The Yankees were the only American League team to reach 100 with a 101-61 record. 2 National League teams reached the plateau, Atlanta with a mirror record of the Yankees, then the Giants who finished the season at 100-61. The only other team close was the Athletics with 96 wins.

The Babe pitched in 10 seasons, with only 4 as a primary pitcher. His best season was in 1916 with the Red Sox, when he went 23-12 with 170 strikeouts, along with 9 shutouts. 2 years before his retirement in 1935, he pitched a complete 9 inning game for the Yankees and won it. Since 1919, he only pitched in 5 games. 1920 he pitched in 1, 1921 he threw in 2 games, 1930 he pitched in 1, and his final arm was displayed in 1933.

He pitched against the Boston Red Sox. He threw 3 innings, did not allow a run, and struck out 1 batter. Before that, his last appearance was in 1953 as a St. Louis Brown.

He was inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame with a 28-31 pitching record.

Answer: George Brett

Brett played his entire career in a Royals uniform. His first title was in 1976 when he batted .333. In 1980, he won it with an average of .390, then again in 1990 when he batted .329. After 21 seasons, he retired with a .305 career average in 1993.

Answer: Shawn Green

The others were American Leaguers in 2002. Green of the Dodgers, not only hit 4 home runs on May 23, but also had a double and a single, breaking Joe Adcock's total base record for one game with 19. Shawn did this against the Brewers. He finished the season with 42 home runs.
10. Which of the following players, had the nickname of 'Pee Wee'?

Answer: Harold Reese

Harold "Pee Wee" Reese, played his entire career with the Dodgers for 16 seasons, from 1940-1958. This shortstop had the honor of playing next to the great Jackie Robinson at 2nd base in the 1947 World Series. Reese is a member of baseball's Hall of Fame.
