Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the person who gives you your starting Pokémon?

Answer: Professor Oak

Professor Oak's lab is basically next to your house in Pallet Town. In "Pokémon Blue or Red", he'll let you choose between Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander, but in "Pokémon Yellow", he'll simply give you Pikachu. When you retrieve a package for him in Viridian City, you'll also be given the Pokédex in order to record data about Pokémon from all over the Kanto region of the game.
2. Who is the creator of the Pokémon storage system?

Answer: Bill

Bill can be found in his house on Route 25 to the north of Cerulean City. Before meeting Bill, the storage system is known as 'someone's PC', but after the encounter, it will become 'Bill's PC'. You can also have your own storage system with your own name for items.

These PCs can be found in any Pokécenter around Kanto. Bill is to one who will give you a ticket for the S. S. Anne in Vermilion City.
3. Why was Mr. Fuji on the seventh floor of the Pokémon Tower?

Answer: To ease the soul of a ghost

When you finish finding the Silph Scope in Celadon City's Game Corner, you can head to the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town and meet Mr. Fuji. He's supposed to be in the Pokémon House at the entrance to the tower, but instead, he's trapped on the top floor of the haunted building. Make your way past the Channelers, Gastlies and Cubones, and reach the top floor. If you're playing "Pokémon Yellow", you'll find Jessie and James here, but usually, there'll just be some plain old Team Rocket members blocking your path.

When you get Mr. Fuji out of the castle, all will be well.
4. During the game, your rival from the start will be a step ahead of you until the end. Is your rival fought before the Elite Four (and after reaching Indigo Plateau)?

Answer: No

Your rival will be the first opponent you fight in the game in Professor Oak's laboratory, and he'll also be your final challenge after you defeat the members of the Elite Four. In "Pokémon Red and Blue", your rival will always choose the Pokémon that has a type advantage against you, but in "Pokémon Yellow", they'll have an Eevee which becomes a Flareon, Vaporeon, or Jolteon. If you play "Pokémon Yellow", you could have the chance to play two extra battles at the entrance to Victory Road near the beginning and end of the game.
5. How many badge-giving gym leaders are met in any of these three games ("Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow")?

Answer: Eight

These eight are Brock, Misty, Lt. Surge, Erika, Koga, Sabrina, Blaine, and Giovanni. All of these gyms can be found in the eight largest cities in Kanto, and each must be fought and defeated in order for you to reach the Elite Four at the Indigo Plateau.

After each battle, you'll receive a new badge and a rare TM to use on a Pokémon. Each badge will do something different. Some will allow Pokémon at a certain level to obey you while some will allow your Pokémon to use HMs outside of battle.
6. What item must you return to the Safari Warden in order to receive HM04?

Answer: Gold Teeth

In Fuchsia City's Safari Zone, you may come across a pair of Gold Teeth near the Secret House containing HM03. If you return this set of dentures to the Safari Warden in his house in Fuchsia City, he'll give you HM04 (Strength) and it can be used to push large boulders outside of battle.

Although this can be done on your first trip to the Safari Zone, you'll need to defeat the proper gym leader before you can use it outside of battle.
7. What object is given to you by the President of Silph Co.?

Answer: Master Ball

If you manage to battle Giovanni and force him to leave the eleventh floor of the Silph Co. Building in Saffron City, the head of this large corporation will give you what is possibly the most valuable item in the game. The Master Ball allows you to catch any Pokémon instantly, without hassle.

In "Pokémon Blue and Red", you can use the Missing_No cheat to get a large amount of these, but in "Pokémon Yellow", you're stuck with just one!
8. Who is the head of Team Rocket?

Answer: Giovanni

Giovanni is found in the Game Corner, Silph Co. Building, and Viridian City Gym. Although he's the head of the crime syndicate, Team Rocket, he seems to have plenty of time to get around and battle trainers. This important individual uses ground-type Pokémon (and in "Pokémon Yellow", a Persian).

In the game, he'll give you the Silph Scope, the Earthbadge, and TM27 (containing Fissure).
9. Which is not a Pokémon that Jessie and James will have in "Pokémon Yellow"?

Answer: Persian

In order to stay true to the "Pokémon" animé TV show, Jessie and James were added to the cast of characters in "Pokémon Yellow". This duo is first found in Mt. Moon, and they'll appear near Team Rocket throughout the entire game. Their Ekans and Koffing will evolve into their second forms as you progress, but their Meowth will remain a Meowth due to the fact that it always stays the same on the show.
10. Lorelei, Agatha, and Lance are all members of the Elite Four. Who is the only member not mentioned?

Answer: Bruno

Bruno specializes in ground and fighting-type Pokémon, and he's the second to be fought in the Elite Four battles. The Elite Four is what you strive to beat throughout the game, and to reach them you need to obtain the eight gym leader badges. After you defeat the Elite Four, you'll battle your rival and possibly become the greatest Pokémon trainer.
