Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. If you wanted the powerful Demonbrandt of "Demon's Souls", you'll need to head here and defeat the mighty Old King Doran to earn it.

Answer: Gates to Boletaria

Old King Doran is truly an intimidating foe. So much so, that he will quite literally stand still and allow the player to attack him for free until he falls to half health. After doing so, he will reward them with the Demonbrandt. The player can continue fighting him, but he will heal to full and start to fight back if they do.

He boasts the Northern Regalia, the weapon with the highest overall base stats in the game, capable of annihilating the player in just one hit while being incredibly tanky himself. Overcoming him is arguably the hardest challenge in the entire game because of this.
2. The Scythe of Want in "Dark Souls 2" boasts fearsome physical and Dark power. The player can access it via using the Soul of Nashandra. The fight occurs at this location.

Answer: Throne of Want

With Nashandra's soul, the player can visit Weaponsmith Ornifex and exchange it for the Scythe of Want. The Scythe of Want is easily the best of its class in the entire game, with power that puts even colossal weapons to shame, relatively fast attacks, and being imbued with Dark, which tough bosses such as Blue Smelter Demon and Sir Alonne happen to be weak to.

Its only issue is its enormous stamina consumption, which will demand careful use by the player.
3. The Splitleaf Greatsword of "Dark Souls 3" is a premiere Player-versus-Player weapon that holds its own in PvE as well. It can be found at this location.

Answer: Dreg Heaps

An unnamed merchant here can sell the weapon to the player for a modest 10,000 souls. Its weapon art, known as Wind Wheel, is absolutely amazing in PvP encounters. It covers a long range, comes out fast, and has low cooldown. It can be parried, so it can't be spammed recklessly, but the window to do so is small, and failed parry attempts will result in enormous amounts of damage taken, generally making the effort riskier than it's worth.
4. Though the Repeater Pistol of "Bloodborne" chews through bullets fast, it also deals extra damage in a single shot to compensate. It can be purchased as soon as the player reaches this area.

Answer: Oedon Chapel

Reached after defeating Father Gascoigne, the Repeater Pistol is a staple on Bloodtinge builds, but burns through bullets too quickly to be worth it on any other type of build. It has the same draw speed as the Hunter Pistol with the same range.
5. After clashing swords with Sir Alonne of "Dark Souls 2" in this location, the player can use his soul to earn a powerful weapon capable of using the Seppuku action to buff itself.

Answer: Memory of the Old Iron King

Obtained from Sir Alonne's Soul, using Sepukku will cause the character to impale themselves with the weapon, dealing damage to themselves based on how powerful the weapon is. For 30 seconds afterward, the player wields a veritable nuking sword which will lay waste to anything it touches.

At maximum level, this weapon gets an S scaling in Dexterity. A character built around Dexterity with a maxed version of this weapon who performs Sepukku using this weapon must enjoy life on the edge, as at 50 Dexterity, a character with less than 20 Vigor will reduce themselves to having just a single hit point left.

The beneficial results are staggering; at 40 Dexterity on New Game +, a maxed Bewitched Alonne Sword receiving this buff has enough power to kill Old Dragonslayer in just four hits- dealing an average of just over 1425 damage per hit.
6. The Obsidian Greatsword is one of the most tedious "Dark Souls 1" weapons to acquire, and is found here after cutting off Black Dragon Kalameet's tail.

Answer: Royal Woods

For all the tediousness involved behind cutting Kalameet's tail off without accidentally killing him, or dying to him, the sword makes the endeavor worth it and then someone. Despite modest requirements of 24 Strength and 20 Dexterity, this weapon hits hard and has a unique combat art.

When wielded with two hands, once the player presses the Strong Attack button, their character will plant the sword in the ground with both hands as a series of eruptions of fire occur around their position. Anything near the player will surely get hit, and hit very hard.
7. The heaviest weapon in all of "Demon's Souls", found inside the boss room for Dragon God, but only if the player has Pure White World Tendency.

Answer: Dragon Bone Smasher

If the player has Pure White Tendency, they can locate this weapon easily with a small amount of detouring. Ordinarily, to fight Dragon God, you'd walk up to a small hallway and take a right so you could sneak over to one of the ballistae needed to shoot him with. If the player wants to earn this weapon, however, they'll instead need to briefly head left until they encounter a pile of rubble. Upon hacking and slashing their way through the rubble, which will take about ten seconds, the weapon will be right behind it, waiting for the player to claim.
8. A fan favorite originating from "Dark Souls 2", the Fume Ultra Greatsword made a return in "Dark Souls 3". It can be acquired by defeating Knight Slayer Tsorig in this area.

Answer: Smoldering Lake

This weapon has had quite the experience. In "Dark Souls 2", its stat requirements are notoriously high, needing 40 Strength and 30 Dexterity to wield. In return for meeting these demands, the player gets the honor of possessing the highest AR Ultra Greatsword in the game, courtesy of this one getting an S scaling with Strength and a D scaling in Dexterity, meshed with an eye-popping 430 base power. The downside to being unable to have a resin applied to it is unfortunate, but for the simple act of mowing down enemies with a big stick, this weapon was second to none.

