Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I-35 and I-70.

Answer: Kansas City, MO

In case you did not know, if the interstate has an even number, it runs east-west. If the interstate has a odd number, it runs north-south. Generally speaking, odd numbed interstates are lowest in number in the west (I-5 runs along the Pacific coast) and highest in number in the east (I-95 runs along the Atlantic coast). Generally speaking, even number interstates are lowest in number in the south (I-4, an intrastate interstate, is in Florida) and highest in number in the north (I-94 goes through, among other states, North Dakota). Three digit interstates form beltways around cities or spurs off other (mainly one and two digit) interstates.

Another interstate in Kansas City is I-29. I-70 has its eastern end in Baltimore, MD, and its western end in rural Utah. I-35 has its northern end in Duluth, MN, and its southern end in Laredo, TX (the city is on the Mexican border). I-35 splits in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. I-35E goes through Dallas, and I-35W goes through Ft. Worth. Another major interstate in Dallas is I-20.

Interstates in Milwaukee include I-43 and I-94. In Memphis the interstates include I-40 and I-55.
2. I-77 and I-85.

3. I-76 and I-95.

Answer: Philadelphia, PA

I-76 forms most of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, but in the Philadelphia area I-76 becomes "The Schuylkill Expressway," and I-276 becomes the eastern end of the Turnpike. The eastern end of this I-76 is just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia in New Jersey.

The western end of this I-76 is near Akron, OH. There are actually two I-76's. There is the one mentioned above and another one which has one end in rural Nebraska and the other end in Denver, CO. Interstates in Baltimore include I-70, I-83, and I-95.

In the Washington, DC area the interstates include I-66 and I-95. The much talked about beltway of Washington, DC is I-495. Around Columbus, interstates include I-70 and I-71.
