Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On the SyFy series, "Warehouse 13", where do the field agents live, which is also the location of Lena's Bed and Breakfast?

Answer: Univille, South Dakota

The warehouse that protects the world from potentially harmful supernatural artifacts is located seven miles outside of the fictional town of Univille. The town, pronounced Un A Ville and not You Na Ville, is very small community, as is all of the real towns I provided as incorrect options.

In fact, the incorrect choices are all towns with populations under 1000 residents as of 2011. The warehouse agents, Artie, Myka, Pete, Claudia and Steve (as of season four) all live at Lena's. Lena herself works for the warehouse, but not as a field agent.

The previous warehouse, Warehouse 12, was located in London, England and was where HG Wells started her work as an agent around 1889. Helena Georgia Wells was the imagination behind all of the stories taken credit for by her brother Charles Wells.

At least that's the truth for "Warehouse 13".
2. It's never easy to go from believing you're an ordinary orphan to the chosen one. On the NBC series "Grimm", Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt finds out in the series opener that he's descended from a long line of mystical guardians. In what American city do Nick and his partner Hank investigate crimes with a supernatural twist?

Answer: Portland

It is Nick's dying Aunt Marie that reveals his destiny. She raised him after his parents "died". This happens after Nick begins to see the Wesen beasts (pronounced as Vessin). Nick embraces his destiny a bit reluctantly, but quickly, and ensnares a Blutbad (werewolf like creature) named Monroe as his supernatural sidekick. Nick keeps his identity a secret from the humans he loves in season one, though they are continually sucked into the path of danger. One of the show's creators is David Greenwalt of "Buffy" and "Angel" fame. I saw many themes from both shows in "Grimm's" first season. Nick is basically a male slayer, though he tries never to kill any of the Wesen he encounters. Though not Buffy Summers strong, Nick displays increasing physical strength as the season wears on.

At the end of season one, Nick finds out that his mother is still alive, so he is not yet an orphan after all. Nick is played by actor David Giuntoli, Aunt Marie by Kate Burton, Hank by Russell Hornsby, Monroe by Silas Weir Mitchell, and Juliette by Bitsie Tulloch.
3. On what ABC series can one find an evil queen named Regina, a Snow White named Mary Margaret, a mother named Emma and a Prince Charming named David all living in a mysterious town called Storybrooke?

Answer: Once Upon a Time

Poor poor Regina, she loses her true love and is forced to marry Snow White's father. If it had not been for a clueless young Snow White, Regina's mom may not have murdered her one true love. Regina never forgives her step-daughter for this mistake, and, long story short, sends Snow White off to her well known long deep sleep. Snow is awakened by true love's kiss, given to her by the fake Prince James, whom Snow always refers to as "Charming". Enraged, Regina enlists the help of Rumpelstiltskin to invoke a curse so powerful that the entire fairytale world will forget who they are! They are transported to Storybrooke, Maine, where time never moves and people never age (until Emma arrives). Baby Emma, she escapes with Pinocchio earlier and they both age normally in the real world.

It's truly up to to Emma Swan and her son Henry to break the curse Regina set forth. Regina starts to help this process, against her truest desires, when she realizes that Rumpelstiltskin (also known as Mr. Gold) tricked her as well. Season one ends in rather dramatic fashion, showing that Regina is not done with her subjects just yet. Lana Parilla plays Regina/Evil Queen, Jennifer Morrison plays Emma, Ginnifer Goodwin plays Mary Margaret/Snow White, and Josh Dallas plays David/Prince Charming.
4. Louisiana seems to be the place where folks "wanna do bad things with you", as per the show's opening theme. On HBO's smash hit "True Blood", Sookie Stackhouse and her colorful cohorts are always finding themselves in devilish predicaments down south in which fictional town and its surrounding locales?

