1. Sam Temple is one of the most important characters in the "Gone" books. This is partially due to his power, which involves which of the following things?

Answer: Light

His powers involve light - he can use it as a weapon (or a tool) by burning through things, or as a light source, by creating a hanging ball of light. He is a "4-bar" on Diana's measuring system, so he has one of the best powers, and his power is quite useful for him, since he is (at least in the first few books) scared of the dark.

2. Caine Soren is an antagonist: he displays greed, has few morals and co-operates with the Gaiaphage by trying to feed it uranium (although not necessarily by his own free will). Which of the following characters does he NOT kill?

Answer: Sam

Afetr "visiting" the Gaiaphage between "Gone" and "Hunger", Caine becomes temporarily crazy - during his period of insanity, he throws Chunk through a wall, thinking he is some sort of monster.

Caine kills Lance after Lance and Turk tried to murder Albert, to show his power and that, as long as Caine is in power, criminals will not go unpunished.

Hank tried to shoot at Caine when Caine was trying to escape on a boat, so Caine levitated him and dropped him from a massive height into the water, killing him.

3. Albert Hillsborough becomes progressively more essential throughout the series. His first big moment was when which of the following happened?

Answer: He re-opened McDonalds

Albert is a businessman: he has no power, is loyal to no-one and becomes arguably the most important person in the FAYZ by giving people jobs, creating currency and monitoring resources.

When we first see him, he opens McDonalds and starts serving people food - this becomes one of the things he is most well known for. Rather than fighting with Caine or the Gaiaphage, he fights against starvation and keeps the kids in the FAYZ alive on a day-to-day basis.

4. Lana Arwen Lazar is known mostly for her power of healing, which saved the lives of dozens of people. She discovered her power after which of the following?

Answer: A car accident

When the FAYZ was created, she was in a car with her grandfather driving. He suddenly disappeared, meaning the car crashed. She managed to survive, and noticed that she was healing Patrick (her dog) when she touched him - this is how she discovered her power.

5. Quinn Gaither is friends with Sam before the FAYZ. Although he betrays Sam during "Gone", he quickly makes up for it and stays friends with Sam for the rest of the series. In "Lies", he manages to find a job he is good at, and is a major provider of food. What job does he do?

Answer: Fishing

He is friends with Sam because of their shared love of surfing, and loves to be out at sea. He comes up with the idea of fishing in "Lies", and leads a crew of fishers for the rest of the series.

6. Drake Merwin is most certainly a villain, and probably the most evil person in the series. He is well-known for which of these strange mutations?

Answer: A whip hand

The Gaiaphage uses Lana's power to give Drake a whip hand, which becomes the subject of terror among the people in the FAYZ. The coyotes nickname him "Whip Hand", and he whips Sam almost to death in "Hunger".

7. Which of the following words does NOT describe Dekka Talent?

Answer: Autistic

Dekka has the power to suspend gravity in an area within close range to her.

She is a part of three minority groups, and throughout the books, there are a few homophobic or anti-freak comments directed towards her. Zil hates her for all three of the above reasons, and plenty of people dislike or are scared of her because of her power.

8. Astrid Ellison is nicknamed "Astrid the Genius". She becomes part of the most well-known couple in the FAYZ when she enters a relationship with which of the following characters?

Answer: Sam

Sam and Astrid have an on-off relationship. They often fight and argue a lot, often disagreeing about the most recent change in the FAYZ (flying bats, killer worms etc.), but they end up together.

Sam had a crush on her even before the FAYZ began, and after it ends, they go and live together in the "real" world.

Caine and Diana are a couple, Lana dates Sanjit late in the series and Albert stays single throughout.

9. Edilio Escobar becomes incredibly distraught when he thinks which of the following characters has died in "Light"?

Answer: Roger

Edilio has his ups and downs throughout the books: he is in various positions of power, becoming head of the council, mayor and the leader at Lake Tramonto. He becomes really happy at the lake, living in a boat with his boyfriend Roger and a younger child, Justin, who Roger unofficially started taking care of in "Lies".

Roger and Justin's supposed deaths really shock him, and he cries a lot over them. However, at the very end of "Light", he sees Roger alive on the television and goes to find him. We don't find out if he succeeds, or even if Roger really was alive.

10. This character was best friends with Orc, each relying on the other. He ran an alcohol still and is often known for inventing words of phrases - he came up with the acronym "FAYZ". In "Fear", he is killed by Drake and eaten by coyotes. Who is he?

Answer: Howard

Howard Bassem was a member of the council, created the name "'Bertos" for Albert's currency and invented the acronym "FAYZ" ("Fallout Alley Youth Zone"). However, after his death, no-one really notices or misses him, apart from Orc.
