Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Did Carlton Chase enter the police station of his own volition?

Answer: yes

Chase was running from Randall Cooper in the street and saw the police station. He ran inside seeking refuge, but the cops thought he was nuts and put him in an isolated cell. He continued screaming that he wasn't safe and that his pursuer could get him in there. While one cop went to get Social Services, the other watched Chase get shot inside the cell.
2. From where was the shot that killed Chase fired?

Answer: roof

The local officer first thought that the shooter had been in the air vent, but Doggett pointed out that it would have made noise, which no one present had heard. The agents went up to the ventilation system and Scully realized that the hole continued all the way through to the roof!
3. What did Doggett determine had been used to quiet the sound of the gunshot?

Answer: towel

He called it "an old Godfather trick: wrap a towel around a pistol, muffle the sound." Doggett later found that the fabric had traces of sulphuryl fluoride on it. Since the chemical was an insecticide used only by licensed exterminators, it led the agents to Dwight and Randall.
4. What evidence did Doggett find at Chase's real estate office?

Answer: bullet

On the floor of an inner office, he found a bullet and a gun, which was different than the one used to kill Chase. When Doggett turned off the lights in the room, light from outside streamed through the numerous holes shot in every wall of the room. Scully (correctly) surmised that Chase had been shooting at someone outside.
5. Had Dwight done prison time before?

Answer: yes

Doggett cut right to the chase when talking to Dwight, and almost immediately brought up his record. Dwight admitted that he'd been in prison long ago, but joked that he and Randall had moved on and become "members of the Worcester Chamber of Commerce." When the agents looked up Dwight's record later and saw that he'd been arrested for grand theft auto, they realized that he must have partnered with Randall, who could see for the both of them.
6. What did Doggett find in Tammi's lockbox?

Answer: nothing

Both Dwight and Tammi seemed surprised when Doggett opened the box to find it empty. Randall had already gotten into it, though, to take Tammi's book and protect her from Dwight.
7. What did Dwight tell Doggett during interrogation that Randall repeated to Scully?

Answer: "I'm just a regular Joe; provide a public service."

Randall was reading Dwight's lips through the wall of the interrogation room and after Dwight said this to Doggett, Randall said it to Scully. Scully realized that Randall was somehow able to see through the wall and had just repeated exactly what his brother had said, though she couldn't explain it.
8. Whose idea had it been to kill Chase?

Answer: Randall

Interrogating Tammi, Doggett noted that "Chase was Dwight's fence. He sold the drugs your boss stole. Together they had a good thing going, so why was Chase killed? Seems like bad business." Scully rejoined that perhaps the reason wasn't business, but was personal. Randall had in fact killed Chase because he was in love with Tammi and jealous.
9. What had Randall taken that Tammi needed in order to get "her money"?

Answer: her book

He'd taken the book she'd been using to falsify the accounts and skim money off for herself in order to protect her, but gave it back so she could get the money and skip town with him. When she didn't come back to the bus station, he knew something was wrong and went back to the office to find her.
10. Did Randall shoot Tammi?

Answer: no

Dwight told him to shoot her, but he instead shot through the wall and killed Dwight. When he was arrested, he refused representation, but seemed pretty resigned to whatever consequences he faced. Though Tammi had disappeared, Dwight could look through the walls of the police station to gaze upon her picture as her police record graced someone's computer screen.
