Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first major galaxy of the game, the Good Egg Galaxy is home to more than one boss. Which is found in the egg?

Answer: Dino Piranha

Though both bosses are found on different planets in this galaxy, Mario will end up making his way over to both to get his early Power Stars. Dino Piranha appears in the first and fourth Missions here while King Kaliente is only in the third. Both of these battles involve Mario making good use of his newfound spin attack by shaking the motion-sensitive controller; in Dino's case it's by hitting his tail and in King Kaliente's case it's by hitting coconuts back at the otherwise unreachable foe.
2. What seems to be causing the Queen Bee to experience itchiness in the Honeyhive Galaxy?

Answer: Star Chips

The Honeyhive Galaxy, the game's second Robust Galaxy, is a meeting place for many new things and characters. In addition to meeting the Queen Bee on her planet, Mario will also end up encountering the Bee Mushroom for the first time and, at the end of the Bee Mario Takes Flight Mission, he'll meet Captain Toad and his crew (who'll set up shop in the Garage of the Comet Observatory shortly after). The Star Chips on the Queen Bee will be nabbed in that mission, finishing off Mario's first adventure as a bee.

Mario will encounter the Queen Bee again in the third Mission, Big Bad Bugaboom.
3. Which of these is likely to be the main method of getting Mario across the Space Junk Galaxy?

Answer: Pull Stars

A field of detritus and otherwise smaller planets, the Space Junk Galaxy is the first major destination Mario will visit in the Fountain Dome and it's one that'll make new use of the player controls, relying much more heavily on the point-and-shoot of the Wii Remote (or Switch controller) to latch onto Pull Stars and navigate the open space that makes up this locale.

The first Mission is a testing ground for this, but the subsequent ones will have Mario facing off against Kamella and Tarantox, two mini-bosses who make use of the chaotic environment here to fight back.
4. Which foe debuts in the Battlerock Galaxy?

Answer: Topman

Topmen are mechanical, spinning foes who have the ability to bump into Mario and knock him exactly where he doesn't want to be, and it's that kind of aggression you can come to expect when visiting the Battlerock Galaxy, a Fountain Dome locale known for its canons, Bullet Bill, and general fortitude.

The Missions here have Mario navigating both the exterior and the interior of the massive planet stronghold, eventually, in the third Mission, facing Topmaniac, the local boss.
5. Which of these creatures makes a home in the Beach Bowl Galaxy?

Answer: Penguin

The first heavily water-based location Mario will encounter as he makes his way through the main Galaxies of the game, the Beach Bowl Galaxy is the first major stop in the Kitchen Dome. Built around an overflowing, bowl-shaped body of water and the waterfalls and cliffs on its edge, it'll be an opportunity for Mario to dive into the depths there to collect all he needs.

In addition to the penguins that inhabit this location, Mario will also come across massive eels, clams, sea urchins, and bats.
6. In the Ghostly Galaxy, which of these will harm Boos?

Answer: Light

Boos, being ghosts, aren't really affected by most normal forms of damage Mario can provide, and even a spin attack will only wind the Boo around him instead of cause harm. Instead, Mario will need to make use of light fixtures found in the haunted mansion to not only stop Boos, but to claim hidden items and transform himself to normal (once he becomes Boo Mario).

In addition to the spooky goings-on here, Mario will also reunite with Luigi when he visits this Galaxy, part of the Kitchen Dome.
7. The Gusty Garden Galaxy will be Mario's first encounter with Floaty Fluffs. Do these appear in any other Galaxy in this game?

Answer: No

The Gusty Garden Galaxy, the first major Galaxy in the Bedroom Dome, is full of plant life of all types, but to get around, Mario will need to make use of lengthy vines and Floaty Fluffs, plants that can catch the wind and transport him to other small planets throughout the area.

The catch is that Floaty Fluffs are limited in their use; if the player shakes the controller they can give more momentum to make it to the destination they're aiming for, but they can only do this up to three times. Nearly all Missions here make use of it, and then they're not seen again until "Super Mario Galaxy 2".
8. Which Prankster Comet visits the Freezeframe Galaxy?