Answer: Bon Temps

Bon Temps (pronounced as Ban Tawm) is a very small fictional location in northern Louisiana, not too far from the much bigger city of Shreveport. In 2010, Shreveport was the state's third largest city. The TV show, created by Alan Ball, is based loosely on the Southern Vampire Series of novels by Charlaine Harris. I say loosely, because after the first season, Ball completely undid Charlaine's work while still using her original characters. Though this did not endear the show to me personally, I do understand why changes were made. Sookie is a human/fairy hybrid, who can hear people's thoughts.

Her brother Jason is a beautiful, but ever changing playboy. Sookie's boss, Sam Merlotte, is a shape-shifter, and her best friend Tara eventually becomes a vampire.

The series sucked viewers in right from the start, pun intended, with the sexy jazzy rocking theme song "Bad Things" performed by Jace Everett. There could be no "True Blood" info section that did not pay homage to that little diddy. As the seasons wore on, and diverged from the books' storylines, I liked it less and less. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
5. In its eight seasons, Showtime's original offering, "Weeds", has taken its characters on quite a ride. Not only emotionally, but they have literally hopped the bunny trail in their attempts to survive. But, what is the name of the trendy California community where it all begins for widowed soccer mom Nancy Botwin?

Answer: Agrestic

After Nancy's husband Judah dies while jogging with their youngest son Shane, Nancy is forced into some quick thinking to survive financially. So, she decides to get into the weed selling business. While many people think the series glorifies drug selling/taking, it does not.

The show is, in fact, a cautionary tale. While folks like you or I would probably downsize our lives and get a real job, Nancy is a well meaning narcissist who seems to have never even considered such a plan. This leads to dangerous pitfall after dangerous pitfall, which she always gets through by the tiniest of margins.

Her drug dealing life is never easy, and after a fire (she set) destroys her home in Agrestic/Majestic, Nancy moves her family down to the fictional town of Renmar.

Afterward, they spend time living in Mexico, then they are on the run all over. She spends a three stint in prison for the death of Pilar, a crime she did not actually commit, before ending up in Connecticut. In the eighth and final season, Nancy recovers from a gun shot wound to the head by trying to give up her illegal drug activities.

The series ended on September 16, 2012 with Nancy's life coming full circle and a general theme that narcissism and crime will catch up with you.
6. "Dexter", a Showtime original series, follows the life of serial killer Dexter Morgan, his co-workers, and adopted sister Deb as they solve (and commit) crimes down in Orlando, Florida.

Answer: False

Nope, the action takes place down in Miami. Dexter is a man with a plan. He kills deserving murderers before the system can track them down. He's seen many close calls in the show's first six seasons, as his mind battles the rules taught to him by his step-father Harry and his own natural instincts.

He battles his Dark Passenger, an impression left on his consciousness after witnessing the brutal slaying of his own mother. In season six, Dexter is discovered on site of his latest killing by his step-sister Deb, who recently realized she was in love with him.

In the summer of 2012, it was announced that there would be two more seasons, and that creators of the show already knew how it would end at the conclusion of season eight. Dexter Morgan is portrayed by Michael C. Hall.
7. Despite the location, it's not all glitz and glamor in a family business. And, after the death of Nathaniel Fisher in the series opener, the family left behind has to continue to run their family funeral home. In which high profile city did we see the Fisher family of "Six Feet Under" unite after the death of their patriarch?

Answer: Los Angeles

Nate returns home in the series opener to attend the funeral of his father. On the plane ride he meets a woman who'll change his life, Brenda Chenowith. Nate is the oldest child to Ruth and Nathaniel, who afterward had David and Claire. He'd sort of run away from home years earlier to live in Oregon and work with a health food grocery chain. Now, back home, his brother David and his mother Ruth guilt him into sticking around.

He agrees to do so for "a little while". He decides to also go forth with a tumultuous relationship with the emotionally disturbed Brenda, who has tons of baggage even beyond herself.

