When Harry, Hermione (disguised as Bellatrix Lestrange), Ron and Griphook entered Gringotts Bank, they were stopped by Bogrod. To save Hermione, Harry used the Imperius Curse on Bogrod, allowing them to pass into the vaults. Bogrod was later incinerated by a captive dragon. Bogrod was the chief bankteller in 1998, when Harry, Ron and Hermione were trying to sneak into Gringotts Bank.

They end up getting co-operation from the teller when Harry uses the Imperius Charm on him. This gets them deep into the tunnels.
