Kazuhiko was going out with Sakura Ogawa, and they were known as a couple to the rest of the class. Neither of them seemed to belong to any of the groups within the class, they tended to spend their time together instead.

Yoshimi and Yoji became a couple after they bumped into each other while shopping. They had known each other as classmates prior to this, but had never really considered each other as a partner until then. They first slept together on Saturday 18th January.

Yoshimi was no stranger to breaking the law - she was arrested several times for theft, and once for blackmail. She was also a part of Mitsuko Souma's gang, so she was involved in prostitution along with Mitsuko and Hirono Shimizu. If Yoshimi was involved in drugs, it is not mentioned in the novel.

Kazuhiko met up with Sakura near the cliffs after they left the school. Along the way, he stopped to pick a bunch of clovers for her, to be his last gift to her.

Kazuhiko's issued weapon was a Colt .357 Magnum, but he never had any plans to use it, because he joined the suicide pact with Sakura. We never find out Sakura's issued weapon, but Kazuhiko's is mentioned when the two of them meet up.

Yoshimi's issued weapon was a Colt Government Model .45 Automatic Pistol. As the game progresses, then gun is passed between Yoshimi, Yoji Kuramoto, Mitsuko Souma, Hiroki Sugimura, and Kazuo Kiriyama. Yoji takes the gun from Yoshimi when they first meet up, and the gun is taken by Mitsuko when she kills them.

When Hiroki runs into Mitsuko, he takes her gun and lets her go, and she later takes the gun back from him when he is dead. Finally, Kazuo Kiriyama takes the gun from Mitsuko after he kills her.

Kazuhiko meets up with Sakura shortly before 3:30 am - it takes them this long to reach the meeting place after leaving the school. Kazuhiko arrived after Sakura, because her number was called near the beginning, and Kazuhiko was the penultimate student to leave. They hug and chat for a short while, then both jump from the cliff.

Yoshimi drew the "Fair Luck" fortune at the New Year's celebration. Yoji had received "Very Good Luck", so he swapped it with her. It was acts like this which made Yoshimi refuse to believe Yoji when he told her he was only with her because he thought she was easy.

As Kazuhiko left the school, he saw the bodies of Mayumi Tendo and Yoshio Akamatsu. These students were killed about three quarters of the way through the list of students exiting the school, and being the last boy to leave, Kazuhiko saw both of them.

Yoshimi was fighting with Yoji, who seemed to want to kill her, but just as she started to get him to see sense, Mitsuko arrived and shot Yoji. Yoshimi ran at Mitsuko, angry that she'd killed the man she loved, and Mitsuko defended herself and shot Yoshimi in the forehead.
