"Deathly Hallows: Part 1" - Movie Basics Quiz

As Hermione shares the animated 'Tale of the Three Brothers', it is made clear what each gift from Death can do. The Elder Wand is the most powerful and deadly of all wands, the Resurrection Stone can bring the dead back to life and the Invisibility Cloak has the power to conceal whatever is beneath it.

The Philopsopher's Stone (or Sorcerer's Stone) is NOT one of the Deathly Hallows. According to the first movie and book, it was created by Nicolas Flamel (a real-life French scientist). The Philosopher's Stone can turn objects into gold and give eternal life.

Hermione inherits "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" after Dumbledore dies. The book is significant because it contains 'The Tale of the Three Brothers' which uncovers the mystery of the Deathly Hallows. Xenophilius Lovegood confirms this story to be more than legend. Harry eventually realizes that the Elder Wand is what Lord Voldemort is after as a result of his mind being connected to Voldemort's through his dreams and visions.

Voldemort has a shared connection with Harry that allows him to enter Harry's mind and interchange thoughts and memories. According to the Harry Potter books, this type of merging of the mind through visions and dreams is called Legilimency. Because Voldemort is using Legilimency to enter Harry's mind, Dumbledore had Snape teach Harry the basics of Occlumency in the "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" movie. Occlumency empowers Harry to block Voldemort's attempts to invade his mind. Because Harry only had a crash course with Snape, he is still relatively new at Occlumency. During one of Harry's connections with the Dark Lord, Harry sees Voldemort visiting Gellert Grindelwald in prison.
