1. Last night at the The Waggin' Inn, once the fists stopped flying and the glasses breaking, 1975's 'I Like Beer' came on the jukebox, and things got friendly again. I bought a round, and soon we were singing along. Which Kentucky-born country artist do we have to thank for saving our bar?

Answer: Tom T. Hall

'I Like Beer' was written and recorded by Tom T. Hall in 1975. Released as the lead single from the 'Faster Horses' album, it reached number four on the U.S. country singles chart.

Tom T. Hall was born in Olive Hill Kentucky in 1936, and has been nicknamed 'The Story Teller' because of his songwriting style. In 2008 he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
2. I just heard a song on the oldies station, and I was amazed! It was by Slim Dusty, and there is a fine reason he was known as the 'King of Australian Country Music'. What hit did he wow the world with first in 1957?

Answer: Pub With No Beer

Spanning a music career of nearly 80 years, Slim Dusty was the first Australian to have a Billboard number one hit song - which was 'Pub With No Beer', written by Gordon Parsons. Slim Dusty had quite a few popular hits, including 'Walk a Country Mile' and 'The Biggest Disappointment'.

He recorded and released 100 albums, and sang 'Waltzing Matilda' at the close of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
3. Around about midnight, my best buddy and I were hunched over the bar, nursing our glasses of beer - alone again because our women had up and left us, when the perfect song came on the jukebox. It was almost as if Hank Williams was right there at the bar with us. Do you know what appropriate song from he was singing?

Answer: There's a Tear in My Beer

Hank Williams wrote and recorded 'There's a Tear in My Beer' in 1950, but did not release the song. It was not until his son, Hank Williams Jr., rerecorded it and 'added' some vocals in 1988, and released it in 1989, that the song became an American classic. 'There's a Tear in My Beer' reached number seven on U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles.
4. After being on the road for days, I was feeling a bit sad and lonesome, so I turned on the radio. Lo and behold, a song that always makes me smile was playing - 1999's 'Beer Thirty'. I knew right away what duo was singing, but do you know who I can always count on for some good fun?

Answer: Brooks & Dunn

'Beer Thirty' was released on the album 'Tight Rope', and reached number 19 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs. And as the song tells us, 'It's beer thirty, a honky tonk time!' Brooks and Dunn have had several successful songs, including 'My Maria' and 'Ain't Nothing 'bout You'.
5. It's funny, but every time a 2003 song by Toby Keith and Willie Nelson comes on, everyone in my family sings along, and they get so carried away that I've never been able to catch the entire title - which is also the main line! That great duo sings a song titled 'Beer for My ____'.

Answer: Horses

Released in 2003 from Toby Keith's 2002 album 'Unleashed', 'Beer for My Horses' was number one for six weeks on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Song Chart. A comedic film adaptation of the song came out in 2008, and starred Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, Ted Nugent and Rodney Carrington.

Answer: Neal McCoy

'Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On' was Neal McCoy's first single for his own label. It reached number ten on the Hot Country Song Chart in 2005. Answer: Beer Run

Released in 2001 as a collaborative effort between George Jones and Garth Brooks, 'Beer Run', the song with the catchy refrain of 'B double E double R, U - N', made the song a tavern favorite. In 2005, Heineken had a Super Bowl commercial which starred Brad Pitt and the song 'Beer Run'.