Answer: Cosmic Comet

The Purple Comet appears at nearly every major Galaxy in the game, so that can be set aside, but the only other Prankster Comet that hits this Bedroom Dome Galaxy is the Cosmic Comet, leading Mario on a chase against his Cosmic self through a slippery ice section of the region hovering over a series of black holes. Mario's earlier Missions in this Galaxy will flip flop between the two, starting in the ice planets and then progressing to the fiery ones (and using their respective Mushrooms to make it through).
9. The Green Power Star found in the Dusty Dune Galaxy is obtained in which secret Mission?

Answer: Treasure of the Pyramid

There are only a handful of Green Power Stars in "Super Mario Galaxy", and collecting them all unlocks the route to the Planet of Trials, a series of end-game Galaxies for a few last-minute Power Stars to round out the grand total. In the Dusty Dune Galaxy, you can get one of them by locating the Hungry Luma in the second Mission, Blasting through the Sand. Feeding it enough Star Bits will get you a route into the pyramid to go for this prize.
10. The Gold Leaf Galaxy shares its layout, somewhat, with what previous Galaxy?

Answer: Honeyhive Galaxy

The first Galaxy of the Engine Room Dome, the Gold Leaf Galaxy may seem familiar, at least from the outset, because it's a mirror image of the game's second level, the Honeyhive Galaxy. The similarities don't end there-- Mario will also encounter the Bee Mushroom here quite a bit, whether he uses it to collect items for Star Bunnies or attempts to navigate the high ledges of this autumnal world. You need at least thirty-four Power Stars to unlock this Galaxy.
11. What, exactly, is Guppy, found in the Sea Slide Galaxy?

Answer: Whale

Mario's first Mission in the Engine Room Dome's Sea Slide Galaxy will have him navigating the interstellar waterways that form a loop in this region of the cosmos. As part of Going After Guppy, Mario just needs to chase down the titular hooligan, a massive whale, as it swims the lap that is the stage. To finish this Mission, Mario needs to swim through eight rings, and it's not hard to do that, especially with the red shells found along the sea slide floor. You need thirty-six Power Stars to visit this Galaxy.
12. The Purple Coin Mission in the Toy Time Galaxy is completed on the backside of the Mario planet. This rear side replaces the lava segments with which of these?

Answer: Poison

Although the Mario Meets Mario Mission, the Galaxy's second, sends Mario only a massive planet-sized replica of his early 8-bit self, the Purple Coin Comet will send him, instead, the the rear of this planet to find an 8-bit version of Luigi. The Mission here is a bit different as well since, instead of collecting five Silver Stars, Mario has to collect one hundred fifty Purple Coins to get the Power Star at the end, dodging poison instead of lava pits (not that neither won't hurt).
13. Which of these bosses is fought (again) in the Deep Dark Galaxy?

Answer: Kamella

A weirder Galaxy than most, the Deep Dark Galaxy appears to be comprised of a true hodgepodge of planets, all of which appear to have very little to do with one another as Mario makes his way from a sandy beach to an underwater ghost ship to fight Kamella the Magikoopa. Most of the Missions here, like Ghostly Galaxy, involve working around the Boos that haunt the region, though it wouldn't be unexpected to go face-to-face against some underwater foes as well.
14. Which of these foes would not be found in the Dreadnought Galaxy?

Answer: Magikoopa

The Dreadnought Galaxy, the penultimate main Galaxy Mario can encounter in the game, is home to six Missions and nearly all of them involve hopping around the platforms that make up a massive battlecruiser planet. Comprised of metal conveyors, loose parts, and explosive foes, the Galaxy is also home to the Topman Tribe who, near the start of the adventure, appeared en masse in the Battlerock Galaxy.

They come back much more here. It costs forty-eight Power Stars to take the trip.
15. How many Power Stars can Mario collect in the Melty Molten Galaxy?

Answer: Six

The final main Galaxy in the game, the Melty Molten Galaxy consists of a handful of lava-filled, volcanic planets, all of which are teeming with pitfalls, steam vents, fiery foes, and opportunities to get hurt. In addition to several race-against-the-clock instances, Mario will also need to face off against Dino Piranha here one final time.

This Galaxy requires fifty-two Power Stars to be accessible and it's found at the end of the Garden Dome.