In "Dark Souls 3," this weapon experienced a massive makeover. Here, it could now have resins applied to it. It could no longer be infused. However, the main takeaways were enormous nerfs that were furthered through a patch released after the game's launch. It's massive 430 power was greatly nerfed down to 338, and then again to 260 after the game launched. As well, it's scaling was greatly nerfed, down to an A in Strength and an E in Dexterity. It's stat requirements were also changed, now bumping up the Strength requirement from 40 to 50 but greatly reducing the Dexterity requirement from 30 down to 10. Even with all of these changes, almost entirely for the worse, the weapon remained a strong choice for Strength builds looking to simply beat on things with a really big stick.
9. The Rebel Greatshield of "Dark Souls 2" previously belonged to Raime the Fume Knight. It can be found here.

Answer: Forest of Fallen Giants

This one can be very difficult to get ahold of, especially as the player first arrives to the location it is found. The shield, along with the Heavy Iron Key needed to access the DLC, is being guarded by a total of four Fire Lizards. Naturally, as the player isn't intended to access the DLC until very late, and the Forest of Fallen Giants is an early game area, these Fire Lizards will be scaled at a much, much higher level than the player will be at upon initially arriving.

As such, the player's best bet is to simply throw caution to the wind and try to rush past these Lizards, into their cave, and make a mad dash to the end, where a treasure chest can be opened and these items can be retrieved.

Otherwise, it is best to simply come back later at a higher level, where the Lizards can be dealt with and the items retrieved more easily.
10. The Giant's Halberd of "Dark Souls 1" can either be a particularly pricey purchase, or it can be farmed tediously with a hilariously low 1% drop rate. Either maneuver would be performed in this area.

Answer: Anor Londo

Anor Londo Sentinels have a 1% chance to drop the Giant's Halberd upon being defeated. However, your odds of actually getting one are slimmer than that, because they also have a 2% chance to drop the Giant's Shield and a 5% chance to drop a Lost Soul of an Undead. If the plan is to farm them to try and get them to drop the weapon, the Covetous Golden Serpent Ring along with a very high Intelligence Score and a nice pile of Ceramic Coins are highly recommended to improve upon these odds.

Otherwise, simply forking over the ten thousand souls to buy it from the Giant Blacksmith will be more practical.

It's probably not an exaggeration to suggest that you'd probably get enough souls to buy it off of killing the Sentinels before you get them to actually drop it for free.

In fact, even with the aforementioned items and a high Intelligence, this will probably still be the case. The Sentinels drop 360 souls when defeated, meaning you'd need to kill 28 Sentinels to earn ten thousand souls to buy the Giant's Halberd. You would be highly unlikely to get them to drop the weapon for free before you'd be able to simply purchase it.
11. If you've ever wondered what a chainsaw in a From Software game would feel like, the Whirligig Saw from "Bloodborne" is probably the closest you'll ever get. It can be found here.

Answer: Nightmare Church

When transformed, holding down either R2 or L2 will cause the player to hold the saw at a distance and constantly spin the blade, allowing it to basically function as a chainsaw of sorts. Given that beasts are weak to Serrated weapons, this clearly makes the Whirligig Saw an excellent choice for Strength builds.
12. In order to acquire the Soulbrandt of "Demon's Souls", the player will need to go into the depths of a map and head directly underneath it. They can only do it in this location, and only once per playthrough.

Answer: The Nexus

When every boss in the game has been defeated, the hole in the center of the Nexus will open up, and Maiden in Black will guide the player down it. Once down, there is no way to get back up, so the player will need to have their affairs in order first.

Here, defeating True King Allant and opting for the 'good ending' will grant them the Souldbrandt. When paired with the Demonbrandt, the player can create the Northern Regalia, a weapon crowned with the highest AR out of any weapon in the game when at maximum power.
13. If the player of "Dark Souls 2" wants to acquire the iconic Moonlight Greatsword, they've got quite a bit of work they'd need to do in order to do so. They'll need to travel to this map.

Answer: Brightstone Cava Tseldora

Here, the player must either embark upon New Game Plus and come here, or they must use a Bonfire Ascetic to force the Duke's Dear Freya to respawn. Doing either and then defeating the latter will, on top of usual rewards, give the player the Paledrake Soul. This soul can be brought to Weaponsmith Ornifex and exchanged for the Moonlight Greatsword.
14. The Divine Spear Fragment is an enormous upgrade over the Ritual Spear Fragment in "Dark Souls 3". It can be found in this location.

Answer: The Ringed City

The player must earn the ability to join the Spears of the Church. Once achieved, they must then become summoned by Adjudicator Argo and successfully slay 30 players in doing so. Once achieved, the player will receive this item. It is unfortunately useless outside of this battle, as it won't do anything at all.
15. The "Dark Souls 1" player will need to go here to acquire the Moonlight Butterfly Soul.

Answer: Darkroot Forest

With the butterfly's soul, the player can acquire the Moonlight Butterfly Horn. The Moonlight Butterfly joined the Moinlight Greatsword for being just one of two melee weapons to do zero physical damage, instead being entirely magic. As such, it will completely ignore most shields, even greatshields, and can thus be great against passive or tanky players with lots of armor.