In quick fashion the audience sees that there are many layers of dysfunction within the Fisher family as well, and this leads to many thought-provoking storylines in the show's five seasons.

The series ended in 2005 with a beautiful fast forward style wrap up, so that viewers would know how all of the characters' lives played out. Actor Peter Krause played Nate Jr. He went on to star in the hit NBC drama "Parenthood" starting in 2010.
8. The town of Mystic Falls is never the same after Katherine Pierce comes to town in the 1860s. And then, 145 years later it's 'two many potential loves', pun intended, for Elena Gilbert. Her life is so simple until the death of her step-parents. Then she meets the Salvatore vampires. Does she love Stefan, or is Damon? Which vampire based TV series does this describe?

Answer: The Vampire Diaries

This show is also one adapted from a series of books, this time by author LJ Smith. It proves to be a hit series for the CW Network in its first season. Elena almost drowns, but she is saved (unknowingly) by Stefan Salvatore. Stefan and Damon were changed into vampires about 1865 by their mutual paramour Katherine Pierce.

Not long afterward, she leads them to believe she's been trapped inside the old Fell Church basement, along with many other vampires. She hasn't been, and returns to Mystic Falls not long after Damon and Stefan have. Elena is a Doppelganger for Katherine, who's being pursued by one of the Originals, a vampire/wolf hybrid named Klaus. Katherine is cryptic about all of this, and is all about saving herself. No shock there. Stefan and Elena fall in love, but Damon falls for her as well.

By the season three finale, Elena is forced to choose on her love for both vampires. She chooses Stefan, but does not make it back to him before her death causes her to be changed into a vampire herself.

Afterward, Elena and Damon became the series super couple, until the end of season six when Nina Dobrev left the show.
9. New York City can be a formidable place to raise a teenaged daughter. So, George Altman uproots his one and only child Tessa to a more suburban community, where everyone seems nosy, superficial and meddlesome. What series am I describing here, when I say it starred Jeremy Sisto and Jane Levy as George and Tessa Altman?

Answer: Suburgatory

At the time of making this quiz, I'd just started watching the series' first season. Everyone played their parts beautiful, from Carly Chaikin and Cheryl Hines as Dalia and Dallas Royce, to Ana Gasteyer as nosy neighbor Sheila Shay, to the seemingly conscienceless Noah Werner played by Alan Tudyk. George and Tessa's move to the wilds of suburbia almost made New York City seem tame! George is a lovely man, an architect by trade, and starts season one trying to navigate the social aspects of community life he has not had to face previously. Tessa tries many times to convince him to move them back home, but he knows she is better off out of the city for her teenage years.

Jeremy Sisto rose to fame in movies like "Clueless" (1995) and "White Squall" (1996), and went on to star as the emotionally challenged young man, Billy Chenowith, suffering from a Bipolar condition on "Six Feet Under". Jane Levy made her TV debut as Mandy Milkovich on the Showtime American series "Shameless". "Shameless" first aired in the UK in 2004, and in the US in 2011.
10. In which popular MTV series did the students of Beacon Hills face werewolves, ghosts and lizard like hybrids?

Answer: Teen Wolf

"Teen Wolf" is the only choice here that aired on MTV in its original run. The story revolves around Scott McCall, like the original movie with Michael J. Fox, but the athletes of Beacon Hills High are Lacrosse players instead of basketball stars. The series is a drama, unlike Fox's comedy film or its Jason Bateman sequel "Teen Wolf Too". Scott becomes a werewolf after an Alpha attack, and alongside his sidekick Stiles, deals with all of the angst, excitement and responsibility that comes with new found power.

In season two, the gang is introduced to several new foes, amongst those is the Kanima. The Kanima is a werewolf hybrid gone wrong, and results in a lizard creature more powerful than any of the wolves, and under the control of a vengeful master.

The series is set in California, but filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. It was revealed on "Wolf Watch" that after season two the show began filming in California, making it much easier on the cast.
