Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Much like other epic dungeons, such as ETOS, the Lair of Lostmauth is not based off of any campaign in the game. However, much like ETOS, the Lair of Lostmauth's geographic location is well known. Where is the Lair of Lostmauth?

Answer: The island of Tuern

In this epic dungeon, Severin and the Cult of the Dragon have made it through this island and have entered the dungeon. The description of this dungeon suggests that Severin is attempting to reach Lostmauth to establish an alliance with the mighty dragon.
2. Like ETOS, the Lair of Lostmauth has two mini bosses before leading way into the final boss. Who, or what, is the first boss of this dungeon?

Answer: Drake Rider

The Drake Rider is a glorified version of the Assassin Drake. As such, all it really is is a bigger, bulkier, and harder hitting version of the Assassin Drake. You should have very little difficulty getting through it.
3. The first boss may have slightly underwhelmed in this epic dungeon. Rest assured, however, the second boss will not. Here, you are attacked by multiple Fire Scorpions. How many Fire Scorpions attack you in this conflict?

Answer: Two

This boss is officially known as "Twin Fire Scorpions." If you remember going through the Elemental Evil campaign, you may have come across a Fire Scorpion at the Fiery Pit during a Heroic Encounter. If you did, then you should immediately know that these two aren't messing around.

The Fire Scorpion may not be as bulky as your average boss, but it more than makes up for it by hitting devastatingly hard with a lot of its attacks. In particular, when it recoils its stinger, you would do well to get out of the way; it is not only going to try to stab you with the stinger, but the area in which it has struck with its stinger will spawn a large plume of lava.

In this plume, if you continue to stand in it, you will take moderate damage over time and have your Power reduced drastically. Simply avoiding the stinger prevents this from being a problem, but is definitely easier said than done, as the Fire Scorpion strikes hard and fast.
4. In areas that have had lava in the terrain such as Mount Hotenow or the Fiery Pit, stepping in this lava would instantly kill you. In the Lair of Lostmauth, will the lava instantly kill you upon stepping in it?

Answer: No

The lava here will not instantly kill you. However, it should go without saying that you should not get too comfortable standing in it; it saps away 1/5th of your health for every second you are in it. Unfortunately, you will be left for dead if the lava kills you since it takes five seconds for a player to be able to revive you.

There are three instances where lava comes into effect. One of them is early on in the dungeon, as you try to jump from rock to rock over a ravenous pit of lava. You can get knocked into the lava by an onslaught of slow fireballs being fired by nearby cannons, as these fireballs create enough knockback to do it.

The second instance where lava becomes a noticeable factor is right before you reach Lostmauth. Thankfully, it is fairly easy to get across the floating rocks here, as the gaps between them are small.

Unfortunately, unlike the first instance, if you should happen to make a mistake here, you will fall far enough where you won't have a chance to save yourself from death, meaning the lava here may as well kill you instantly. Finally, when fighting Lostmauth, once you get him to around half health, he will fly away and cover a large portion of the battlefield with this lava.

He will also try to drop stalagtites on you and your party, in an attempt to knock you into the lava, before returning to the fight.
5. You tried to reach Lostmauth before Severin. Alas, you were moments too late, as Severin is right in the middle of a discussion with the mighty dragon upon your arrival, attempting to construct an alliance. Does Lostmauth agree to Severin's terms?

Answer: Yes

You enter Lostmauth's Lair right as Severin has sealed the deal on an alliance with him. Lostmauth affirms your fears, telling Severin that Severin's payment towards him is adequate enough. Severin will then walk away, agreeing to meet Lostmauth in Neverwinter after it has been burned to the ground.
6. The Cult of the Dragon has worked with many dragons over the course of this game. Your journey started with Charthraxis in the Neverdeath Graveyard, and now it has taken you to this dungeon's final boss, Lostmauth. What color dragon is Lostmauth?

Answer: Red

Fittingly, in an epic dungeon full of lava and fire, Lostmauth's color is red. Right after Severin and Lostmauth agree to an alliance, Lostmauth notices that you have infilitrated his lair. At this point, you begin conflict with Lostmauth. Lostmauth and the last dragon you faced in an epic dungeon, Fulminorax, have a few combat specific things in common.

The first of which is having a very powerful knockback based attack that covers a very large range. The second is that, rather than summoning minions to aid them once they reach half their health, they will both fly away and give way to a deadly sequence of attacks.

In Lostmauth's case, he will fly away and attempt to drop stalagtites on you, trying to knock you into a pool of lava he has created.

In addition, Lostmauth has generic dragon attacks, glorified by his status as a boss; he will breathe fire on you, try to knock you back with his tail, and shoot fireballs at you, akin to the ones coming out of the cannons earlier. Finally, there are those very same cannons in this lair, aiding Lostmauth throughout the entirety of the battle.
7. As the party meets Lostmauth, what will Lostmauth label the party as?

Answer: A meal

As Lostmauth is talking to Severin, Severin tells Lostmauth to meet him in Neverwinter after Lostmauth has destroyed it. Lostmauth will agree, but will then tell Severin "first, I shall have a meal." As he says this, Lostmauth's eyes turn towards the party, clearly referencing them as the "meal."
8. Which of the following is an item that can potentially appear in the End Reward Treasure Chest?

Answer: Breyer's Draconic Investigations

This book is key to finishing the Tyranny of Dragons campaign. It is required in order to complete one of the five boons involved with the campaign. It is far from guaranteed to appear in this chest, but if it does, consider yourself lucky and hang onto it.
9. Exclusive to itself and itself only, the Lair of Lostmauth contains a second Chest by a different title, one which can hold unique rewards to it, called the Arcane Dragon Chest. One of the keys that can be used to open it is the well known Legendary Dragon Key. There is one other key that can be used to open this Chest. What key is it?

Answer: Arcane Dragon Key

The Arcane Dragon Key is an extremely rare key that can be found within the Tyranny of Dragons campaign. It can be found through Heroic Encounters or crafted via the campaign itself. It is extremely expensive to craft via the campaign, however, so you may wish to gather a few friends to run through some Heroic Encounters in the Well of Dragons.
10. Every dungeon in this game has a well known niche to it that separates itself from other dungeons in this game. Up until the eleventh module (update) of the game, what has Lair of Lostmauth's well known niche been?

Answer: Being the easiest epic dungeon in the game to solo

Lair of Lostmauth, despite its intimidating appearance, is quite easy to complete alone when compared to its counterparts. Really, the only parts of the dungeon that would even be slightly hard to complete alone are the Twin Fire Scorpions and Lostmauth himself. Even still, the dungeon lacks factors that would be adept at overwhelming a single player, such as the Infernal Portals found at Valindra's Tower, or ways which you can be killed in one hit and be better off with party assistance, such as Valindra's Tower or Malabog's Castle. Finally, the fight with Lostmauth doesn't involve the invoking of any aggro at all, which is what makes facing Syndryth or the two mini bosses alone in ETOS a daunting task. Standalone, it is by no means easy to complete, but comparatively, it is much, much easier to complete than other epic dungeons in the game.
