Kazuo later used these hand grenades to launch an attack on Shuya, Noriko, and Shogo, but neither grenade actually got to cause any damage. Shuya caught the first one before it hit the ground, and threw it back, and Shogo shot the second one before it landed.

Yoshitoki was given an antique auto-winding wristwatch by the maintenance man, and Shuya was given a guitar. The maintenance man was eventually taken away and sent to an enforced labour camp, but Yoshitoki and Shuya had always liked him and enjoyed his company.

Yumiko's "egg-cat" pen went missing, and she accused her friend, who came from a poor family, of stealing it from her.
