According to Scully, "Teresa Hoese was the young mother who was abducted the night before Agent Mulder was." Mulder and Scully met a young Teresa during the "The X-Files" pilot episode. During the episode, "Requiem", they are reacquainted to discuss the disappearance of Teresa's husband, Ray Hoese.

2. To what U.S. state do Scully, Skinner, and Doggett travel in this episode?

Answer: Montana

Although Mulder was supposedly abducted in Oregon, the agents receive reports that Teresa Hoese, who "was abducted the night before Agent Mulder", was actually found by Richie Szalay in Montana.

3. After visiting Teresa Hoese in the hospital, Scully, Skinner, and Doggett visit Richie Szalay. Doggett asks Richie about the suspect he saw in the field on the night that he found Teresa Hoese. Doggett, having known Agent Reyes from previous work experiences, introduces her. He tells Scully and Skinner that Agent Reyes has "her master's in religious studies" and that "her specialization is ritualistic crime." Scully then sarcastically asks, "Are we working the same case here?"

5. When we first see Agent Reyes in this episode, one of the first things she says is, "I know it's not very F.B.I. of me, but I'm really trying to quit." To what habit is she referring?

When Skinner and Scully first meet Agent Reyes, she is smoking a cigarette. She quickly puts it out and turns around to meet them. Later in the episode, we see her driving in her car at night. On the passenger's seat, we see a pack of Morley Lights, the fake brand used in TV shows. CSM also smoked these.

6. Reyes is driving at night when, suddenly, her car momentarily loses power. She then sees a light in the sky, descending on the horizon. What does she say in response to seeing the light in the sky?

As she watches the light descend over the horizon, she backs her car and drives toward it. She gets closer and witnesses a man get into a pickup truck and leave the scene. At the scene, she finds the body of Gary Cory, Richie's friend, who was abducted from Oregon just prior to Mulder's abduction.

In the season three finale episode, "Talitha Cumi", Jeremiah Smith is investigated by Mulder and Scully due to his reported ability to heal wounds "with the palm of his hand." In the season four premiere episode, "Herrenvolk", Jeremiah Smith takes Mulder to a plantation in Canada and reveals secrets about The Project, shrouded in secrecy by The Syndicate.

In the episode, "This is Not Happening", Jeremiah Smith resurfaced to heal victims of experimentation as a result of their abductions. After they are returned, Jeremiah Smith takes the victims and heals them.

8. There is a scene when Reyes is showing Scully, Skinner, and Doggett the surveillance tapes from the compound where Jeremiah Smith heals and houses returned abductees. One tape shows Jeremiah Smith walking past a camera. As he moves behind an object, he appears to transform into another person. Into whom of the following does he transform?

It is in this scene that Scully identifies Jeremiah Smith from the video footage. Scully, Skinner, Doggett, and Reyes watch as he seemingly transforms from his own appearance to that of Doggett's. Doggett, stunned by the surveillance footage, admits that he "never even went in that building."

There is a scene in which Doggett and Reyes discuss the case concerning the kidnapping and subsequent murder of his son, Luke.
