Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
Let's look at the correct answers first. Ludovic Bagman appears in two of the books in the 'Harry Potter' series - 'The Goblet of Fire' and 'The Order of the Phoenix'. He is the head of the Division for Magical Games and Sports and is loyal to the Ministry of Magic.
Terry Boot is a student at Hogwarts and is in the same year as Harry Potter. He is sorted into Ravenclaw and remains loyal to Harry, becoming a member of Dumbledore's Army and fighting in the final battle at the school.
Dudley Dursley is Harry's cousin and a muggle - someone who has no magical ability. He is spoiled by his parents, Harry's guardians, and makes Harry's life miserable. After Harry saves him from an attack by the Dementors, Dudley becomes kinder and the cousins remain in touch even when they are adults.
Argus Filch is the caretaker at the school and owns a cat, named Mrs Norris, who snoops on the students at Hogwarts. He is always trying to catch the students out and is especially unkind to Harry. He redeems himself at the end of the story by saving students during the battle against Voldemort and taking part in fighting against him.
Gregory Goyle, along with Vincent Grabbe, is one of Draco Malfoy's followers. All three of them belong to Slytherin and are enemies of Harry's. Goyle and Malfoy are saved by Harry, Ron and Hermione during the Battle of Hogwarts, despite the way they had treated Harry and his friends.
Viktor Krum is Bulgarian and a student at a different wizard school, called Durmstrang. He first appears taking part in the Quidditch World Cup and plays an important part in the 'Goblet of Fire' where he is one of the entrants in the Tri-Wizard Tournament.
Gilderoy Lockhart appears in the second of the 'Harry Potter' books, the 'Chamber of Secrets'. He is a teacher at the school, taking on the role of Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts. He is a vain man who takes credit for carrying out acts of bravery which were actually done by other people.
Alastor Moody is known as 'Mad-Eye' due to the artificial eye he has to replace the one lost in an earlier battle. The eye has magical properties and is used by Dolores Umbridge to spy on people. Moody is a member of the Order of the Phoenix.
Horace Slughorn is another of the teachers at Hogwarts, appearing in the last two books in the series, although he plays a bigger role in the 'Half-Blood Prince'. He becomes the temporary headmaster of Hogwarts in the final book and is loyal to Professor Dumbledore and Harry throughout.
Oliver Wood is the captain of Gryffindor's quidditch team and appears in all of the 'Harry Potter' books. He is loyal to Harry and returns to Hogwarts to take part in the big battle against Lord Voldemort even though he is no longer a student at the school.
Of the incorrect answers, Digory Kirke, Lucy Pevensie and Eustace Scrubb all appear in the 'Chronicles of Narnia' series written by C S Lewis. Roald Dahl created James Trotter, Augustus Gloop and Matilda Wormwood. James appears in 'James and the Giant Peach', Augustus is in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and Matilda in the book bearing her name. The last two, Lyra Belaqua and Will Parry, are both from Philip Pullmans's 'His Dark Materials' series.
