor oriented. The other is the Sentinel. In "Knights of the Old Republic" the Sentinel is a Jedi class that is a balance between the two extremes of combat use and Force use.

The Scout from "Knights of the Old Republic" focuses on medium sized weapons, and generally focuses on survival skills.

The Guardian and the Consular from "Knights of the Old Republic" are both Jedi classes. The Guardian focuses on lightsaber combat and armor, and is similar to the Soldier. The Consular is the opposite, and uses Force powers to get the job done, rather than hacking everything apart with a laser sword.
